For you non-experienced drummers who might say: "What's the big deal with a tempo of 40?". Well, a tempo of 40 = 1 metronome click every 1.5 second. YOU go try to lock a groove to THAT! 🔓🥁🔓 😁
Probably haunted by years of "paradidling" on a practice pad! I mean, just look at that muscle bump on Dimsunk's left wrist, you just can't buy that at WalMart... 😁

yes totally agree you re absoloutely right.40bpm makes you understand better the time, quarter notes in hihat and straight 2/4 beat makes it a little harder...I m lucky beacause in my electronic set set there is an accuracy option and in every 2 bars shows the percentage of how accurate you was. you can reach 100% easily and if you do this 15 minutes a day you"ll do magic in timing!
Oh man! I am just a few seconds in the video and the cymbal sounds so good! The flurry of notes you just dropped about 30 seconds in is crazy. It feels erratic, and chaotic, but I can tell you know exactly what you're doing. It's like your falling down a staircase, but controlled. Amazing playing man, really nice to see someone who really loves to play their instrument.

@@dimsunk Are you implying halftime feel is exactly like just playing at half the tempo? Cause I strongly disagree. In any case, really like your playing, that's why I subscribe. But I just find it a weird flex.
I'm playing a beat at 40bpm ... I'm following a click at 40BPM. It's not half time for me playing it .... it's a beat with 2 and 4 on the snare at 40 bpm ... then I add more sixteenth notes and triplets but it's still 40BPM... As a listener it can be whatever you want it to be... you can hear it as 80BPM half time, so the snare would be on the 3.But it's the exact same beat . In this case... if the click was at 80 and I play half time, yes ... it's the same as 40BPM as is. If you don't have a click as a reference it can be many different possibilities ... you can call it 80 BPM half time , the only thing that changes is what you call it. It's the exact same beat. Or you can say it's 40BPM but the click is in 1/8 notes ... It doesn't 't really matter ... the beat will always be the same to the listener ... it will feel different depending on which perspective you're hearing it from but always the same exact beat. If you hear it as 80 BPM half time, that's fine. But I don't ... I Had a click in my ears at 40BPM. Unless you're saying that the click in my ears is not at 40BPM and It's at 80 ... that's a different thing. Thanks for subscribing :) I'm not writing this because I'm angry at what you're saying . Just explaining.
@@dimsunk Ha thanks for responding :) and definitely not taking it as you being angry. Happy to have a discussion, I can only learn from it. I think you're still arguing in essence that "without hearing the click, you can't tell halftime feel from just halving the tempo" - I still strongly disagree with that, as much as I would had someone said "A major triad sounds to me as lush as a G7#11", but in both cases there's no argument except a subjective one, so we can leave it at that :)

You’re right. I do time exercises to 40 BPM’s all the time. It forces you to play the rests.

Wow good thing i saw the 2x speed mentioned. Now it feels good

Another great video from you! Thanks again. Is that your vintage Rogers kit? What are those cymbals though?
Thx! Yes it's my Rogers Cleveland era kit. Cymbals are PGB Artisan Cymbals.
This is a silly question: Do drummers, who are very talented and were practising for a long time, still count in their head "1, 2, 3, 4"?
No, unless I'm working something out in the practice room.
probably not if its 4/4, its pretty easy to feel out, maybe for some more complex time sigs they would
