I feel this. I work hard . I’m a college graduate , never been on welfare etc , just work . Rent is expensive , food is expensive , gas is expensive . It’s truly a nightmare and I’m single with no kids at the age of 38. Every time I’m in a grocery store my heart thinks about all the parents with kids . Food is expensive ! Everything is and I’m just over it all

We need to have a national walk out day where everyone (except those who work at mom and pops shops) walks off their job for a day or two. The corps and government would get the picture fast. It's about time the lower and middle class stand up and demand better. There's social media, if people can organize flash mobs and storming area 51, they could organize this.

@Russ Ingram I'm only going by the small businesses I know about. The smoke shop my hubby goes to pays his employees really well, like several dollars an hour above what Smoker Friendly, the corp, pays. The owner says that he cannot pay himself well while his employees have to go to foodbanks to survive. So he said he would be happy to take a cut in pay. He's a sweet guy who treats everyone like family. Granted, it's just him, his wife, and a few guys who run the place so maybe things are different with very few employees.

Happening in Canada too. Just a few years ago I was doing fine. Saving a little money, gas in the tank, no habits like drinking or smoking, able to join a gym, no vacations abroad. Now, zero savings, bills barely getting paid, repairs needed to an aging car because now new cars are only affordable if you're doing very well. The government's usual answer: get a better education and therefore a better job. That's it, nothing else.

This inflation is courtesy of the Federal Reserve the private Central Bank of the USA that "prints" fiat currency 💲 at its will. Bec currency losses its value the more They make of it and so prices increase.. Neither President nor Congress has control over it ( but rather the opposite They have the power over the politicians ) and no its not Putin's fault Either.

The cost of living crisis appears to be a global problem, although here in the UK it has been made worse by the increase in the prices of many goods. I believe that the government can bring into play a policy that helps reduces inflation, but for some reason, I don't think they are concerned about how the common person would do in these strangely challenging times.

If you work on the media, you should've known that they're hard to reach. Do you know that Standard Oil company (owned by Rockefeller) supplied the energy to Nazi camps? Nestlé and Coca Cola as well. Isn't that a betrayal as Jewish family? I believe that the rich plotted the biggest heist against the innocent Jewish people. There's also a "divide and rule" approach taken by Israel to expand its power, especially on the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Dividing Russia and USA, they're actually benefitting from it, because somehow Whitehouse said Russia is getting closer with Israel. Israel will be the new superpower

I remember starting my job as I was homeless and ended up living in my car (with my boyfriend at the time for over six months), I was ashamed and felt like I had to hide my situation from my employer and coworkers for fear of being judged or even worse, being rejected and/or shamed ...
One of the most difficult things that we encountered was trying to keep up with hygiene and if you have a job in America, this is an expectation... (And for the most part, understandably so... Especially if you work in a restaurant/or any food industry)...
Our ONLY solution in my home town was a local Salvation Army, but good luck finding a real reason to stay there...
    Especially if you work nights...
(You're not able to get in after nine pm!)
You are unable to afford a reasonable place to live, but you are expected to be able to pay (I believe in 2016, the cost was $14, per night and that's to sleep on a tiny mat in the hallway on the floor with about 20 other people doing the same thing...)
You're locked up in this room from 9pm and then you're waken up for breakfast and they immediately kick you out at 6am...
    ($14 per night × 30 (ish*) days = $ 420 month)...
(There's only two free chances to get a free night, if it's heavily raining/"pouring" ALL night, or if temperatures fall below 40° or something like that...)
(Staying in the facility oftentimes has other challenges, sometimes clicks form and can be like staying in a bullying/bully type of environment--or risking illnesses for being locked up in tight quarters with others is always another potential issue, even before monkeypox and COVID-19 came into the scene...)
How is someone expected to afford that and somehow, simultaneously, save up for the 2-4k needed to get your own place... While trying to find hope, meaning, and possibly the will to live...
My experience with the Salvation Army was that they had some pretty good food, but that was it ....
I remember asking them if they had clothes as all I had was the outfit I was wearing (summer time in FL, and I didn't have a chance to prepare, so for me, this was a tank top and a pair of jean shorts, and flip flops that I didn't have for long before they fell apart from extensive walking/heavy usage....)-- and they told me "No, but if I get a job, then they could give me clothes, I was like, you guys get donations -- and make large profits from the sales of those donations...
Broke people can't afford to buy..."
    (Who are you really helping?)
It's like that sounds good on paper, but when you actually analyze the whole picture, I don't know how they're still in business....
It was the same thing with my family that didn't understand, we all make mistakes, and lacking any real/reasonable solutions in terms of a social safety net...
In a society that relies on a portion of the population to be stuck in a position of perpetual downward spirals...
    (War on poverty)...
I said I would be happy to get a job and get back on my feet, but I said that realistically in our digital and technology-dependant society, without an address for me to put on an application, without the safety and security to be able to lock up and be able to leave any (potential) belongings--
The reality was that unless I got a job, was hired on the spot, able to start that day AND they're able to supply me with a 'uniform' (most jobs won't allow that for work attire and that's mostly understandable in terms of safety and liability issues..)
I didn't have an address or phone number for them to get ahold of me....
(Yes, you can get a gov phone, but they need a mailing address...)
(Where are you able to charge your phone?)
Rarely, in the year 2022, do you have the privilege of walking into a job and starting that day anymore... It's all "apply online"...
You can do a LOT of walking when you're homeless, if you stop, you can't stop, most likely the place you go to catch your breath is owned by the state or a personal/private residence, and despite the fact that you have been a hard worker and contributed to taxes and the society of the town your not welcome in for the past 15 years or so, you'd better keep it moving...
(My city was even labeled nearly a decade or two ago as the worst place to be homeless and this was in terms of how they're treating them and the way our community deals with and sees the "homeless" problem --they criminalized it and just try to keep them out of site...
(* "Keep it moving" laws, etc. etc...)
I could keep going, but I'll digress--these are just some of the issues that we often leave out when we are never able to discuss these real reasons to be able to find real solutions that could actually help our struggling neighbors and friends...
(Shouting that the "Salvation army is right up the street" hasn't/doesn't do any good... But let's keep throwing money at them and then we'll never take the time to review the databases and reflect on how well the way we're doing things has been working for us so far....? Should we make changes?) --

If you are on Social Security Disability & SNAP (or Social Security Retirement) - that Cost of Living Adjustment is basically useless because my SNAP benefits went down. Social security gives you that COLA so you can pay for things like rising fuel prices (home heating/cooling or gas in your car if you have one) and other things that cost more because of the increase in the cost of living. If you are on SNAP and Social Security, your state’s welfare office has already determined your SSD/SSRI benefits aren’t enough to cover all you need to and pay for food too, so you get SNAP. If SNAP reduces benefits when you get a COLA from Social Security, then you’re left just trying to pay for everything else with the same amount of money you had last year. Not that having SNAP isn’t immensely helpful, I would not be able to buy food without it, but my natural gas/electric bill went up, I’d have liked that puny 5.9% COLA to go to that.
