      23 -nar Gravity Compare the force holding a 10.0 kg rock Earth and on the Moon. The gravitational field on the Moon is 1.6 N / kg
      24 -Motion of an Elevator You are riding in an elevator holding a spring scale with a 1 kg mass suspended from it. You look at the scale and see that it reads 9.3 N. What, if anything, can you conclude about the elevator's motion at that time?

      @@ghala3964 23. Mass of the rock m=10kg. Mass going to be same on earth or on moon.
      So the Force experienced by the 10kg rock on moon = m*g(moon’s) = 10kg* 1.6N/Kg = 16N
      24. Let us say g=9.8 on the earth.
      If the lift is stationary the scale should show the reading, Force= m*g = 9.8*1= 9.8N
      But the scale showing less reading which is 9.3N. That means Lift is accelerating downwards.
      If lift accelerating upwards, scale will show the reading bigger than 9.8
      If lift is free falling, scale will show zero reading.
      YOU CAN USE FOLLOWING FORMULA TO FIND SCALE READING
      Scale reading = Mass (9.8+a)
      For example, mass=1kg, lift is accelerating downwards with 2m/sec^2
      That means, a=-2
      Therefore, Scale reading= 1 (9.8 -2)= 7.8 N
      If lift moving with constant velocity or not moving then a=0
      Scale reading= m(9.8+a) but here a=0 there force the scale reading=1(9.8)=9.8N which is actual weight of the object of 1kg mass.
      If lift is accelerating upward with 3m/sec^2 then a=3
      Scale reading= m(9.8+a)= 1(9.8+3) =12.8 N
      That means if lift accelerating upward the scale will show bigger number(12.8N) than the actual weight of the object(9.8N)
