I’m not sure how much money you are making reselling, but you are very talented with the video aspect. You are one of the few resellers I still consistently watch and it’s more about you than what you are picking up to sell!
When the thrill of the hunt and the joy of the score eludes you, take a break and breathe. Everything ebbs and flows. Don't beat yourself up. Your mojo will return. Live your life for you. Not for us. And not for the trolls. Trust me, you are ok and doing just fine. We have your back.
I’ve been re-selling for about a year and a half. It’s been dry, dry, dry at the resell stores. I went to 3 today and came home with 6 things and really no bangers. It’s been so hard to find enough to list on a consistent basis. And add buyers wanting the items I searched hours for, came home and cleaned, steamed, took pics, and researched the item and worked on the descriptions, for basically free… well it’s not an easy job. It’s also tough when you see some TH-cam resellers seemingly finding incredible items and selling for much higher prices. Thanks for your realistic look at the life of a reseller! You are a breath of fresh air!
Sherri - give yourself grace. Your content (and heart) is amazing. Keep it going… I really think your content is a step above and really think more people will find you genuine and become followers.
TIP… take a picture of the sale color chart then you’ll have it when you wonder. Thrifting prices are crazy high everywhere anymore. July … buyers are spending on things like school supplies for their kids and grandkids. Think outside the box. Where can YOU get items to sell that make it worthwhile for you? What type of item can you learn about selling maybe flatware? Purses? Brooches? Pick one thing and learn it makes it easier than trying to learn lots of things at once. Most of all … who cares what others think… get past that.
Girl! I got my ticket and I am HERE for the ride!!! Love your honesty, your humility and greatly appreciate your sharing your experiences. It's so easy to get caught up in a "Game Plan" and almost forget to enjoy the game. We can oftentimes, tie our own hands with all the rules and restrictions we create for ourselves as resellers. I'm learning to create some informed hard stops for my purchases, but giving myself room to enjoy what I purchase with the help of Keywords, understanding clothing trends and yes-buying what's "pretty". I love being in the reseller community and one of the main reasons, is I have found many wonderful women like you Sherri, who inspire me and make me feel seen. Love you girl!
Sherri, you are not a loser. You are a wonderful wife, mother, grand, friend and you were an amazing daughter. You are new at “being serious” at reselling- you will get there. I think most people just shop less in July - it’s the month of picnics, and beaches, etc. and people will start shopping again. Hang in there - and sometimes a good cry is the best thing.
I love your videos. I watch you for the humor and the great sense of style you have. I have been reselling a little over 2 years and it’s a constant struggle for me. I love the thrifting part 😂
Oh Sherri! You beautiful soul ❤ Having an off day and sitting in your car crying is just proof you are human!! It happens! The Thrifting God's are not always with us. They have to Grace others occasionally. You are doing an amazing job doing what you do. You have brought so many tips & tricks to us resellers and no doubt joy to all of your subscribers ❤ I enjoy your content and love seeing a new video posted. So, have your bad day...they are required unfortunately, and remember you are knocking life outta the park! This also may be a reminder that you need down time for yourself 😊 you cannot fill up an empty cup with an empty pitcher! Thank you for being real with us. I am rooting for you, as always, my friend!!
So many others have already said what I was thinking, but I had to add my 2¢. :D You are absolutely my favorite TH-cam reseller to watch, because you are so REAL and don't give us a sugar-coated version of thrifting & reselling. (I've been reselling for about 20 years, and it ain't always a picnic!) Also, I greatly admire the fact that you can thrift and record at the same time! It takes all of my concentration to look at stuff and decide what to get; I'd never be able to manage a camera, too! You're doing a terrific job, friend. Like you told yourself, stay consistent; the results will come in time. ♥
I felt just like you when I started trying to look for things that have a good sell through rate. I have decided I’m going back to my old way, which is buying what I like, that I can sell for $18 and more. I still look at sell through rate m, but I also shop for other treasures as well. Now I’m excited to thrift again ❤ Thank you so much for your videos. I look forward to every one of them 😊❤
I've been catching your videos for awhile now. This one touched my heart. We all have our story of struggle. This was a good teaching video for why we need to see a community of re-sellers. This is not an easy job. Not often appreciated either. Remember you do more than sell items. You give back too. Keep things out of landfills and provide an item for someone looking. You might not hear thank you for that. So thank you!. The hardest thing I learned was to "pivot". Throughout the year we have to change with the tide of the publics need or want. Not always easy to figure out. Great video!
I’m at a crossroads with my reselling business right now. I’m not thrifting anymore and only selling what I have and purging my house first. I’m going to reevaluate around December.
Absolutely the realest video I have seen! Been here from the beginning with you and my heart felt your discouragement. I am glad you are better! I had a huge turn around after watching Trash panda thrifts. They have great keyword and style based videos that elevated my thrift store trips. YOU are the best Sherri!!! ❤
I started watching your channel maybe a little over a month ago and I’ve watched everything you ever put out… I’m addicted mostly to your personality but your advice is amazing. You’re just so much fun to watch and so real. I too had a bad July as a reseller. Keep the videos coming. I look every day to see if there’s a new one from you. You make my day! ❤
When you picked up the flatware at the 1st sale, I was yelling no! Check that out! A lot of sellers get good money for even incomplete sets. I was thinking that you need to branch out into something other than clothes. DO NOT give up! I worked in regular retail for many years. July and August and part of September was always slow. Love your videos!
July was a bad month for me selling too. Sales were down everywhere honestly though. I work at a smoothie shop and are business has been slower lately too. Hopefully things will start picking back up soon for everyone. Just take the time to learn more about what you enjoy and find your niche at what you enjoy and know. You’re a good person putting yourself out there so do what makes you happy. Have a great week!
Was going through the jewelry that absolutely must bring a good price, today, and became extremely disheartened after Googling it, so your video was great, it made me realize that others go through this, too. It made the experience easier to recover from, so a big thanks!
I think you're doing great! There is always a learning curve. And as you said your purpose changed...no longer a hobby...actually trying to make money. And if you can get it cheap enough don't be afraid to buy it. It's called , "Thrift School"! You learn with every purchase! At least that's how I look at it. Love watching and learning from your journey!
Garage sales have been very strange this year. I remember when I used to have a legal size pad size paper full of sales to hit on Saturday and not get home until 12 or 1. Now I get home by 10! Very sad. We live in a town that grew very fast over Covid, so I am surprised more people are not having them.
Thank you for the inspirational talk. I would love more of that from resellers. Just knowing others think and feel the same way helps so much! Onward we go! ❤
My July sucked donkey ba**s. I think it can be discouraging when you see people post about certain things selling, and then you can't move it to save your life. I try not to compare my sales to anyone and just do my thing. Sometimes, it works out, sometimes not, but I feel it's a new learning lesson every day. Love your honesty, and sarcasm...Versace plates 😂
I'm glad I found your videos. I started resalling back in July so I'm pretty spanking new to the resalling mindset and process as a whole.. I totally gone and go thru what you talk about from getting down about what you are or not finding to learning to readjust as you go each day. Thank you for your sincerity because I can see that I'm not alone in having questions, doubts, or just needing connect. Thanks, and keep up your hard work!😊
I am so happy that I came across your channel. Once I did, I proceeded to binge watch every video. You are so creative and talented. It makes me sad to hear that you cried, but, I totally understand how you felt. Sometimes I feel like I have no idea what I am doing trying to resell. I just want to be successful at something. Thank you for all the work you put into your channel and videos. I really appreciate you!!!
I own a catering company and believe me the summer months are HARD, People are on vacation, the lifestyle of many is slower. Grit your teeth and know that it DOES get better. It is the slow time, and you Will do better, Practice some self care my friend and remember you Will do this.
I had that same experience last Tuesday where I couldn’t find anything worth picking up. I got upset, frustrated, wanted to give up, felt mentally tired. But as I continued to walk around in the store I told myself “it’s ok, just remember that the other store has a sale on Thursday and maybe just maybe you’re meant to save this money to spend it over there because there’s gonna be better stuff”. So I took a deep breath and left that store content. On Thursday I went to the other store and yup! Found better items there! So just know that maybe one day you won’t find what you want but the next day or the next store down the road you will. God always has your back❤
No matter what type of business your in, there are going to be slow times. I always worried I was doing something wrong, when times got slow. Then we would get busy again and I'd have a hard time keeping up. We owned a dry cleaners and I alwo did the alterations. We were in business from 1980 till 2011. But every year , slow times and I worried, I think that was part of my job to do the worring.😂
Sometimes thrifting is unfruitful. It’s part of the game. And the summer slowdown is real. Thanks for your honesty as well as your humor in these videos.
Thank you Sherri for the talk at the end! I’ve been reselling off and on for years and decided to try it again this summer. I’m also making mistakes and having things sit for awhile. It is absolutely tough and so many make it look easy. I’m trying to find the joy in reselling cause it sure beats working at an office. I love your advice and your quips. Keep it coming, you’re doing a great job!
Be encouraged, my July stank too. Embrace the highs and lows and enjoy the journey. We still are learning even when we just see lots of junk. I always enjoy the EDUtainment! Thanks, Sherri.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. I am just like you. I want to take my business to another level. I put in a lot of work but sadly the summer slow down is here and I feel like I’m doing nothing. I do hope that my hard work will show after the slow down. Hang in there, I love watching you.
I'm kinda sorta in a similar boat after Saturday's yard sales - but for a different reason (although one you mentioned as the several struggles we go through). Background: I started in early June, and I committed myself to this 100% (I had several reasons). So, last Friday I bought a bunch of books. I paid up for them. Why? Because I was too excited to get them and I didn't stop to calculate the actual per-book price I was paying, and I could have swore the sold comps were higher than what I discovered them to be when I started listing (certainly not the first time that's happened). I also didn't examine them (my biggest personal issue). If I had, I would have noticed the cigarette smoke stains and smell. I screwed up. So Saturday, this huge error was weighing on my mind as I went to the dozen or so yard sales on my list. Nothing was good enough. For the first time ever, I didn't buy a single thing. Usually I have 2 or 3 totes of decent items. Was it my state of mind, or was it all just garbage and/or over-priced? I can't actually recall anything good to buy, but I'm still frustrated. Will I get my money back? Yes, but not in time and effort to clean all these books up and get them listed. Hopefully this hard lesson sinks in and gives me cause to take a breath and think before I buy. Can you overthink? Yes. Can you not think enough? Absofreakinlutely. Hang in there… cuz I will.
It can be so discouraging, and I can imagine it would be so much harder having an audience for everything you do. I have only been doing this a year, but there is such a huge learning curve, IMHO. Like you, it was only in May & June that things really started to come together for me and then wham -- summer slowdown. I am SO ready for it to be over. It's hard going through all the steps and not seeing the results. Your channel is awesome, Sherry, and definitely edutainment (sp?)! If it helps at all, I am not one of the viewers saying you should have picked up this or that. I just find it interesting what other resellers choose. Keep doing what you're doing. I think in the fall we'll be laughing our way to the bank. And if not, you will keep us laughing, anyway! Thanks for all you do.
Take comfort in knowing that summer plus a bad economy has challenged all of us. I'm trying to change my thinking also and focus on killing it in the last quarter and just let it be what it will be. I think the worst thing we can do for our business is to buy just to fill our daily listing goal. My sales this month have been from offers I've sent out, not from eBay promotions. Keep on going, your videos are entertaining and give us some good tips.
Sending hugs, I've been reselling for about a year and a half, and I love your truth and honesty. Some days I feel the same way and I'm like thank God I still have my full time job, but I would really love to leave it!
I've walked away empty handed many times ! I'm thinking Election Years are always an uncertain and slow time , that's my theory anyway ! Non to worry, you will kill it in Q4 and Q1 ! Hard goods do have a better ROI most of the time. Like you i love clothes but have narrowed it down to activewear, hunting wear and such with always an eye for anything and everything. Found my lucky Buckeye and Crystal ! lol.. seems to be working.
I enjoy your videos so much. I appreciate your honesty when things don't go as we hope. I gives me encouragement when I'm not the only one that has bad sourcing days or sales. It's real life. Thanks so much! Happy sourcing and selling! Debbie
I'm in California, in a mall. Summers are always bad. People go on vacations, kids are out of school and people like to spend time in their gardens. My sales are real low right now and were in july also. Same with other dealers I'm close too. If you love what you're doing keep doing it. Make it fun again!
I think that you've been very fortunate to pick up great items for little to nothing to increase your profit. However, that's not the norm, and you're experiencing that now and not willing to pay. You're on the right track to frequent other places to expand and educate.
I have always loved thrifting and have been reselling now about a year. I’m very part time. I rarely thrift to keep anymore (too much stuff) but only to resell. And frankly buying only what makes the most profit isn’t near as enjoyable as thrifting things I love and reselling with less profit. One of my best % profits were two sealed bottles of hair rejuvenation products that I paid $2 for and sold for $100. Was thrifting for that fun? No. So I’m going back to less profit and more fun. I realize that everyone has different $ goals and profit is the driving force which I completely understand. But at 71 I’ve long realized that if I don’t enjoy it, I’m less likely to continue. Hang in there Sherri. I’ve watched for a few years now and remember how you enjoy those pretty hard goods😉 Your fans are on the ride with you.
Please don’t be so hard on yourself! I think you’re doing a great job and I love watching your videos! You have a wonderful sense of humor and, yes, I’m learning a lot from you. We both know that things don’t always go as planned, but we keep moving forward. Good grief, I’m sounding like a big cliche or Hallmark card! Seriously though, please don’t stop sharing the ins and outs, it is reality, and shows everyone that this isn’t easy and reselling takes effort and perseverance. You got this honey, tomorrow is another day 😊💜😊
Its the same world wide. I walk out of op shops with next to nothing. They are either too dear or just nothing good. Garage sales are just not worth the effort. On the back of that people are not buying like they used to. They hammer you on price and you end up making a dollar
Dear Sherry, love your videos! You are allowed to be picky luv, and hopefully you are working smarter not harder!’ You are a joy to watch. Here’s to great sells on all you thrift. Hugs, Meme
I've been struggling with this too. Trying to find more items to sell because I desperately want to do this full time one day. Sometimes I just feel like I'm not finding enough and other times I feel really lucky. I appreciate you sharing and I realize now I'm not alone.
Howdy! July sales were July sales few! My Sales were slow. You are becoming wiser and having more acknowledgment to items that people pass by. One day at a time. Past is the past. Press forward. We will cheer you on! 🎉.. Blessings!
Sherri - from a thrifting sister who shares your name (mine is spelled Sherri too! - if your middle name is also Kim, that would be freaky, lol) I also share your pain and self doubt when I don't get a win. I remind myself to keep my eyes on the goal and keep moving forward, brush that unfruitful day...or week off and out of your mind. Just move forward. I recently left a part time job that sucked the life outta me. I'm new to reselling so still learning hard lessons. I'm gonna keep moving forward. Prayers for both of us ❤
Eduentertainment, I love it! You are doing great, I’m so sorry you felt bad, and cried. You’re so brave to share everything you’re going through. You just don’t have the best places to source great items. Resale Mania lives in Montana, I think. He finds unbelievable items to resale. Just the area you live can determine what you find. You put that pretty chin up and keep on keeping on. Love your videos. Ann in Indiana
Sounds like all the fun has been drained out of the hunt. Wondering if there's a sweet spot between fun and str. Based on other YT'ers I've watched, going to full time can kill a lot of the fun because of the increased pressure to produce. I'm glad you're allowing yourself the grace of space. Good wishes to you, Sherri! ❤
Hi Sherrie, I am a part time, part time reseller. The first time I heard you use that phrase I felt it perfectly described me. I feel that it’s more and more difficult to resale because, now all the thrift stores are asking astronomical amounts for everything. I buy from online auctions too, and they used to have great stuff but now their stuff is junk and it’s difficult to find items to resale. I have always just sold things to make a little money and I’ve always been happy with the little money. But I really understand how you feel and I want to send a virtual hug 🤗
I really needed to see this today! I started my reselling business that last week of June, so it's been a bit 😢 discouraging. I think the slow sales of July have been disheartening for several of us. Don't be hard on yourself. Stress can get to all of us in one way or another. I admire your discipline in not picking up things just because they're cheap & cute. I need to work on that myself! Your videos helped me start this journey. Your vulnerability and sharing your challenges gives me hope! Please keep edu-taining us! Thanks! ❤
Diana, I so badly want to succeed that it’s made me too cautious and has caused me to overthink. Thank you for sharing. I’m sure it will help others. ❤️❤️❤️
I think as the economy gets harder people might wear things longer and don’t buy new so much. I’m in Canada and thrift prices are just too much! You inspire me and love watching your videos 😊❤️
Thank you for sharing the good and the bad - it makes me feel less alone when I see all the fabulous hauls and I’m walking out of the store empty handed. I recently had a MAJOR dry spell also and was starting to feel desperate. I’m like you and try to be as frugal as possible but I’ve also started to feel more comfort paying up for items I’m confident with. I recently picked up a dress for $30 and sold it in a week for $120.00. I’m working on not letting my frustration or disappointment take over. Forge ahead and things will turn around. I’m a work in progress. 😅
You came over to my side of the world today. I am traveling further abroad too, to find better things. Now you know why I'm so jelly of that 2-story thrift store you go to! It doesn't get much better than that
I think if I change up my thrifting routes and venture out just a bit more, I may find better stuff. When you go to the same stores day after day, you just about know what’s new and what’s been sitting on the shelves forever. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm looking for items for fall and winter specifically.... oh look, Hawaiian shirts! Heehee. Take a breath. Give it a year to go through all the seasons and holidays, and then reflect. Right now, just be a machine, plodding along doing what you know to do, repeat, repeat, relax. Results will come. Sherri needs to give herself a break. Nobody judges you as much as you judge yourself. Stop it. :)
There’s no crying in reselling. There’s lots of crying in being a woman of a certain age. My problem is I find lots of stuff but have a hard time listing it. I appreciate you Sherri, thank you.
I know the feeling, I'd get excited finding community sales & go make the drive & there would be 2 or 3 sales total so i dont go to them much anymore.....so disappointing!
I know I've seen too many spooky videos, but why is that shirt sleeve moving behind you like that?😮 Also, go easier on yourself, I love your honesty and vulnerability. You are so lovely!❤
Hi Sherie u r doing fine. Not every reseller does the same selling r buying. I don’t think what u c on TH-cam is all true. All resellers r having a hard time because people r having a hard time. It will be ok. 😅
Hi Sherri! You are my new favorite TH-cam reseller! Thanks so much for your wonderful personality and great educational content. I’m trying to find your eBay store. You may have the link below your videos, but I’m not seeing it. Can you list that please. Thanks so much!
Sherri, you should have went back to bed when you went home and cooked for your husband. Then you could have gotten up on the "right" side😅 And everything would have been all better.
I’m not sure how much money you are making reselling, but you are very talented with the video aspect. You are one of the few resellers I still consistently watch and it’s more about you than what you are picking up to sell!

I know you might hit "a jackpot" once in awhile, but there's a couple that hit them every time😂. I'm like just be honest, their videos look fake.
Saying NO to more things is also a good tip in reselling.
I love your videos
Very brave to put yourself out there, don't worry about being 'judged', just be yourself and ignore the naysayers.
Sherri - give yourself grace. Your content (and heart) is amazing. Keep it going… I really think your content is a step above and really think more people will find you genuine and become followers.

I LOVE Trash Panda Thrifts, they have been an eye opener for me, for sure!
@@livinglushly4597 Yes! Sherri and Trash Panda are my go to when I feel discouraged, when I am listing, when I am driving... Anytime!!!

Sherri you are so much fun. Compared to a lot of selling youtubers your fun ans honest and real.

Where I live the church has a big sale twice a yr. They don’t price anything. You just get what you want and give a donation. It’s my favorite sale ‼️
Thank you for the pep talk you gave yourself. I really needed that today! I love your channel.
Thank you for the inspirational talk. I would love more of that from resellers. Just knowing others think and feel the same way helps so much! Onward we go! ❤
Your doing a great job, just keep going and don't give up! I love your videos, your hilarious!

You are amazing and have a great channel give yourself some time and try again because you are fabulous 😊
We all have those days. Most u tubers just don't talk about it. Just know your not alone. And that everyday is not going to be a homerun.
You got this honey, tomorrow is another day 😊💜😊
I think you are doing very well. I enjoy your sense of humor! Thanks for the video!
Its the same world wide. I walk out of op shops with next to nothing. They are either too dear or just nothing good. Garage sales are just not worth the effort. On the back of that people are not buying like they used to. They hammer you on price and you end up making a dollar
Your videos are amazing keep being honest
🎉.. Blessings!
July is always rough. Hang in there.
you right
Sherri - from a thrifting sister who shares your name (mine is spelled Sherri too!
I agree give yourself grace !
Have you looked into whatnot ?? I feel like you would be amazing on there
I don’t thrift and don’t resell but I think you were definitely too hard on yourself. Some days are like that. Glad you shared. ❤
You make my day u are so funny pray u accomplish your goal, look forward to seeing your home.
Enjoyed. We are going to have ups and downs in everything we do. You will be OK.
Some days are good sone days not so good.
Love ya Sherri. Trust your gut. 🎯
Have you tried Facebook marketplace, local auctions, estate sales? Maybe it’s just time to try a new source?
Great motivation in this video. I, too am stuck reselling (in a booth).
Changing focus is hard! LOL
Thanks for sharing with us in youtube land ;)
TIP… take a picture of the sale color chart then you’ll have it when you wonder.
Thrifting prices are crazy high everywhere anymore.
I really should start doing that. It’s like my brain stops working when I walk into a store! 😂
Its just a dry spell, hang in there! 😁
@@SimplyThriftingWithSherri agree!! There's some good stuff out there, don't give up. The constant pressure of YT keeps me from doing it.
I feel your pain. You can do this!
Dankeschön❤
8:50 Gee! Just how late does Mr. C sleep? 😂😂
I know the feeling, I'd get excited finding community sales & go make the drive & there would be 2 or 3 sales total so i dont go to them much anymore.....so disappointing!
I know I've seen too many spooky videos, but why is that shirt sleeve moving behind you like that?😮
Also, go easier on yourself, I love your honesty and vulnerability. You are so lovely!❤
Summer slow down, don't take it personally.
Don’t take the fun out of it. Then it’s just a job. Hang in there ❤
Hi Sherie u r doing fine. Not every reseller does the same selling r buying. I don’t think what u c on TH-cam is all true. All resellers r having a hard time because people r having a hard time. It will be ok. 😅
I only do estate sales cause you can't find anything at yardsales..
Hi Sherri! You are my new favorite TH-cam reseller! Thanks so much for your wonderful personality and great educational content. I’m trying to find your eBay store. You may have the link below your videos, but I’m not seeing it. Can you list that please. Thanks so much!
You are doing the right things. Don't buy junk just to buy something. I love your sense of humor and your videos!
❤
Sherri, you should have went back to bed when you went home and cooked for your husband. Then you could have gotten up on the "right" side😅 And everything would have been all better.
❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤😀❤👏
Where do you find the list of yard sales?
I think you haven't found your niche.
