you completely misinterpreted the part at the end of the video. they were definitely NOT saying that the people who ran this filthy place should get away with it because of religion lol... the reason they talked about religion and hygiene is because some religions have even STRICTER laws about food preparation (certain meats or products not allowed to touch each other, etc)

Is it against their religion to keep that place clean? There are people in the slums of India that keep their areas cleaner than that kitchen.
In fact some parts of India are so strict on food safety certain meats and vegetables can't touch each other Dairy and meat products should never be together different Meats should not cross-contaminate

I work in a restaurant and I thought our restaurant was bad until I watched these videos. Our restaurant got a B after inspection so that’s pretty ok. We just have little things out of place but nowhere near as bad as these like wow. So glad they have these honestly. It helps them know what to work on. However even with inspection, I feel like most restaurants, especially small and family owned, will eventually revert back to old ways or won’t follow the rules for a healthy and clean environment. But that’s why there’s inspections in the first place
Having worked in a restaurant in Denmark I am truly shocked by this - the health and safety standards there were a completely different level

Ive worked in a couple of kitchens. I can assure you, its not hard at all to keep it up to scratch, raw meats bottom of the fridge in sealed containers.
Have someone washing pots through the shift, bin the flannels and and pan scrubs once they start to deteriorate and use new ones. Clean surfaces throughout the shift, doesnt have to be a major effort, just a quick wipe down and disinfectant.
Have a big clean up at the end of every shift, i.e all the floors and surfaces, an hour tops.
Always label expiry dates on new foods.
Thats all you need to do to keep hygiene up to scratch. Its not rocket science.
Why is it not illegal? Laxative factory has to look like an interior of sci-fi spaceship but a kitchen for public can be dirtier than hoarder's toilet.
Holy shit a few months ago I found a single rotten potato that had somehow fall to a hard to reach place and it REEKED! It stunk up my entire pantry! I can’t imagine how badly that kitchen would smell with all that rotten food everywhere 🤢🤮

I don't know of any religion that wants to eat unhealthy food that is prepared in a dirty kitchen. It just goes to prove that if you want to stay healthy, give fast food away, particularly food prepared under these conditions. A quick check at the state of the front of the shop will tell you what the back of the shop will look like.

After watching Gordon Ramsay exposing behind the scenes I lost my appetite eat out. 90% of restaurant keep only the reception and the floor shiny but the kitchens are disaster

It is a mess and disgusting restaurant's kitchen. My kitchen was always extremely organised and dated all the foods containers. Never ever had a complain from fiscals.

There is no excuse for keeping a restaurant kitchen clean, actually it should be cleaner then any part of the restaurant, I have worked in kitchens like this and the first thing you do when you enter every morning is Clean Clean Clean !

If you saw the conditions the food was prepared in you probably won't eat there again! Even with an "open" kitchen I walked out (after paying) disgusted. The "chef" was scooping precooked rice with a plastic cup out of a plastic storage tub that was kept on the floor under the counter. I watched him prepare my food and decided, nope...

Such places, and the Chinese one I saw on this show, have no respect for the local laws. I should hope that the owners must take a food safety course before they even get a go ahead to open a restaurant, and that the staff must all take the course on a regular basis. Inspectors can't be everywhere all the time so a well educated staff is the best goal.
My stomach is turning just watching this.🤮 I rarely eat out precisely because of stuff like this.
