Dr. Aliabadi brings a deeply personal angle to the conversation, having turned to Dr. Giuliano for her second double mastectomy after a previous operation failed to remove all her cancerous breast tissue. Tune in for an inspiring discussion on overcoming breast cancer, the advances in medical science that are making a difference, and the unmatched value of compassionate care. This episode is an essential listen for anyone affected by breast cancer.
Dr. Guiliano on lumpectomies "the survival rate is the same as a bilateral mastectomy" . That is something that is often not talked about as it seems very popular among celebrities to have a double mastectomy. In fact, the guest talk about how many women have breast tissue remaining. So, the tragedy of it all is there are many women who had double mastectomies walking around thinking they are safe and they did the best thing, that all the side affects that come with it were worth it. Everything has consequences. The side effects of each decision is not discussed. Ideally, you would want to do the best surgery that would keep you safe and have the least side effects.
With this podcast we hope to spread awareness so every woman can be aware of their lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and take the appropriate measures. Find out more at shemdpodcast.com 🤍
There are no good choices for breast cancer. You can do a double mastectomy and hope all goes well. Many have two or three surgeries following it sometimes as reconstruction does not go well. You may still be at risk if you have breast tissue remaining. Or you can do a lumpectomy and have radiation and hormone therapy. That is not easy either. Either way, there are no good choices for breast cancer. Unfortunately.
It’s a horrible disease! This is why we’re trying to drive early awareness and prevention with our risk calculator at shemdpodcast.com 🤍
