I have a Delta 780X that is made a bit different that i prefer. The outfeed table stays at the same height all the time and the cutterhead moves up/down. That way, you can setup the right height sawhorses or table to feed and catch lumber by yourself.
Fixed table is the best. I don’t know why it’s not the standard in this price/category of machine. Oliver is the only one making a fixed table that I know of right now, and the one I would have eventually got if I didn’t get the Grizzly for the price I did.
Thank you for this! I inherited a grizzly 20" planer that was, let's just say neglected and in need of some tlc. Feeling much better about tearing into it after watching you do it ;) Probably going to swap the in/out feed rollers like you did and upgrade to the rubber. sweet.
I have been using the tired out original in-feed metal roller just fine with the new rubber out-feed. Given that I barely have 500 bd ft through in 4 years (multiple passes of this boards) rubber on both is probably the best for a hobby shop since I don’t need the extra durability of metal for super high volume.
Website photo is not accurate and shows a tan colored roller instead of the black rubber roller that it actually is. www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-20-rubber-outfeed-roller-for-g1033-series-planers/t30534

This machine is pretty easy to work on and Grizzly keeps a well stocked and affordable parts catalog which is really awesome.
Are there any more possible mods you could do at this point? 😄
I could upgrade from my 3hp to a 5hp motor 🤔 … nah… I’m good.
@@samuelwiltzius oh come on. How hard could it be? 😂
You won’t believe it! this one guy on Instagram… hey, wait a minute.
What outfeed roller did you purchase? Share link? Thx!
