My big baby is a huge (St.Bernard/GSD), goofy, cuddle seeking lap dog at 90lbs who up until then never barked or growled, EVERYONE with an open hand or lap was a friend she'd want cuddles from. My other fur baby is a sweet Am. Staff/ Rott mix who can't control her licker and is my emotional support dog. One night my husband's at his night shift and I'm falling asleep on the couch and it's just me, and my fur babies curled up together in the house. Normally, I wouldn't be sleeping on the couch, but I was unusually exhausted and my fur babies were refusing to leave my side all day so this was my compromise. Big girl never misses a cuddle session but suddenly got up from my side and thumped her butt down in front of me. I don't mean sat in front of me, literally, there was a THUMP. Normally, she does this and then looks up at me if a stranger is around and she's asking me permission to approach them for cuddles, but she wasn't looking at me. It was 3am and there was no one in the house, but us. I go to sit up but my other fur baby quickly leans into me (Am.Staff/Rott) hackled up starring down the hallway toward our front door, preventing me from sitting up. I'm tired and confused when I hear the front door creaking open. Never seen 90lbs fly past me so fast. My big baby had the intruder by the pant leg and was shaking their leg and growling like baby girl learned to imitate a bear. All I hear is yelling and cursing as I walk up ready to greet our intruder with bear spray but I wanted to make sure they weren't wearing glasses first so I looked to their face and had to yell "drop it!" It was just my husband coming home for his lunch break. 😂 If dogs could blush from embarrassment my girls were practically so. They were belly up, smiling at him with the biggest puppy eyes they could muster. We later put two and two together and realized the reason they were so active at sticking to me that day and aggressive protection at night was cuz I was pregnant. They are so obsessed with my child now they won't leave his side.
Wow they are huge
Would be nice with time reference to show what is growl and what is roar.
