- My latest trip to Europe I visited many countries including Italy, Portugal and others. One thing changed me for life! And it was this amazing sauce called Piri Piri which I had in Portugal, they usually use this sauce on chicken but I wanted to know if it goes well with steaks!

OMFG Guga has found Portugal. Game over.
Best steak I ever had was in the algarve.. That was about 30years ago.. Never had anything like it since.. I need to go back.. Albufeira 👌🏻👍🏻
@@johnheckles8239 you should go to Brazil or Argentina for the best steaks. Or Portugal, it's full of Brazilians there already.

Peri peri is African.
Piri piri is Portuguese.
Piree piree is bad spelling
... But it's the same pepper 😂
Peeree peeree is the next Rihanna single
It was originally "discovered" by the Portuguese colonialists in East Africa (Mainly Mozambique and Angola). The sauce that is. The chili itself on the other hand, called The African Bird's Eye chili, have been used long before in African foods. However the sauce was popularized and made by mostly the Portuguese. A combination of cultures coming together. Call it Piri Piri. Call it Peri Peri or even Malaika. I'm sure each with its own touch of culture.
it's pili pili in africa
Fico feliz que tenham gostado de uma pequena amostra do meu país 😁 VAI GUGA!!❤

Well I'm glad for you that you have now.
Guga, come to Central and Eastern Europe. I recommend Poland, the Czechia, Hungary, and the Balkan region. You would be surprised and find new inspiration

Guga's chicken is always fire and these dudes are spoiled enough to boob about it
IKR? "Chicken has no flavor" This guy. Chicken has a very distinct chickeny flavor. If it didn't, nobody would say "Tastes like chicken" about a thousand other things.

What?? Americans dont have piri piri?
My mind is also blown.
we have it, but like guga said, its usually store bought and not quite the same thing
Because majority have never travelled outside the us😂😂
We have a restaurant called nandos and a few other chains down here in illinois that serve it with chicken , good stuff but expensive in comparison to other restaurants.

@@ernestogastelum9123 Well... Bleached chicken is an American thing... And yes, American chicken, the MEAT lacks taste. Americans have to add tons of seasoning on chicken. There is a real question to why it tastes that way. American chicken is overgrown and lacks taste.

Dry sage steak in guaraná!
YES!!!
That's NOT chorizo...
Guga just had a cheeky Nando’s boys
"I love saying piri piri" If they make a new Buck Rogers I say Guga should voice Twiki.
Day 7 of asking dry age steak in hoisin sauce
yeah keep goin
Remoulade sauce would be sooo gooodd
you mean wet aging ? or dry aging a steak covered in hoisin sauce ? if you try to do both at once you will end with neither so make a better choice of words :)

"This sauce is a little bit of work."
Hearing that from Guga, Mr. "Making this is super simple", is terrifying.
I think that Silesian dumplings and beef roulade as a side or even main course would be an interesting topic. Especially since many viewers are of Polish origin.
Wait, piri piri sauce isn't a staple in Brazil? I thought, considering their historical link, it would be devoured in Brazil.
I did not know piri piri sauce is not in America it is found nearly everywhere in Europe

0:07 Portugal eh caralho, a minha casa. Let's go.
Is peri peri actually not a known thing in America? It’s extremely common here (England) and it’s absolutely amazing, and assume it’s even better in other European countries considering how terrible Britain is with food usually
Guga is Only 1 "American", just because he's Personally late to the game, doesn't mean alL of us Americans don't know what it is! 😉There's even restaurants that serve it on their chicken (we even have a few Nando's) but like most things in life some people will always be ahead of discovering things over other ones.
@@nikkirockznikkirockz8551 makes sense, was genuinely just wondering if it’s a really unknown thing in America or not considering how common it is in Europe, Nando’s, one of probably the most widespread chicken places here is pretty much entirely based around peri peri

I don't mind trying spicy things but I do not make a meal out of it. Certainly wouldn't ruin a good steak with it.
Peri Peri sauce? I heard of that in a few trips in Nando's
The kids: "WHY CHICKEN?"
The kids after tasting it: "That's great"
EVERY SINGLE TIME...
Guga, next time serve them boiled unseasoned breast so they can really complain... 😈
Those little rubber rings used for cooking eggs, are the same as are used at McDonald's and other fast food places. You just crack and drop the egg into the ring, and it keeps the eggs separate and properly cooked. When ready, you take off the ring, then spatula off the egg into the egg McMuffin or other such meals. (Been there, done that !)
Dry Age Steaks in Sonny(thatdudecancook)'s Rosemary Salt. If you know, you know. NOW LET'S GO!
Guga, where do you order your meat from generally? My wife is Brazilian and we like to cook ourselves Brazilian style BBQ at home. Picanha and other popular Brazilian cuts are easy to find because they have gained popularity in the states recently. It’s a bit harder to find things like coração de frango (chicken heart) which is my wife’s favorite, for example. Do you know of any meat delivery services with a more broad selection of meats that are not typical of your average US BBQ?
If chicken has no flavour why dose everything taste like chicken?????
Looks delicious! I'm surprised Guga didn't mention this, but Portuguese chouriço is very different from Mexican chorizo. He was definitely using the Portuguese variety.
"oh god damn thats spicy"..... I about fell out laughing my arse off.......
If you like the flavour of piri piri but with less spicyness, what do you recommend to tone it down a bit? Is using less chillis an option or a different type of chilli maybe?
Insane that there's people that lazy that can't take 15 minutes to make and cook the sauce, but they'll complain about the food not tasting as they expected. Lmao.
Piri Piri (Peri Peri - Africanized) is a staple here in South Africa, Nando's sells our Peri Peri Chicken around the world
no you in wrong country for peri peri Mozambique or Angola or the commercialized down nandos
I don't know how to feel about 'them' discovering rubbing meat with spices enhance the flavor......
Oh yeah! I love piri piri sauce! An old colleague lives in Portugal and I regularly visit him, and always get piri piri chicken at least once.
I would LOVE to see Guga go to Romania and try out the food there, but not the tourist spots, the proper places
Happy to see that you liked some of the best things our kitchen has 🙏 but portuguese food is a point of no return Guga 😂🇵🇹 VAMOS CARALHO
The restaurant's name is Pedro dos Frangos, not that crazy translation you tried to make. It's name is Portuguese, keep it like that.
Francesinha missing several things and other are simply incorrect. It's fresh sausage, it's missing Linguiça, and the sauce, you just skipped several steps, namely the broth and how to make it.
Still, a great effort!
@9:53 Somehow I got reminded of the "Gingerbread Man" e.g. Muffin Man" in the cartoon "Shrek" (2001).
I have been mixing spicy heat with flavor. Made my own enjoyable hot sauce. It has the kick, but also the deep flavors to keep you eating.
i just had this sauce last week, my mother made it... here in Balkan, we make it without hot peppers and by using simple sunflower oil instead fancy avocado oil...
My great grandfather used a secret recipe to win a worldwide competition for cooking the best steak in 1948. My great grandfather also owned a green coffee cup that he stole from an old African American man. He saw the old African American man leave church one day and lock the green coffee cup in his Oldsmobile, so when the coast was clear, great grandpa busted the window of the car with a brick and absconded with the cup. When many years later we asked him if he felt badly about having stolen the cup, he just laughed and laughed and laughed. But it wasn't a mischievous laugh, it was maniacal and demonic and utterly frightening. Then he became quiet, but he held the smile on his face for 45 minutes. Just staring forward, silent, but with that unnerving smile still on his face. When our great grandma asked him if he was okay, he finally spoke, and in a deep, devilish voice he said, "Hail Satan" over and over again. He must have said it 40 to 50 times. This was the day before Thanksgiving, 2013. Then he walked out of the front door without saying a word and never returned. He left his wallet, keys, and everything else. He just walked down the street and when we went out after him he was gone. No one could find him. Not even the police. He was 91yo and no one saw him nor heard from him ever again, except for one of our neighbors, who, four years later, saw him one night at 2am in their backyard, swinging on a children's swing set, with that same maniacal smile on his face. They called us and woke us up, but when we ran over to their backyard, great grandpa was gone. No one ever saw him again.
I thought for sure that piri piri would be one of the things Brazilians definitely inherited from Portugal.
Thank you Guga for sharing Portuguese food you are an amazing person
Day 8 of asking to make chattagram style beef kalabhuna
I have had peri-peri several times, and it really is delicious. Nando's and Oporto are common places to have peri-peri chicken over here in Australia, and we can get peri-peri marinade (Nando's markets the stuff to supermarkets) and I believe there would be other brands that do it too. Always wanted to try it out with steaks.
I love Guga's brazilian accent standing out when he says Francesinha
You can sub some of the spicy peppers with roasted red peppers and have the same sauce.
Piri Piri is more for the oil as a sauce, the components just give the oil flavor. You can see in his Europe video, it's just the flavored oil on the chicken.
Day 9 asking Guga and Sous Vide Everything to try the Heath Riles Authentic Pecan Rub on steaks/chicken. =)
Wait wasn't Emilio from Meat Mafia?
People sleep in Portuguese food but that churrasco chicken is my absolute favorite chicken dish of all time

"Pedro do frangos!!!!" One of the fondest memories of my travel in Portugal!
One of my favorite burgers is the portugese chicken burger. Chain restraunts have ruined it, but a good one with delicious chicken and periperi sauce made by a pro is amazing.
Piri piri / peri peri / pili pili is not Portuguese my friend. It was invented in Africa which was earlier a Portuguese territory
No peri peri compound butter under the skin of the chicken? You fell off, Guga.
When I saw Angel and Leo both took another big chuck of chicken and sandwich when Guga talked, I think that tells everything.
that sandwich looks FIRE!! I'm not sure if I'd want to plate it on top of the red sauce since the bottom piece of bread is gonna be soggy AF, maybe just on the side to dip in
That sandwich made me groan just from the visuals, looks incredible oh my god
I hope in Portugal you tried "Bifana no pão", between that and dishes based on cod it was what I liked most to eat in Portugal.
If you want to tase a good sauce, go in france, toulouse, to a restaurant called "l'Entrecote", they have a sauce that is top tier
Angel has helped me to understand why people abandon their children at Walmart. I will never judge again.
