It is a place where traditionally cockfights are held, but also artistic presentations are made, such as the one mentioned by Juan Gabriel. Palenques are a very important part of the big ‘Ferias’* that take place in Mexico, such as La Feria de San Marcos in Aguascalientes, La Feria de León in Guanajuato or La Feria de Texcoco in the State of Mexico, which are the biggest ones, but there are smaller ones all over the country throughout the year. These fairs gather thousands of people and the artistic events are of great quality and of many genres, bringing the best artists of the moment and making great shows, where people sing, dance and drink a lot of tequila and other drinks such as mezcal and beer and all the time shouting: ¡Viva Mexico! 😉 * I don't know the exact translation of the word “Feria” as it is used in Mexico, but it could be similar to Carnival or a big party.

I respect whoever likes it, more than anything I don't like the way band instruments sound and it is true that there are some songs with very good lyrics, I think that the music from before had better lyrics, for example Juan Gabriel, Rocio Durcal, Los yonic's,los terrícolas, los temerarios etc, most of the songs from this bands are good, Now in the new generation of music they release only one good song or two on each album.
Banda is a very popular genre from the north of the Mexican Republic,but not every body likes it. Im from the center part of México and I dont like banda.
