Also for me, Tomoya (the protagonist) is a very relatable character that's why I cried a lot lol. I love VE and cried at every episode as well, just saying that Clannad was as emotional for me. ^^
Violet Evergarden will always be the number 1 anime for me.. Music, story, animation and Violet Evergarden herself just really makes me emotional everytime.. low chance for a season 2 but I'm still hoping sigh

i’ve never had the chance to watch it but it seems like a beautiful anime i definitely want to watch. that scene when she jumps across that body of water is no joke the most beautiful anime scene i’ve ever laid eyes on. so graceful and elegant, but so sad at the same time. how on earth they managed to do that is beyond me.

I couldn't stand more than 5 episodes. What exactly do I need to understand, even ranking of the kings is more tolerable if you really want drama wrong adress. @Jacob Patrick Wendorf the girl from the video above is the mc, she's basically a war orphan(i think) and thinks her life revolves around a certain person, she was raised solely for the sake of war, during the war she lost her arms either trying to be saved or saving someone. Then comes the present, she's inexperienced in society but is offered a job of ghostwriting(a person who writes letters in place of the person who wants to send it) and she experiences a lot of things as the series goes on.

I wish I didn’t understand the meaning of love, so I could find and define it the same way Violet does. I still hope to find a way I can describe it in my own way, instead of giving the stereotypical, half baked quotes and answers the world has given me.
As an aromantic who struggles a lot with understanding my own emotions , I related a lot more to Violet than most people. However, I’ll probably never fully understand that feeling, unlike her.

I relate to violet. I don't understand emotions, how I feel, others actions or motivates. I'm often left confused or angry as it's my only defense. The show has taught me it's okay to not know my emotions, it's okay to be confused and scared, it's okay to not understand social cues and jokes others make. It's okay to not know. And that's the beauty of this anime. She doesn't understand either and she's trying to understand. And What I can relate to more is no one tries to help explain what we may be feeling or help us learn emotions. We're just left alone and feel like burdens to those around us.

I always fail to remember anything from this anime but one episode there was this sickly mother who commissioned Violet to write letters for every single one of the daughters birthdays. I just remember crying while watching the daughter grow up from a little girl, to when she fell in love, and when she got the final letter 😭
Idk if this is only something I feel but I’ve got a tendency of not feeling like watching any other anime for a while after Watching an anime that actually heavily impacts me and lives me packed with unanswered emotions inside... This was one of those anime it took me a whole week before moving on the other was death note i went a whole month trying to digest my unclear and overwhelming emotions on that anime...
The anime, this god loved anime... I saw the whole anime a few ago, again (for the 6th time by now), and I still want to feel all the emotions I felt when I watched it for the first time, again. This anime has changed my life MASSIVELY, and I'm glad it did :) But now after I watched the final movie, the final ending to the storyline, I think I will never be able to watch this beautiful masterpiece ever again, as I now know how the things have turned out... My second favourite anime if we exclude the movie. It contains spoilers so dont look any further if you dont want to see This series was about Violet learning how to be free and what is love. She was a child soldier since she was so little, she didnt know what feelings are, what is her value and belonged to Gilbert in war. She didn't think for and by herself and her world was revolving around gilbert and only gilbert. In the series she understood what feelings are and her value. She had people that love her and she loves, she becomes an individual person by the end of the series and finally moves on from her unhealty possession of gilbert. The movie threw her whole character development away, the thing that series literally was about. She just preferred to be with gilbert in an island out of nowhere over her new life with the people she loves. When she got out of that boat i was literally stunned with a 🗿 on my face, when they cried and gilbert said he loves her i literally started to cry out of anger and annoyence. If that really was what you wanted gilbert, why didnt you do it sooner? Or did you just put your own good over her even if you knew itd be better to let her be free at the last second? Her jumping off that boat was a symbol for me of her choosing her old life and just erase all that she had learned, her new life and self-worth that she had for herself.
Since almost every comment here says that VE is one of the animes that will make you cry on every episode, I'll be watching it tomorrow or the next day, good thing we have plenty boxes of tissue.
What’s funny to me was that, I watched this because of the name. I had a friend (maybe imaginary) who I lost because I became too possessive. She moved away in 2011, then I started to hate myself. I spent one night in a hotel room with my family and my moms (now ex) boyfriend. They slept in a different room while I found this anime. I cried that entire night. Found closure a few weeks or months later so yeah.

This anime was my first one. I haven’t watched another one since because I’m too afraid of a different anime taking its place in my heart.

I love Violet Evergarden. After a year of watching it I decided to rewatch it, I cried at the same scenes I did last time. :,)

That moment when you understand everything that's going on with this anime and two movies, but felt that the second movie didn't close it well
Face of disappointment
Honestly though, great anime series. Really enjoyed the series and it gave me a understanding of existence as a whole. I wouldn't recommend the second movie though, as I felt that the ending was the ending the people think she deserve, but not the one that would've ended the series
