Kabir,What you just said about show up and know your lines, was exactly what James Cagney would tell younger actors, know your lines, say them, and look them in the eye.
I’ve actually heard another story about the number 1 actor, Lawrence Tierney, from when he guest starred on a season 1 episode of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ in 1987-88. He and a show regular, Wil Wheaton, who was only 15 years old at the time, bumped into each other between scenes just outside the studio. Tierney asked Wheaton if he played football, a rather innocent question, which Wheaton replied to with a “no”. Tierney says, “Why not?”, then proceeds to question Wheaton’s masculinity and sexuality in a derogatory manner. Staying cool, Wheaton just replies that he’s not strong enough to play football (at 15 Wheaton is rather tall and thin). Tierney’s reply is, “maybe you wouldn’t be so weak if you played football.”
The guy also did an episode of Seinfeld, playing Elaine Benes' gruff, judgemental, and very difficult father. Turned out Tierney really was just like the character he played, only much, much worse, and everybody, cast and crew, found him to be intimidating, even downright scary. The original plan was to have Elaine's dad be a recurring character who'd pop up once or twice per season, but it was decided after his one and only appearance that that would be it.
I think actors should learn how to shut off the method acting when they're scenes are done I know it's great on screen but I feel bad for the casts and crew. Also some actors need to be treated like everyday people so they can get off their high horse
Hi Kabir, even when I was homeless I managed to bathe 3 or 4 times a week! Imagine how it was in the old days, before running water. I remember reading about a time in the Middle Ages when they just bathed twice a year! Imagine!
I've heard horror stories about how Toby McGuire insisted on how his fellow cast members had to behave around him while making Spiderman III. For example, not letting people look him in the face. As well as refusing to answer people who called him by his own name. I can't remember what he insisted on being called off the top of my head. But I know that it was something ridiculous.
That's what he claims, anyway. There are those who'd swear that, off-camera, going up against genuinely trained opponents who are genuinely opposing him, he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
The Island of Dr Moreau is a book by HG Wells. 2 movies. 1977 and 1996 with Brando. The story itself is strange and 1977 version is at least understandable. 1996 is a big mess, Brando was ridiculous as was Kilmer
One of the first actors to use method acting was Marlon Brando, back to the days of Street Car Named Desire.I think these actors might mean it differently.
5:57 I was a Tanker, and idk how much time they had to spend in the Tank together on the daily... but any extended period of time takes a toll. The lack of privacy and space can be really hard to deal with. Your essentially locked in a closet with 3 other guys for hours at a time and only get to poke your head out for a breath of fresh air every few hours sometimes. The farthest away you can get from your crew is the other end of the tank. Tank living ain't easy, I loved it, but it's definitely not something many people are built for. But... like I said, due to being locked in a closet, I can totally understand why they were upset with Shia for not showering lol 😅
The original Island of Dr. Moreau was good, but filmed in the '70s. The remake had a huge budget and was expected to make bank. Unfortunately, because of the 2 lead eccentrics, Brando and Kilmer, it was huge flop. The remake was truly horrible.
The 70s version wasn't the original. There was a version made in the 1930s. And, in fact, a silent German version was made back in the 1920s, without getting permission from the original author H.G. Wells, who was unaware of its existence.
I have lived in a homeless shelter twice before. I would have roomates in a room who hadn't bathed in over a year. And . staff couldn't make them bathe either. Mix that with smell of urine and alcohol on them. And imagine smelling that daily for months. And eating with them in a "dining room" that was about 700 square feet.
Snipes is not that good an actor to be so difficult. Bale is a great actor and his difficulty is attributed to his work. Steven Seagal believes his own hype.
The "method acting" actors who are so rude and entitled, pretending that what they are doing is "art" and being excessively obnoxious whole doing so is enough for me to not watch them. My few dollars won't make any difference to them, but it will to me and I won't contribute to their success.
Wait.. If Christian Bale is a method actor and the cast didn't like him.. Wouldn't the cast be reacting to the character Bale is portraying and not Bale as a person? Because many artists that prefer method acting said it can involve staying in character when the camera is not rolling. Meaning.. they stay in character on set, in public, and develop and practice their character's traits at home, whether its their wardrobe, mannerisms, or an accent. Bale said he used Tom Cruise as the main basis of his character in American Psycho, so the cast was actually reacting to working with Tom Cruise. 😅
A lot of times it’s their massive egos that make them obnoxious. Way back when, actors were looked down upon. Being thought of like carnival workers, having no steady income. Then we started over paying them to a ridiculous degree. That’s where the uppity, “I’m the world’s gift” started. I won’t watch Tom Cruise because of his disgusting egomaniacal behavior (and the Christian Science weirdness).
I have no problem with celebrities getting paid in proportion to the amount of revenue they generate. If Fill In The Blank stars in a movie that earns a billion dollars at the box office, then Fill In The Blank's paycheck ought to reflect that. He or she is the one who puts butts in seats, not Random Studio Executive. Of course, a big paycheck may lead to arrogant, obnoxious behavior, but who says Random Studio Executive isn't also being obnoxious? The press just doesn't bother to report on Random Studio Executive until he causes a big scandal, a la Harvey Weinstein.
I've always had more respect for actors who know how to turn it off when the director says cut. That's talent
It is not just a movie, it is the remerence of legends.
Heath ledger got into character with method acting and is a legend to this day

Thank God something that isn’t political! 👏🏼🎉
99% of his content isn't political, what are you talking about?
There are crazy people in every profession.

Lebouf, Leto, and Segal I'm not surprised by in the slightest. Christian Bale I am, though, by a lot!!
Yes method acting is quite different, than what I was talking about.

Some people are just nuts…
Nuts people are better than normals

And they pay these people millions of dollars .
Woah, I never knew that was Milla in Dazed. That's funny.
The Island of Dr Moreau was like watching a heaping garbage fire being thrown onto a train wreck. And yet, it is interestingly terrible.
The island of Dr Moreau is… interesting
Segal didn't do Kung fu. His martial arts style is called Aikido.
That's what he claims, anyway. There are those who'd swear that, off-camera, going up against genuinely trained opponents who are genuinely opposing him, he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
Steven Seagal is an AH from everything I hear
Never heard anything positive about him, except what comes from his own mouth.
Steven Seagal is the type of man who farts and then bends over backwards to smell it.

Pryor was full of surprises. Many don't know that one of his lovers was Marlon Brando.

Your eye roll is exactly how I was feeling!
Surprised That Richard Pryor Was Rude on The Set For a Comedian For His Comedy Movie “Blue Collar”
Brando was definitely hard to work with.
Let’s go, Brandon.
Agreed and I Don’t Know Why He Was Difficult To Work With
On The Island of Doctor Moreau, he and Val Kilmer each put a lot of effort into trying to out-obnoxious each other, and everybody hated them both.
@@user-mg5mv2tn8q Val Kilmer Has The Same Reputation To Work With

Damn, I never knew that about Reservoir Dogs. I'll never watch it the same again.

Dr. Moreau rules
Ego!!!

Two month marriage ? Not bad for Hollywood. The marriage of Britney Spears and Jason Alexander lasted all of 55 HOURS.
The marriage last a couple of months because Milla was only 16 and her mother did not like him.
Tarantino doesn't have the right to call anyone difficult because he is known to be impossible to be around on the set and real life.
I've heard he's improved since he stopped drinking. Or I may be wrong.
Maybe Snipes became more humble after his stint in prison.
Actors have such egos. Thanks.
JEFF was HERE 🌎
Nobody cares
@MsChiefsfan-w4k some people do.. you are never one of them 😂
