@craft-o-matic399 honestly it's not even that - how many people have received faulty pens and been refused replacement/repair by their CS, with no recourse available to them simply because they don't have a social media presence large enough to make the higher-ups listen.

You will not get contacted by the VP even if you are an engineer. The VP was contacting doodlebud to make damage control since db is one of the biggest pen tuber. Nothing changes when we complain.

That said, the design and manufacturing deficits of this pen are so egregious, it should have required only an articulate description of the user experience to move them to action. I have some very strong opinions on this company based on direct experience and their performance in the FP market, but I will hold back.

I'm really impressed with Nahvalur....I had a Nautilus and then purchased a 2024 Original Plus Summer edition. Was supposed to be clear with coloured swirls - but the barrel was almost completely clear -no swirls!!! The store I ordered from sent my photos of the issue and Nahvalur sent a replacement - free of charge! Amazing!!! Another Nautilus is likely or maybe some other Nahvalur offering!
I had superb customer service from Nahvalur anent the Eclipse receiving a replacement for the malfunctioning first one I received. I, too, enjoyed the girth and the feeling of the grids of the barrel. Applause for Nahvalur.

Well yes, it has a cap. Most capped pens can go a very long time without the nib drying out. For a capless pen, its very difficult to have a seal that prevents nib dry out over an extended period of time

I don’t have a YT channel, so I’m solely dependent upon the mood of “Debbie” or whomever answers the ☎️ on a random Tuesday morning. Credit to them reaching out and all but it doesn’t change the fact of crap customer service the first time around. It still blows my mind that a supposed “engineer” at Nahvalor was good with saying to you “it’s all good”, even with a video. There seems to be a lot of peps saying how great they are, they helped with this and that. And pls don’t misunderstand, I’m not trying to be negative or drag their name through the mud… It’s the fact that at least two people, if I’m getting the facts straight, were fine with the first response. I did your water test at my retailer. It failed. I cancelled my order. No one apart from me has shown any interest in dozen pens he bought from his supplier. The Platinum Curidas has also been a sales dud. The Vanishing Point and Jinhao 10 are my best performed.
I had the "blind cap" issue and it definiteyl dried out quick, actually seeing this the replacement i got (Nahvalur Customer Service was brilliant and replaced it straight away even shipping it to the UK), i think the seal on the original was off like yours, i wonder if a rubber end to the plastic tube or an O ring style end with a little give would be a better sealing solution
I've heard some have theirs stay wet after several weeks and others have their dry out very quickly. If the sealing design/parts could be improved to be consistent so they all last 2 weeks or so it would be fantastic. My guess is they are very close & it just needs a slight change to a few components to perform well.
Pen companies take note: Send defective pen to reviewers = free consulting services! Triple A level QC: have C-suite execs blow pens to assure quality.

I really love the design of the Eclipse for a capless fountain pen. I'm not sure if I'm gonne get one tho. Are there maintaining differnces between the Eclipse, Curidas and Vanishing Point? It will be my 1st capless fountain pen if I get one (either one of these 3, or a Sailor PGS will be my next new pen and my 1st new fountainpen for 25)

@@Doodlebud I lucked out with my '10'. Nib needed a couple adjustments (small), but it has almost instantly become my #1 favorite. They fixed the Majohn spring stupidity, the tiny weight increase (perceived) plus a slightly wider barrel just edges out the Majohn. AND while I like Majohn inks and design, their nibs (my anecdotal experience) SUCK. Out of 4 nibs (2F, 2XF) only ONE of them would operate without a royal PITA of adjustments. My Majohn A1 dries out in a little over a day. The Jinhao 10? 3-4 days. (Not super, but as my go-to desk writer at the mo', this is a 'zero-issue' for me.)
I received the Ensso Bolt in brass about 10 days ago, and I love it to death. Made all other capless pens obsolete for me (aside from my Lamy Dialog 3, which is a bit of a different horse, I feel). I can't say anything about its dryout time, since it's been in constant use in my minimalist bullet journal for work and personal life. First pen I wrote through two converter's worth of ink in this short a time, usually I have too many pens inked up at the same time. While I love the design of the Eclipse, I like pen loops too much for my workhorse pens and I feel the contraction of the body would trigger everytime I try to stow away the pen...
I'm a Capless Fermo user myself. What would you say the Ensso Bolt has over the Capless? I like fidgeting with mine, but the Bolt doesn't quite look as fun first glance...
@ it’s more about practicality for me. The construction is very sturdy, the only moving parts are all made from solid metal. There’s no clicker protruding from the end, the pen has the same length (aside from the very small nib) open vs closed. The diameter is comfortable and stays the same across the whole length of the pen. The mechanism is very satisfying. And the design reminds me a lot of an old tool, something an engineer in the 1800s would have used, with the brass and everything. I find it just perfect as a workhorse. I think I would have liked the titanium version, but in brass it just hits the right spot for me.
I have the brass Bolt review coming, I just shot it yesterday. Big fan of the Bolt, and the brass construction makes the bolt action very smooth and quiet
Here is my story with this pen in brief. Pre-ordered the pen, received it the pen leaked badly and the "fingers" were sharp and annoying and sanded them with micro-mesh. The first pen was replaced with a second pen, same issues, leaked badly and metal edges were sharp. Contacted them and said there was a new version coming. Two months later after contacted them, they sent yet a third pen, the edges seemed more finished and the pen did leak. but instead dried out, no what ink I put in it. The pen has sat in the drawer. I tested the pen for leaking using your test and ithe pen is indeed not sealed, I wrote the company again about ten minutes age and am waiting a response. I hope they make it right like they did for you.
Hey TH-cam, I read somewhere on the interweb that Doodlebud's about the same height as Victor Wembayama. Is that true? Just asking so I adjust for that when I try to work out from his videos what pens will look like in my tiny hands.
I have two Narwhal pens and both are piston fillers. Both of them have the same problem...that is...if i want to fill up the pen and unscrew the piston knob, the enite pisotn mechanism unscrews and comes out. Its very irritating. I feel they could have easily fixed this with locking threads or opposite threads or something. Anyone else faced the same issue?

Attempted damage control, but they bungled it badly. Going "oh crap!" once they find out you have an audience is about the worst way they could have handled it. To claim they had their team review that initial video and say "Yep, working as intended" tells you everything you need to know about the *company* , not necessarily the product. If you get a good one, great! But if you get a bad one, all bets are off.

I had techs who knew how to deal with customers and I had techs who didn’t. In short, after having two techs team up for several weeks the end result was the same about 80% of the time. The new tech would usually improve in the short term but it never lasted. Most of them were laid off or quit. I feel like you know this already, a companies attitude is a top/down trend. It’s purely a matter of mechanics…Which is the larger issue? The shite show you went through the first time around OR the VP reaching out for damage control. I know what matters to most people and it’s not a phone call after the fact.
Why does it dry out faster than the Pilot Vanishing Point?. I have the earlier silver pen as shown and I hate it ....Majohn A1,23,Jinhao 10 and even the cheapest retractable pen...the Oaso with the membrane nib door. .all start after weeks of non use. Btw this is for you and your viewers ..a new sentence that contains all alphabets(like the fox one)...Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs...
bad company, bad pens. the only reason they did anything for you is because you have a youtube channel. now you're making another video saying "actually they're good guys" and more people will be tricked into buying their bad products.
I think the initial customer service was terrible, typical, and disappointing. I hope they will treat every customer fairly, even without a TH-cam channel.

And what the results tell me is that they've been consistently releasing bad quality products and giving bad customer service for a very long time now. I think if they wanted to change the way they do things, they would have done it already. I think a company like that should not be rewarded for finally giving good customer service to one youtuber.

I had issues with a new Nahvular Original Plus Matira. Customer service was immediate and spot on after I reached out.
I picked up the nautilus bronze corydoras Medium Nib and find it writes more like a fine. Still love it and everything Nahvalur.
With the sailor tuzu I can go 2 months without writing and it will not dry out. Has become my EDC

The more I see it the more I like it, better now with the improvements done.
My Eclipse sat up for two weeks and did not dry out. Pen writes well and its looks are certainly unique.

The maintenance is the same on each pen. Out of the 3 you mentioned the vanishing point has been the best at sealing

Does the pocket clip get in the way of writing -- looks very awkward -- compared to a Mont Blanc or other "classical" style fountain pens?

The first Nahvalur pen I bought was the Nautilus 365 and so far it is perfect. No dry out, writes excellent, Titanium, ink window, love the pen.
