We’ve gotten a whooooole lot of Spider-Man movies over the past two decades. From Tobey Maguire to Andrew Garfield to Tom Holland, there have been a ton of incarnations of the Marvel web-slinger. So apparently Sony took it upon themselves to cram as many NEW incarnations of the character into a single movie as humanly possible. The Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse brought us Miles Morales, an older chubby Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker and Spider-Man Noir. The movie is great, but it does raise a few questions… Like what was Gwen doing for a full week? Why didn’t Kingpin ever finish Miles off when he had the chance? How does that machine even work, anyway?

Joseph Breen No, not at all. Not even close. You’re mistaking what we expect to have happen in every story with the fact that in well written stories those moments are logically reached and earned by the narrative. Most really good movies do the latter. Comic book movies rarely do and typically get a pass on it.
Now I want a villain with meta-awareness as a protagonist.

The reason peni cried when her robot got destroyed was because her dad (who is now dead) had built it for her. And it was one of the only things that she had that was given to her from her dad.
Did they explain that in the movie at all?

Yyyep... That's what's up... I'm not a hardcore comics fan, I'm into manga manhua and manhwa, but for some reason not comics, tho I do LOVE a good animation. So I do understand hardcore fans feelings when they nitpick (I do that myself all the time) but this movie hit all the right spots for me and is easily one of my (scratch that) IT IS my best comic movie ever (because it's very entertaining), so I'm extremely forgiving for it's flaws. BUT WAY TO RUIN THAT FOR ME with this Jefferson crap (well... slightly), now I have to think about it everytime I see the movie, AND I SEE IT A LOT!!!

@@TheKittyDoggo They actually are attaching themselves to the comic's individual panels. Spider-Man's Spider-Sense (Literally Shown In The Movie) is effectively the calm sane version of Deadpools meta-self-awareness. Which is one reason why Deadpool is so fond of Spider-Man, not only are they kind of a known meta-'plutonic'-couple it's the fact that Spider-Man and Deadpool have a similar ability of awareness but Spider-Man's is much more restrained and under control of itself. Deadpool's is happening so fast and so often it is one of the critical reasons he is pretty much insane, he can't control it just like he can't control the cancerous cells that keep repairing, healing, and tearing his body apart. (On top of the fact Thanos literally banished him from death's realm of control). But yeah, the more you know.

@Unstoppable Plays! if I remember correctly, she has a psychic link with the Spider and her dad made the robot that houses the spider.
Either way, I'm pretty sure the robot was the only thing she had left of her father, so that's why it was sad that it was destroyed.

If i remember correctly though, it wasnt absolutely destroyed. Pretty sure it could have been fixed. Definitely still a sad moment, but not really a tear jerker.

I just saw this movie again and i cried more then the past year together. This is such an amazing movie its crazy...
In Spain and some Spanish speaking countries, it's the mother's name that comes last, not the father's.
Miles Morales has spanish heritage so, naturally, he uses his mother's name last.

I mean his name would be Miles Davis Morales with Morales as his second last name (apellido). But anytime you shorten someone's name to just one apellido, it's always the first one. He'd still be Miles Davis.
The in-universe answer is that the father doesn't want Miles to be tied to his criminal past so Miles took his mother's last name.

4:19 If you’re wondering why it’s sad Penny mentions that the robot suit was built by her father and later she mentions her father died so the suit is her biggest connection to her dead father
4:27 Penny mentioned that the suit is designed by her late father. Likewise, in the comics the suit takes on a few characteristics of her late father. She’s crying because the robot suit is her last piece of her father. Even though she redesigns and brings back the robot, the original robot was designed by her father; that’s something she can never get back.

That's great and all...but for the regular movie watcher that was a detailed missed...I knew that it was designed by her father, but we had no way of knowing this was the ONLY thing she had left....that was my biggest issue with the movie, we didn't spend enough time with the characters, Gwen, Miles and Peter B Parker we're the only three that we spent time with...I dunno, I would've appreciated an extra 20mins to the movie just for the characters to do more

Actually, in Mexico and many other Latin countries, people inherit both the father's AND mother's last name, putting the Father's first and mother's last (firstname-paternal-maternal), meaning Miles Davis Morales makes sense, as his mom is a Latina, and is not some "comic book naming scheme" joke.

I'm not gonna lie when i first saw the trailers for this movie i thought "well thats cute might be a decent time killer" then BOOM it honestly becomes in my opinion one of the best spiderman movies ever 10/10 would recommend!!!
Yes me too! I pushed it to the end of my list! Only to then watch it and was completely blown away! By far the best and most clever out of all the Spider-Man movies!
Honestly expected it to be a one time thing, maybe sit back and relax, just have fun watching it. I didn't even like Spider-Man that much, so why not? It couldn't hurt, right?
Several years later I'm creating my own 2D animations because of a love for the animation genre.
I honestly don't understand the appeal for spiderman. Is it narcissism? That people somehow identify themselves as him? He's the most boring and ridiculous character to ever pollute the zeitgeist. The animation was good but yet it pales in comparison to shows like Primal or Arcane.
