    The Fact that This much work is thoroughly done to each instrument has me Absolutely Ecstatic on the arrival of mine. I now appreciate the instrument for what it is but also the maker for the care put into every step. This is fantastic!

    My handpan is D Kurd, but the ding D is 30-40 cents higher (it’s almost D#). Can I tune at home? How do I do that, what tools do I need? Thank you

    I am wondering - Once the top section with the notes is tuned; when you attach it to the bottom section do the pitches change due to the enclosed space.

    When tuning, do you also recommend steel hardening? If so. What is a Rule of thumb?

    Tuning steel is a fascinating art. Good video, thank you for sharing. Is that Silly Putty?

    • @Gizmo1st
      @Gizmo1st 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably putty, it's used to dampen the note next to the one you want to tune so you don't get cross over.

    what app do you need to be able to tune it and hear what notes are being played

    Thanks so much for this info! Quick question, so what is it exactly that one has to do to make a note that has gone slightly sharp go back in tune? I have a stainless steel handpan in a Dminor celtic tunning and the middle D has gone slightly sharp... Many thanks again :)

    Excellent video! How long does a tune last on the hand pan? Does it vary with different metals?

      Depends on the experience of the tuner

    how tuning could be so rough and playing need so soft.
    I still have difficulty to understand why tuning is hard process while playing needs to be soft.
    I've always take care of playing quite softly and seeing all tuning process is still interrogating on stability.
    Steel, compressive and strain mystery.
    My english/amercian language is limited, but if someone have some more theoretical on how a steel & stress/strain structure build hardly on a balance state could need a soft sollicitation/use... Does anyone has an idea of which point of stress/force could altered a tone structure which has been stabilized before ?
    Higher tones would be more stabilized and i could understand it, but how physics could explain hard process to go a balanced state while a little more hard playing would detuned ?

      Because if you are striking it hard you will be "tuning" it yourself, 1000 of your strikes will amount to one slight strike of hammer. But you won't hit it in same manner as this man would. So over time it will change it's shape a little bit, and will need correction.

    Could I retune my handpan myself, by watching this video?

    • @Gizmo1st
      @Gizmo1st 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't listen to the previous reply. I know it's been 6 months and you probably wrecked your pan already, but you CANNOT tune your pan by watching this video. A lot can go wrong in Pan tuning very quickly without the years of experience it takes to get it right. Downloading an app and doing it yourself is a sure-fire way of wrecking your instrument. Probably not beyond repair, but if you use the wrong kind of hammer that is also a possibility.
