The comment section isn't long enough to discuss my love of King, but I'll do my best:
The Mist - I liked better as a book, though I know the movie is beloved.
Night Shift is indeed a collection of short stories - his first, in fact. Pretty sure all have been adapted in one way or another - the most famous probably being Children of the Corn.
Dreamcatcher is... weird. But King's take on aliens usually is (see also, The Tommyknockers).
IT will always have a special place in my heart because it's the first King book I ever read and gave me my lifelong fear of clowns.
The Dark Tower series is probably his most divisive - it's more fantasy than horror, and while I really enjoyed the first four books, there was a sharp decline in the last few - mainly because King himself famously said he'd most likely not live to finish the series, so I think he was pressured into coming up with an ending that he wasn't really pleased with.
The Shining is a classic, of course (love the bookend, btw 😉). I liked Doctor Sleep a lot, as well. It delves much deeper into the concept of "the shine" and how desperate some people are to get it. A more recent King book called The Institute is another great example of this.
Gerald's Game is a great exploration of psychological horror, though, like you, I still think Misery did that the best.
Some of my all time favorites you should check out sometime are: The Talisman (currently being produced by the Duffer Bros. from Stranger Things), The Stand, The Dark Half, 11/22/63 (the Hulu miniseries was great), and The Outsider (another great adaptation which is on HBO).
That concludes my Stephen King TEDtalk. Please tip your waitress and drive safe.
(Thanks Chuck, this was a fun one!)

I love the dark tower series so much. The gunslinger is a bit of a challenge and, as another commenter mentioned, the last few were hit or miss but he ended it well.
Nice collection! And great sounds. Books make excellent ASMR.

B o o k s o u n d s! I love this! I do like audio books when I'm doing busy work. I do not even have a kindle or whatever. I need a Real Book with its textures, sounds and smells. :) I read "IT". It took me half a winter when I was a young teen and only had school and no job. Would probly take me half a year, now haha. I read Pet Sematary when I was ten or eleven. I read Carrie, and the book of short stories that Graveyard Shift was in.. I read the Tommyknockers and Christine. I haven't read a Stephen King book in YEARS but I always enjoyed his writing style and a good fantastical scare. But I live in Maine, as I've said before, and it's genuinely spooky season here all year round, Stephen King isn't making that up LOL I wrote a 1700 page book. Yes, 1700. If I ever got it published, it would be 3 books for sure but I'm trying to pare it down. If I ever got it published, it would probably be an e-book anyway haha and I wouldn't be able to read it because, No. :) Also-- Hooray-- Good on Ya--- for 2000 subscribers!!

I do NOT like horror, at all, I'm a very anxious person so i can't play horror games or watch horror movies but I'm interested in books that are horror, since it's in a book.. I'll think about it. This was a very lovely video!!
Edit: Physical books are MY FAVORITE. They're better imo

in all my uncontrollable autism, I found myself doing a goofy dance to the tapping LOL :)
Yeah, I agree I don't like kindles, only 70-90s paperbacks especially the embossed cover ones.
idk why again maybe the obsessiveness of autism hahaha.
also, the only thing more spine-tingling than Stephen King is your asmr voice, dude!

I'm a lot like u in that I love Stephen King movie adaptations of his books more than ii actually like reading his books. I'm a huge reader, his stuff is hard for me to get through. I attempted to read It twice but didn't get far...Cujo, Christine, Pet Cemetery, Misery, and Carrie are among my favorite horror movies. I also recently watched the remake of The Stand...so much better than the original. Stephen King is an effin genius...he won the Mark Twain Litarary Award and some people (elitist snobs) didn't think that because his expertise is horror he didn't deserve. are you effin kidding me...his body of work is astounding. anyway, my adhd brain...didn't mean to go off. Great video, as always...rub the dogs bellies for me. Thanx again

Cujo is so goood! I need to watch that again I haven’t in forever. Pet Semetary (original) is among my favorites to. Thanks as always Eric!

@@chuckasmr7725 so get into this..King actually just wrote a "sequel" to Cujo that centers on a rattlesnake. I tend to dislike sequels they are usually pretty derivative but I'm keen to giving this one a shot because King says he hates sequels to and that this is a sequel in spirit. I have no effin clue what that means but I'm down to find out...

Love pet semetary! I listened to the book last year. I like the original film more than the remake. I read somewhere King didn’t want to release it originally because it was so dark. Thanks for the comment!

@@chuckasmr7725 I watched the original Pet Sematary so many times when I was kid I had it memorized. It was definitely too dark but that made it unforgettable. I feel the same way about the second movie. It felt unnecessary. Anticipatory ASMR is Really Good, anticipatory gore is anticlimactic. Like, we've already seen this... the second movie was forgettable.
