Great video Dave! This has been super helpful in tandem with my Loomis head studies and gesture sketches. If I could suggest, as someone who always struggles with hands, a video on dynamic hand poses would be great to go along with this. You have your hands down to a shorthand at this point, and they all look so great and on point.
This video is an absolute blast! Love that it’s focussed on getting from a 70 to 100% more dynamism in a figure! That extra mile isn’t something that’s talked enough about on TH-cam tutorials. Incidentally, it’s the first time I’ve noticed just how much you press into the paper! Just an extra little quirks and fascinating details that would be awesome to see if they ever have the wisdom to do one of those huge artist’s edition of your work. Hope they do! Cheers

Excellent video! The way I read the last one makes it seem like two very different actions. The revised version looks like he's getting ready to do something, the original pose looks more like something has already happened and he's reacting, like he's getting to his feet after landing from a jump. They're both great, but unlike the others this one looks more like they're two completely different actions rather than evolving the same action pose.
"My solutions are really only one possible solution, and probably not the best." That comment made me let out an audible "PFFFFFFFT!" I love that you're so down to Earth, but your work is anything but; It's outstanding. Thank you for sharing it with us.

In the second example the first figure seems to be contemplative at the edge of a crater looking at a crash site perhaps, the modified figure is ready to take action after sizing up that situation, great work.
This is great! I think I needed this, give my full form drawings just another look with a different pose. Get the most out of it and not stay in the first draft so to speak.

I'm just another reader else here. Simplify and still know etc. What makes them recognizable when drawn small or seen from far away? Perhaps in the style sheets of these caracters try these mentioned options , besides the other usual ones...?

Not really the point of the video, but I really like the pose at 9:43. Looks like the mysterious fella is taking a short break on top of a subway or some other moving object in Manhattan or wherever he might be living, balancing against the motions of the train, legs dangling over the side, and getting ready to transition back into a more manual approach to traveling.
Nice video, thanks. A question unrelated to the specific content, how does everything in the video end up getting reversed (as in mirror image)? The lettering on your mic, the words on the coffee bag, etc. I'm just wondering how that happens. So, you're left-handed or right-handed? In the video it looks like left-handed, but if the image is reversed . . . ?
It's all a bit like why Frank Frazetta was great but Boris Vallejo was boring. Frank always incorporated movement, even into his still poses. Boris made everyone look like they had just posed for a polaroid (because they actually had). One made the figures seem alive with a minimum of line and color while the other made them look like amazingly detailed mannequins.
You could make "breaking out of boring poses" a regular series, that's how awesome this video is

I like the way you break down your processes. I practice new poses by breaking down a long scribble cursive-like line into several individual poses.
