My apologies for the incorrect date on the video, which should, of course, by 1996, as this performance of Tosca at Lincoln Center marked Leonie Rysanek’s 20th Anniversary with the company. A good recording in support of Rysanek and Domingo, who is pretty stunning. You may be glad to hear that I’m all Tosca’d out for the moment but I’m happy to have turned the spotlight on a few of Leonie’s worthy partners, Messrs Konya, Corelli, Tucker and Domingo, and to be ending this phase on a high.
I love all these Rysanek Toscas because she never gives the same performance - there's always something different.

Thanks so much for all the Tosca! I was there at this one, and it was an infamous not good night for the magnificent Leonie. But so good to have all of them!

How could this 1979 performance mark the 20th anniversary of Rysanek's anniversary at Lincoln Center if it opened 1966 ? Perhaps you mean her 20th anniversary as a Metropolitan Opera roster member when she debuted in 1959 when the Met Opera House was at 39th Street & Broadway (??)
Thank you for taking the time point out a careless error on my part. Unfortunately, the NYT republished their review word for word in 1979 and I took this as the performance date. Obviously I should have realised that this couldn't be correct and have made the necessary change to the header notes. J
Unfortunately the voice is not on good shape ,interesting though. Now we need to find a Aida from the Met 59/60 with Bergonzi and Warren which got rave reviews .
