I was adopted from Seoul as well and will always consider myself Korean, I do know small bits about my birth parents heritage one of them had been pretty much full Korean while the other was half Chinese half Korean. This is a really cool concept for an asmr. I know so far I am part Korean, Chinese, and Mongolian so far.

You have to consider that these DNA tests aren't just your parents, it's your lineage. So the people who make up your lineage are from those regions. Mixing happens generation after generation, your parents can very well had been born in Korea and their parents too.
Your results don't surprise me at all. You literally look like a perfect mix of all those places! I can see the Japanese and Mongolian the most. With some layers of Chinese/Vietnamese and a sprinkle of Nepali.

31:31 Could you make a video explaining how you feel on adoption. My father is adopted and he feels a certain amount of “why did you give me away” towards his parents, and he only wanted to meet his biological parents because they are a part of him he never knew. But you want to say “thank you” to them and I’m confused as to why you would want to say thank you.
Well look at him now, it could hardly be much better. Far better result than to keep him when they don't want/can't afford him. Better for everyone and he wants to say thank you for making right decision even though it must have been very difficult for them.
Due to his results saying he is from china or japan, his family most likely didn’t have the money to keep him or just didn’t want to live in debt, but to say it was very difficult for his parents to leave him will always be unknown. If they really wanted to keep him they would have taken loans or taken up another job. It’s most likely that his parents just didn’t want to go through all the hassle and just gave him away and didn’t think much of it...
Matty, sharing something like this with the world is so personal and I really appreciate how willing you are to connect with your fans through things like this! Even though adoption can emotionally affect someone forever, don’t think of it as a bad thing. Either way, you turned out to be an amazing, personable guy who has a special talent for ASMR. Hey matty, I can imagine how shocking it was to discover something different from what you thought your entire life but still, as a lawyer, I can tell you that if you were born in South Korea you’re Korean. All your heritage is from very near Korea so this probably means that your great grandparents or so were from somewhere else. I really liked the video and had to watch it twice to get to the results part because I fell asleep lol. Good luck on your new quest on finding your birth parents.
Um i think that makes him a Korean citizen but besides that idk. I cant just fly across the world to china have a child with 100% irish person and then have a chinese baby
Win 94, this will vary from country to country but usually if you're born in the country you become its citizen and has every right granted. so if your parents are irish but you are born in china and live in china you'll probably have double citizenship but you are chinese by the jus soli rule. again, every country has its own justice system and law
And as a normal human being I can also say that Matty being born in South Korea makes him Korean. But I can also say that someone born in America is American or that me being born in the UK makes me British. So 🤔🤔🤔.

I used Ancestry. You should be able to download your raw DNA and upload to other sites to search for relatives (if you’re interested)
This was awesome! I was adopted as an infant too, and I did a DNA test to find out my heritage as well. I come from a family that all looks the same (my parents families, my cousins, etc.) but my sister was adopted from India, and I was from Minnesota. I found out that I am 40% Scandinavian, 40% Irish, 12% European south, and 8% Native American! Crazy what you find out. I was told I was German/Russian. As I was adopted from a small colony in southern MN. Crazy how things work! Great video, Matty!

Hey Matty! As a little help if you need it: Korea's history is a lot about Chinese influence, the influx of their people inti the country, and the numerous Japanese invasions. No surprise modern koreans today only have about 50-60% korean in them at most, the rest is Chinese and Japanese. Also worth mentioning that the Mongolian dna can be attributed to the Mongol invasion of China, so your Chinese ancestors were part Mongolian. The Nepali is quite random but it could happen than a Nepali family(your ancestors) moved to south China (maybe on the southern branch of the Silk Road, maybe they were traders) that could explain your skin tone since Nepalese and south Chinese have a darker tan. After years of living south and mixing, a family member probably went north and settled there while mixing in with the northern Chinese who at the time were also mixed in with the Mongolians. The cool thing about this is that it might not be just a thought. Think about it, you have 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 great- great- grandparents, 32 g- g- g- grandparents, 64 g- g- g- g- grandparents and so on and so on, and we haven't even reached the 18th century yet! Imagine the amount of people, you, as one person descend from! With all their own and unique origin and ethnic background! I'm so happy for you Matty! I always wanted to do a DNA test myself.
I just assumed you were mix Filipino like me. Flips have Spanish and Chinese in our blood so a lot of different traits show through. My daughter is half white a quarter Thai and a quarter Filipino and she doesn’t look the slightest bit white. Crazy how genes work.

Pinoys were colonized by Spanish people, but regular pinoys dont look spanish or have spanish blood. Why do pinoys always want so bad to have white blood in their bloodlines, I heard the women even hook up with foreign white men just to get a half-white baby.

THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW - from my experience you can contact the adoption agency that put you with your parents and if the birth parents allowed them they can tell you who your birth parents were .. It s how I found my birth mother.
I can really see the Mongolian in your facial structure, high cheekbones, thick eyebrows. That’s really cool that you found out your heritage!! I found out that I have a lot of Greek and Italian when I thought I was mostly Irish and Swedish
Hey Matty! Just so you know, genetic markers aren't foolproof. What you'll get is markers that populations in China/Japanese/Mongol/Nepali also have. So there's probably a lot of overlap and no guarantee you aren't also Korean. I would strongly suggest taking the results with a grain of salt!
