    Really glad to have you back with a 7.3 hope every project on it goes smoothly for you. If you have any suggestions for front end parts please let me know. I have to rebuild the front end of mine.

      To the best of my knowledge, I think PMF is top of of the line for these trucks. Not cheap but heavy duty. Timken for the hubs.

    I've put about 100K miles on that same set of SS MM locking hubs. They're great. I finally did break one of those springs on the inside last year and so I went ahead and replaced the orings and snap rings too. They didn't have that spiral ring about ten years ago when I did this the first time and the lockers would chatter in the hub. I had to get a second snap ring to take up the space in the groove to hold things tight. Looks like that spiral ring they include now does that just fine.

    Great video. I'll be installing the Warn premium hubs on mine soon. This really helps. Glad to see you back in a Ford.

    One more comment! My hubs are very hard to turn, and the lettering showing IN or OUT is worn off, so based on your video, i just ordered a new set of Mile Marker hubs. Thanks!

    I just bought these because of your video! How have they been over the past 6 months? I find it kind of weird they didnt recommend greasing them, one of my factory ones got stuck in the locked position because there was no grease.

      They have worked great. Got put to the test during hunting season.

    Also, did you spray paint your studs, lugnuts and other parts on the front axle? I've just made peace with the fact that mine are always rusty, but that's a great idea both to clean things up and also to prevent further rusting.

      Glad to hear how long they lasted. Not surprising based of the initial quality I see with them. I did paint it all. A good heavy degreasing/pressure washing and some black paint goes a long way. Pretty easy job. Just takes some work getting it as clean as possible.

    I appreciate this video…shed’s light on the cost comparison for warn and mile marker hubs, great to know. Glad your back with 7.3 Powerstroke content, keep it coming.

    I installed those Mile Marker hubs on my truck about a year ago, no issues so far.
    The Ford Tech told me the factory hubs worked off vacuum when left in the " Auto" position, which allows you to engage and disengage the hubs from inside the truck. That's the downside to the Mile Marker hubs, you have to engage them by hand.
    So, when in doubt get out and lock them in before you get in a situation where 4x4 might be needed. If you don't and the truck sinks in mud, you've got to get out, dig down to the hub to lock it in.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup, that is correct. That being said though, it is very common for people with the auto hubs to do this because the vacuum system for the factory hubs is prone to leaks and issues.

    Thank you for this video looks like the profile saves you a strong inch in hub length. This should give you good options with new rims and caps!!!

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! Definitely shallower than the factory hubs

    Can I use this hub if I have auto locking hubs. And again happy to have you back with the 7.3. You have been my inspiration.

    • @CalebCissna
      @CalebCissna ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe you can, vacuum lines may need to be capped off and the hubs will need to be manually locked every time.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can but you’ll essentially be getting rid of your auto hub ability. Which is pretty common to do because people have issues with the auto hubs vacuum system.

      @@LivingOnWheels what is the advantage of changing out the hubs? Also not changing the subject, but it’s time to replace the shocks, I have a 2001 F250 crew cab with 280,000 miles with a 6” lift which I brought new and it time to replace the shocks. I was thinking air bags in the rear. Any suggestions for shocks?
