      I think a lot of the time the announcements are a bit of a long shot and meant to get some traction going for further funding and research. Sometimes they're a complete scam job and that's why they vanish as soon as a little money rolls in, but I think most times they're just starting out and not sure if their preliminary work is even going to be possible let alone practical. Something might come up that makes the whole thing collapse like a house of cards, or all kinds of hurdles get in the way and render it an "Oh well we tried this way and it didn't pan out." Sometimes like in my own mad science pursuits, that just means it didn't work out NOW, but as with a lot of my stuff it just meant it needed four more damned years before the "big" payoff finally arrived. I can't speak for scientific advancement in a lab run by 30 people, but I am very familiar with blowing 20 years on a maybe-dream before it really turns into a reality that impresses me. For me, it's been a very long ladder climb getting to where I am now, each step building a new foundation to keep climbing on as my many projects slowly evolve or get shelved, which spawns new projects based on what I've learned along the way. It's... tedious. 🤣

      My son had his own tissue regenerated for knee surgery about 10 years ago. They took a sample and grew it in a petri dish over a few months, then covered it with his own tissue (skeletal sack material) and implanted the finished product. The biggest problem with this method is no weight bearing for at least 6 weeks, along with constant movement of the knee via a machine that keeps it in motion, so it doesn't lock up while you sleep. He will eventually need a knee replacement, but this was a better option for an active person in their 30s.

      For what it's worth in case you end up needing hip replacement surgery: I got a left THR done 10 years ago at age 40 (no injury, just abnormally high wear and tear/arthritis at an abnormally young age).
      It was life changing. No more pain, I could sleep through the night again without hurting, and I'm still as active as I want to be.
      The biggest change that's limiting is I'm in the joint preservation business for the rest of my life: any amount of running and jumping on a hard surface is naturally going to shorten the lifespan of the replacement.
      But I do other things... I have passed 2 belt tests in Krav Maga (Israeli martial art) which is a pretty intense activity, and I ride my bike, including light trail riding...All with a total hip replacement. So my experience has been great. Best of luck to you!

    This is important news for those who have suffered the devastating side effects of fluoroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro, Levaquin, Avalox and more). These effects ravage the joints, cartilage, collagen and connective tissues systemically. Treatments are few. This article gives me hope.

    • @musiclover81813
      @musiclover81813 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow you dont have a clue. Those antibiotics are largely benefical which is why they got FDA approval. Cipro saved a lot of people from a host of diseases and Levaquin has saved many more. Misuse of those antibiotics is only from those who are like those who cant read a study result. You should not rely on MDs as they arent scientists, you as a patient have a responsibility to know what ails you and how to fix it. If you dont you will be at the mercy of those in medicine. This is an american phenomenon, in Italy which has a longer tradition of medicine those there say you dont give up your rights when you are a patient you have to know how to assert them ..You are relying on clueless journalists to give you scientific information, that shows at what level you are at and so because you have no STEM background you are at the mercy of those who have some college level science courses but you need more than degrees to do anything. You have to have an imagination to be a real scientist and ask the right questions. IF you want to know what is going on in science READ the Journals SCIENCE Or Nature or just listen to a Nature Podcast its free!!! I just posted about cartilage regeneration which has already had human trials, READ MY post which was to put those at WGN on notice they dont know what they are doing. They didnt do their homework. They didnt even have the sense to query google properly and read the scientific literature!

    There is also another approach being researched in a medical university (in California???). I saw the story about a year or so ago. In it, they described a procedure to rasp/scrape the bone area to cause the body’s healing process. At a particular point (4-6 weeks) into the healing process, the patient is given medication that inhibits the formation of scar tissue and results in producing new cartilage. But as we all know, whatever procedure(s) get approved, only the rich will benefit for a long time. No insurance company will cover an “experimental” elective procedure. That will takes years if not decades.

The VA orthopedic surgeon went in orthoscopically (under anesthesia) and "pricked" the bones to make them bleed. Absolutely no weight-bearing for 10 weeks on that leg. Awesome. Big fan of regenerative medicine. This almost sounds like a combination of BPC - 157 or TB -500 as a peptide source and Stem Cells. Whatever the source is , let’s hope that it’s reasonably priced for those of us who really could benefit from it. health coverage generally won’t cover something like that for a while. They will say experimental…

    David Goggins had cartilage replacement to get back to running in lieu of joint replacement but he had to deal with a lot of therapy and PAIN before he was back up.

    I'm 19 and sprained my ankle during a colour run last year in high school. I still feel discomfort in my ankle to this day. I suspect has something to do with my ligament or cartilage. I have been hesitant about going to a physio, because I know that it might lead to my getting surgery, which is going to cost an arm and a leg to pay for. These types of researches give the majority of the population hope for a longer and pain-free life.

    Where can I sign up? I’ve been living without cartilage in my wrist for over 20 years, since my early 40’s. It’s been a challenge with the pain since you use your hands all the time on a daily basis.
