i have macOS and from terminal i see with arp -a many ips but from virtualbox i cant see anything...
arp is not working it says like can't obtain ip address of wlan0 usig arpasa

There is a mesh network running. And maybe firewall. Scan the version of your router to see if there is any anti virus running like avast

When I typed sudo arp-scan --interface=eth0 --localnet ... I got an error saying there's no device .....
Well, for this to work you have to ensure that you are scanning through the right interface. So, your interface name might not be "eth0" ... It can be something else based on your case (e.g. using different OS than Kali linux, using a VM while your interface is in NAT mode, etc.)
@@mohammedal-najar6486 in my case i have kali linux on vm but it is connected using a external usb wifi adapter to same home network say Xyz, my host machine is also connected to wifi Xyz, and few other mobile also connected to Xyz. But in my nmap i cannot see any other device apart from router(Xyz). VM Connected in NAT with host. Please help what could be reason ?

you need to set your virtual machine from nat to bridge adapter, go to settings in vm and change it from nat to bridge adapter that way it will work @@Nitesh1760
