Bruh, this girl managed to escape a battle barely alive againts the 3rd strongest only to run into the 1st.
It's like beating the 'Final boss' only to walk into the real final boss

she even uses hostages to get away witth railgun
but in this scene its kuroko another lv4 teleporter who made her retreat well if not for her trauma teleporting her self there's no way kuroko can beat her since her teleportation ability is the strongest in academy city its just like comparing accelerator with railgun, railgun can unleash his strongest attack but accelerator can deflect or reflect or even reconfigure the attack or how mental out attack are ineffective to railgun because of her electro magnetic field.
and since she teleported and a long distance jump at that, and even and even teleported twice in a row which cause to trigger her trauma and give accelerator the opening and its accelerator his a prodigy he is the smartest in academy city even without his ability to manipulate vectors.

Touma's always complaining about his bad luck, but Awaki just barely escaped a fight with Kuroko and Misaka alive only to stumble into Accelerator.

This post is looooooooong, so prepare yourself. I love the fact that TH-cam comments can be as long as you want now.
The whole point is that while Touma is not the type of person who would normally be a hero, he is often put in circumstances that make him go down that route, since at his core, Touma is seriously altruistic. And since he has Imagine Breaker(among other things), he is able to overcome normally insurmountable odds through a lot of luck and determination.
*SPOILER*
Take for example the newer New Testament volumes. He goes up against Othinus, who has the power to destroy the entire universe(she can do pretty much anything). He is able to survive the destruction of the universe because of Imagine Breaker, so the two of them go against each other, and Touma is forced to go against her countless times. She defeats him, over and over, and while he gets progressively more used to her attack pattern, he doesn't really get close to beating her. But he still goes about it, fighting over and over again in order to get Othinus to give him back the world. Then, in the final world, Othinus does something other than simply making Touma's life hell, she makes everyone else's lives perfect, so even though Touma wants to go back to his world, he can't bear the fact that he has to end everyone else's perfect lives, admits defeat, then tries to kill himself. Thanks to the Misaka Network, he is later able to find enough determination to go against Othinus again and get her to recreate his world.
Aaaand after all that, being tortured by Othinus countless times, being forced to go against the world many many times, he decides that "You know, even though you did all that, I'm going to protect you from the rest of the world, then make sure you get punished for your crimes in a fair manner. Because I'm so fucking selfless I'd go against all the monsters of the world for someone crying in front of me."

So yeah, I THINK TOUMA IS HERO MATERIAL.
Now, I'm going to go through the things you said in order.
"Touma doesn't do anything.. main character wise.. he's just there for Misaka to go all lovey dovey."
I'm sorry, but what have you been smoking? Doesn't do anything main character wise? He has saved billions of lives, done countless good deeds, and done it all without expecting anything in return, only mourning over his bad fortune while never abandoning anyone. He has done SO much main character stuff that it's epic. And in addition to saving thousands of her clones, he prevented her from effectively committing suicide by going against Accelerator alone(which was an important part of his plan), so yeah, some tsundere action is nice, even though he doesn't really notice, but hey, if he did know when people liked him, that would get pretty ugly very fast.

The reason why he often goes into battle unprepared is because it is often genuinely unexpected. There have been many occasions where someone like Tsuchimikado abrubtly nabs him out of his everyday life to go do stuff, and many of the things he goes through were spontaneous for him, so he really DOESN'T have time to prepare. He has shown that if he is in a position where he CAN plan, he will, and he will do it gloriously.

He doesn't want to have anything to do with the action packed side of the world, and he tries to avoid getting involved. He only really gets in on the action willingly when someone is in trouble. If he were to try to prepare for these things, he would be accepting that he is now a part of that world, which would be against his character.

This is where his altruism gets annoying. He wants everyone(EVERYONE) to go home happy at the end of the day, so he can't just ask for others help when he can help it, since that would endanger their happiness. He also DOES let others help him after some character development *nudge nudge*

This is indeed plot armour, but it's part of the canon universe. Touma WILL NOT die. That is indeed a part of the supernatural side of the To Aru universe, and it is indeed true that without it, he would be dead. That's the point of having it.

Touma isn't really that powerful(normally), so this is pretty much the only way that he CAN come out ahead realistically. He is a very serious Determinator.

Yeah she fought a few times but they weren't major."
First of all, yeah, you have a point about the religion stuff, but that's an integral part of the To Aru universe, since magic users get their powers from the Idol Theory. But I'm calling bullshit on the fact that lazer beams, stone golems, fire constructs, and blades made of electricity don't count as magic. Onto Index, she is the reason why Touma is connected to the magic side, so she fits the "catalyst" type of role of heroine more than anything else, but she is very relevant.

The show could have indeed been like that, but it isn't, so you can either whine, let it go, or make fanfiction.

I don't think he would've left her alone, his goal was to destroy the suitcase and the remnants of the satellite inside of it. But I'm pretty sure he would've left it at that.

Pretty much. He would have just taken the case and left; after the Sisters plan was ended, he didn't go around picking fights. Heck, he didn't even want to do the Sisters fights, really.... He actually likes to be left alone, it's the only reason he agreed to try for Level 6. So he could finally get idiots to stop trying to pick fights for fame and the government to stop trying to kill him. He wanted to be untouchable so he could chill in peace... After Touma punched him out, he was getting harassed a lot, which is why he has a little bit of a psycho-boner for Touma later; his rep was trashed, so he couldn't get morons off his back without pasting them. When she, in her hysteria, tried to bluff him off, he got a little peeved and decided to put her in her place. He wasn't going to hug her; he was mocking how pathetic she was acting at that point. He doesn't really hug people. But he wouldn't have turned her into street pizza; he would have just taken the components and went about his day. She got a big mouth and he helped her put her foot in it.
Oh so that's why he attacked her.

***** She was teleporting a massive object that would have destroyed the building(her ability can teleport an object up to something like 4 tons or something). The light that was shown was more for dramatic effect and/or the fact that the object that was being teleported was large and her ability is slower than a typical teleporter's(but is more versatile). Don't quote me on any of this, but these are the reasons I think to be right based on what I've read and/or heard.
If I ever gain esper powers/magic/become a cyborg and I ever get weakened at one point but STILL manage to be powerful, remind me to use that line.

The best part, or worst out of Awakis perspective, is that Accel wasn't actually out for blood. His main target was to destroy the suitcase to prevent the Sisters program being used for some shady business, he would have left it at that and let her go. But she just hat to start talking shit, didn't she.
Imagine meeting the Railgun and her lustful teleporter, barely escaping with your limbs and THEN running into the Accelerator.

Yes, it's a nice change of pace. It's also why I like the railgun series and fell in love with the characters. They're all strong and dependable on their own. The writer didn't write things in a way that they need your copy and pasted male MC to come and save them... though that is forced sometimes with touma showing up....
Well most of the female cast are competent fighters so questioning on hitting them would be a dumb idea.

Not metion that animation is sharp and clearer but effects is like some cartoon comics.. Try compare 3 versions of Accelators fights.. Animation quality: 1. Railguin - Touma vs Accel; 2. Index - Touma vs Accel, 3. Index - Accel vs Kakine. The battle could be one which break history but they made that to cartoon form.. If look to index - accel ability should be more realistic.. it control vectors gosh.. Even Accel 1st. awaking animation was way better than this season 3 fight

@@04Y she saved his life at the end of season 2. basically they are put into the same team and since accelerators powers can only be activated by the device around his neck, the enemy decided to jam his device that only worked because they were in a closed space, so she ventilated the area for him to get his powers back

nop this wasnt the same, she havent gained wings or a halo, she can only produce more and attack with more energy, kakines new power is unknown but accels new power allows him to control vectors WITHOUT TOUCHING, which makes him pretty much into the most powerful being after aiwass until now.....
Oddly enough though, Misaka generates her own wings in one of the side stories. From electricity and water. Basically creates a hydrogen powered rocket pack and flies around blowing the crap out of things.
