    The best board of 2018....

    Thanks for the review.
    How does this compare to the chilli rare bird for a traveller? Looking to surf in waist to slightly overhead waves.

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Phantom is a good small to medium wave board, that excels in that waist to head high range. The Rare Bird is a little thicker which allows you to ride it a little shorter.

    Hey, how would you compare this to the Slab 2.0? They seem to have similar dims cover a similar wave range. Would really appreciate your input before I pull the trigger on either one. Thanks a lot

      They definitely are very similar and both filled the shorter, groveler end off JJF's quiver. The Slab 2.0 is a little more high performance oriented, while the Phantom will have similar DNA to the Ghost but more of a smaller wave version.

    Funny on their website they put the phantom under the performance category when it looks more like a daly driver

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a high-performance approach to a daily driver, John John is riding this board in competition and it fits alongside performance shortboards but packs a little more paddle power and ease of use. Basically, it's a performance board you can ride on almost any day. - Ashlon

    Can you review the new Firewire Vacay? It was just released, it’s a their new board in the crossover range! I love your videos, but would like to see more midrange board reviews. Not all of us can ride those short boards 😂😎

      Hey Tyrell, Thanks for commenting. We do not have a Firewire Vacay yet. If you prefer mid-lengths you should check out the Christenson C Bucket, Flat Tracker & Nautilus. We have reviewed each and have yet to find a better line of mid-length boards. www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/christenson

      It's hard to say exactly based on that, but probably around a 6'1" or 6'2" would be solid for you. Just make sure you're keeping the liters close to what you are usually riding your shortboards at. www.realwatersports.com/collections/pyzel-phantom

    works much better n overhead conditions

    Is it a single concave throughout the entire board..? Or single in to double..? Thanks

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John, it's sort of both. It's a single concave running most of the bottom, with a double concave set inside, which gives speed and lift both on a rail and over flat spots while allowing for quick rail-to-rail transitions.

      X-Man, that would depend a lot on your riding, for an advanced rider at that weight around 36 liters would be a good fit. If you are unsure feel free to hit us up at realpro@realwatersports.com with more detail on where you ride and what type of waves you're on and we can get you dialed!

      @@soulsurfer3102 We've had great success riding these boards in small to medium sized surf. Pyzel designed this model as a small wave high-performance shortboard based off of the Ghost DNA and it rips!

    Hey Trip, how would this compare to the Pyzalien model?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It packs a little bit more width, thickness, and volume into a smaller size so you can ride your Phantom about an inch shorter than the Pyzalien to surf the same volume. It is quicker in small surf but does not offer as stable of a ride when you are pushing the top end. They cover a similar range but the Phantom works better in slightly smaller waves than the Pyzaliens prime range. Hope this helps - Ashlon

      what about the stubby bastard? I have a stubby bastard and love mine, but it's succumbing to tail cancer. The shapes seem very similar, so how do you they would ride differently?

    • @REALWatersports
      @REALWatersports  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They both cover a similar range but the bottom shape it the biggest difference. The Stubby Bastard is a single concave throughout for lift and drive, while the Phantom is a single to double. The Phantom rides looser and encourages more turns while the Stubby Bastard is more locked in and drivey. The Phantom is also slightly wider for more outline curve, this lends towards tighter turns as well. Hope this helps - Ashlon

      REAL Watersports it really does! Pyzel has been putting out some really beautifully sprayed boards out on the Pyzel garage, and i might must pull the trigger on a phantom, since i love putting in work on the open face and there is a difference between that and my stubby bastard. Thanks!

      It sounds like you would have a blast on the Phantom. If you can't find the spray you are looking, we can order a custom or we have nearly every size in stock here: www.realwatersports.com/collections/pyzel-phantom
