Really interesting video, but the music is too loud and makes it difficult to hear the narator.

Offset printing is based on water and oil don’t mix. This is what I was told during my RRD orientation in 1981 as a 19 year old which led to a 27 year career.

All is shown as it is automaticly. In erliear times is was all handwork. micromontage, lithografie, its was all done by hand. I was part of that. I dislike it when history is ignored. Thumb DOWN!

Ive was in the business since the late 1950s in that my family had a decent sized shop. We had web at one time as well as a bunch of sheet-fed. I left that in the late 1970s and have ran everything from duplicators to web 40". I enjoyed it all but getting fit and color was the apex of being a pressman. Now?

Hey what kind of printing did you do and any idea how novels work? The machines and kind of paper used etc. I’m completely new to this, been working as a book cover and layout designer and hope to run a print shop or even a publication at some point in my future. I appreciate any help.

Whats the best way to track each job from plate making to finishing processes to delivery? At the moment using excel spreadsheets but it's not easy to keep it up to date and lots of jobs getting missed. Separate spreadsheets for each department seems like it would be a lot of effort, open to any suggestions!

ok this is that new shit that makes the job easy, we just got a Heidelburg CD 102 with a color master 2009 and it, just can't keep up with me yet! then again i prefer old school reading plates by eye on the consol. New school old School tomato tamato, in the end im no button pusher.

It's really COMICAL... You don't need a skilled pressman anymore! I've seen all phases from the start of the 4 color press. Our shop had the first experimental GTO. We were to find the kinks and transfer marking problems. We also had the first MO and helped Heidelberg again with this task. Printing has come along way now digital is king. I loathe the quality from those crappy copy so called machines ..machines. peace

@@jimbrown4456 Just thinking the same. I run a Labelfire in Flexo and that thing's a software nightmare along with plenty of physical components to manhandle

I work on an XL105 Speed master Heidelbergs are great machines when new but a few years down the line when things wrong like Side Lays that wont cooperate or double sheeting then it becomes a nightmare

    • @fpvbarry6851

feeder problems happen no question but all that is can be avoided if the press is new using a double sheet sensor that self adj's then it might be worn out and turn it off on the consol. now if it is a twist manual double sheet Decator you need to tap the pin in on the side of it, simply put. now let's get to the air, sometimes if you might just need to get into the air cabinet and ensure one of the blower horses didn't pop on you. it happens. Iv operated a Heidelburg 2001 CD 102 / 97 SM 102 / 2009 CD102 colormaster.
