    Thank you Duane! You are so awesome in the way you explain things in such an easy, simple manner. Like you said, it is nice to use your basic patterens and modify them to create different projects and make each gnome unique! I am thinking I want to use that leaf pattern hat to make a white daisy looking hat on a spring gnome. Thank you for sharing your tricks and tips!

    OH MY GAWD!!! I accidentally stumbled across your site Duane and I am SO excited to try some of these. The way you explain things, the excellent camera covered - amazing!! Thank you so much. I have a quick question - if it's okay to ask here. I'm not very computer savvy so kind of winging this. The yellow edge of the flower hat - how would a person get that to kind of 'ripple' without using the glue/water mixture?

    I love love the hat you made here and actually am so happy you give the dimensions for all the pieces. You simplify making the gnomes for me. I am anxious to begin making one. Silly question sorry, but how many strands of embroidery thread do you use on blanket stitch? Is just one strand strong enough for a seam?

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started out using two strands. I changed to just using one strand because of using a long length of thread. I do not like stopping and starting my thread.

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much. The yellow beard is actually a small piece of faux fur I had that was yellow and I just glued it on top of the white beard.

  • @dixiefox8463
    @dixiefox8463 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really love your gnomes and all the differenr ideas you have! I have a question .. how did you put the yellow on your gnome beard?. I really like how that look. Also the nose how did you make that?. Thank you.

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The yellow beard on this gnome is a piece of yellow faux fur on top of a white faux fur. I have also started using pastel chalks to color my beards.
      The nose is just a wood ball from Hobby Lobby.

  • @karenfranko5671
    @karenfranko5671 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Couldn’t you run hand-sewn basting stitches around the yellow and gather it to fit? Or would that negatively affect the way it looks? I do love your tutorials and gnomes.

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That does sound like a good idea that should work. I am not sure though if that would leave a wide enough opening to fit on the body? Could always try.
      I always get a large number of people that say they do not sew, so I try to show how they can make with just gluing.
      Thank you! Great idea.

    • @karenfranko5671
      @karenfranko5671 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe might have to increase the diameter of the circle by about an 3/4 inch to an inch then draw the second one to make the hole. But you did have to cut off a little when you were fitting it before the Mdd podge. That looked like there might be room. I’ve never used Mod Podge on fabric.
      Did you ever find the bodkin that I sent a picture of? I constantly used mine to pull small ties right side out or 1/4 elastic through small seams for doll clothes and small seams on baby clothes. Its made by Dritz and is metal.

    • @duanedking8498

      Thank you. For this beard I actually used two different faux furs. I put the yellow one on top of the white one.
      I have been making other gnomes now with colored beards by using pastel chalks. The pastels work really well.

    Hi Duane, Thank you so much for you tuturials and patterns. They have worked up really well. I am mostly a Christmas buff / winter gnomes more than any other type. Do you have any insight to where other than the local stores like Dollar tree, Michaels, Hobby Lobby I can get decorative miniatures/Christmas miniatures. Thanks for any help you can share!

    • @duanedking8498

      I would look online. Christmas ornaments make great gnome accessories. Mayberry Street Miniatures has a lot of great looking items. I like to look at Wish. If I have the time to wait I order from wish. If not, once I see something I like on Wish, I check Amazon. Can find a number of things searching Amazon and Etsy.
