We have an old tractor club here in the Scottish highlands . Always loads of Fergies to see at the annual agricultural show - last year saw one with a gold painted engine as opposed to your red. You gotta use the grey on the bonnet (sorry, hood) and fenders though, or in ain't a little grey Fergie. Awesome!
Me again. I've found my answer, (finally lol), from your site. 'How To Paint Scale Models With Cheap Spray Can Paints, No Airbrush Needed.' Keep up your super videos; they're fun, lively, informative and a joy to watch. Thanks!
A year + late but who knows... I have a fondness for tractors, goes way back. I suspect you do too as you went the extra mile to make this one look especially realistic. Very nice job ! I watched this video because I have a Revell Peugeot tractor kit to build. Tile grout aye? Genius. Love the craft paints for certain things. Why spend more than you have to? I learned a thing or two here today. Thanks Chris.
The first thing I ever drove was a mid-50s Massey-Ferguson very similar to that one when I was ten, sitting on my uncle's lap. Fine build, fine memories..
Fantastic little tractor, great build as always. I saw this little tractor the other day and was taken back to being a young lad driving on my uncle farm loading hampers of potatoes for him. I think he only used that tractor when I stayed with him over the school holidays. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel.
This reminds me of an old Ford tractor my former bosses had. We'd hook up a peice of chain link fence behind it and drag the gravel yard to level it out.
They are very similar but the little grey Fergie was the first. I worked for an agricultural engineering firm during the 70s and quite a few came in fo repair. Here in the UK 🇬🇧 we had many many small farms that these did the work still then. That's what petit gris means little grey, because they were all grey, not red and grey. They were the Massey Fergus on they only had a red bonnet/hood.
As a teen growing up here on a sheep station in the back and beyond of NZ in the 60's this is how I learnt to drive on a Ferguson TE-20 across the farm tracks and gravel roads Gear stick start and away.
My dad had one these tractors for many years. Although I'm not certain if it was a TE or FF but it had vertical exhaust and looked exactly like the model you've built. I remember that the PTO was driven off the rear axle so when the rear tires were moving, the PTO was always spinning. Also, this meant that if you were running the large mower deck off the back and needed to make a panic stop, it wouldn't stop. Even with the clutch in, that large spinning mower blade would continue to drive the tractor forward until it stopped spinning. Yeah, a dangerous setup; farming is a dangerous occupation. Anyway, you've made a fantastic looking model and brought back some very fond memories of our father who passed away in 2005. Today he is tinkering in the shop and playing with old tractors in heaven and wearing that trademark big smile that I sometimes see when I look in a mirror. I miss him tremendously.
Cool build. I'm thinking of making a later model of Massey Ferguson- circa 1969-72, for my dad. He used to sell them in East Africa at around that time :)
Yes the 2 brake pedals are for independent wheel brakes what you called a throttle is the control lever for the hydraulics at the back off the tractor I prefer to paint everything on the sprue so much easier just touch up once the modle is assembled. Looks like a nice kit I grew up with the Fergy Te a 20 tractor in New Zealand
The TE designation stands for "Tractor England-20". Built in England sold mainly in Europe. I don't know what the FF designation stands for. Most of the Fergusons in the US are TO models. TO stands for "Tractor Overseas". Built in the US and sold mainly in the US and Canada.
Incredible job!! Some of the stills at the end if shown to someone who didn't know, you would swear it was a photo of a real tractor. Excellent job, keep up the good work :)
So glad you made this kit for 2 reasons, 1, i have this kit myself, 2, a grey fergie was the first tractor i ever drove, my only problem will be i want to make an implement or trailer to go on the back so will have to scratch build something myself, i just hope my finished kit looks as good as yours 🙂
My dad has one of these that he rebuilt during Covid lockdown. great looking kit and model. My dad's has a few flaking rust spots on the rear mud guards, and the rear axle has some more weathering - but otherwise, pretty similar.
Henry Ford designed this tractor and it ran with a Ford badge ..I have a 1952 and it's very similar to this Ferguson . The attachment in the rear actually stays on the tractor and raises and lowers whatever you have on the back . This was The Ferguson invention that landed Ford and Ferguson in court because Ferguson claimed Ford stole his design. What finally came out of it Ferguson broke away from Ford and started building an almost identical tractor overseas with Ferguson badging .
The three-point linkage is part of the tractor that is why the te20 as it is known in the UK is such a famous little tractor. I have just bought an original tvo fuelled te20 fergie. If you send me your email address I will send you photographs of the real tractor, the red and grey built under licence in France but if you ever come to the UK you will see Te20 summer show tractors and some are still working for a living
Exactly! The long flat bar with all the holes in it is easily removable on a real tractor, and has to be to hook up different implements that don’t pin to the “drawbar”, but the three arms stay attached at all times. Great little build!
You built a nice looking model. Hate to say it but you're obviously not a tractor guy haha.... your little attachment is actually the three point hitch which always stays on the tractor. The flat bar with the holes in it is what would be removable. The three point hitch was Ferguson's design - where Ford got it from for the similar looking ford tractors. When the 3 point arms are raised the whole implement is raised, the implement would go in place of the flat bar (actually called a 3 point drawbar). That's alright though I'm sure I'd make similar mistakes if I were doing boats or military stuff. It was a great review of a very nice little kit. I was amazed how correct, and how many of the details there were. There is hardly any tractor kits in 1/25 scale, I'd seen this online, but now I would get one seeing what it is. Thanks for sharing

Reminds me of the 9N Ford i owned, you can't brake both wheels and clutch at the same time. FYI rear tires should be flattened with sidewall bulge so the lugs sit flat for better traction.
I enjoy all of your videos, thanks for your time and effort. You may have been asked this a zillion times before, but I fear that I have to ask you again please, do you ever wash off from your kits, the oil from the moulding process?
Have two of these that are still in light paddock use, 70 years after being made. It's a cliche but I have to say it anyhow: they don't often build things like these vehicles anymore.
The bar at the back has holes in it because it is a model of a real bar that would be used for towing trailers or other things. The real one has the same holes
Very nice work.. But i have never seen this colour combo. In sweden they was grey . This red ? can it some special for some country?? And many painted the hood and fenders red in sweden to make them look more like MF 35.

Almost all of the farms back in the day I grew up had one tractor that size . Great for raking hay or pulling hay wagons or good for a box blade.
