I kno this is after, but your supposed to look for anomalies, not differences. Things that are strange, not oh more hair, or oh this guy didn't sit down, or sound is different.. Weird strange things. I swear without the chat, she couldn't get thru a single game. Her game IQ is bad.

I'm 17 minutes in so idk if chat will fill you in later on, but having seen two other playthroughs of this, my guess is that the number the phone tells you is the number of anomalies you have left to see. It's most likely the same as the game it takes inspiration from (Exit 8) in that it doesn't repeat anomalies until you've seen them all.
