Watch Rajini's Padayappa. It is my favorite Rajini movie. The noteworthy thing about the film is the iconic villain in it. Ramya Krishnan played as Neelambari, one of the best female villains or villains captured on Indian scene. She also played as Queen Mother Sivagami in Baahubali. In fact, she got that role based on her villain role in Padayappa. Rajinikanth did a stellar job in the movie too. It's just too good to see the Hero and Villain go head to head, while played by two great actors. While a bit diminished, the heroine of the movie was late Soundarya, another legendary actress herself. It is said that she is topped only by Mahanati Savitri herself. Overall, Padayappa (Narasimha in Telugu) is a great and a MUST watch for any movie lovers. If that wasn't possible, try Muthu or Baasha or Arunachalam. All of them are equally good. You get vintage Rajini from them.

I in no way mean to say all his films are great but he certainly has a charisma and if a director knows to get it properly then it would be magic. He is a great character.
I highly recommend a classic like mullum mallarum. But his 90s movies like annamalai, baasha, muthu and padayappa hold a special place in all of our hearts.
