Couldn't agree more with you @Supperhero. Most people don't even realize that Germs where coming out with Forming and Lexicon Devil in 77'-78' and the album GI in 79'. They where playing American hardcore before it even became popular. The kings who accidentally laid the foundation LOL!! Germs Live!
When the Sex Pistols played their ill-fated Winterland SF gig in early 78 it's too bad the Germs weren't an opening act. Would've been fun to see Darby and Sid trying to outdo each other in onstage depravity!
@RuxLexi1109 I really hate that attitude - that being said you are right. I am 41 yrs old and listened to this as a kid and still do now. The new stuff is pop but at least its still alive - don't knock those kids at least they're not listening to Britney Spears. I feel like if I say they suck I'm like those hippy parents that said "punksnot music you should listen to the Mommas and Poppas."
@omedicius Now that I'm older,I do that in a sense.Work at home, only venturing out to associate with people you truly want to.You live in fear of some telemarker calling and trying to sell you an underground city, though.
@ZAnEPuNKpWnz yes i actually do its like an idea that gains popularity and is passed down in ways other than genetics but also i wanted to say that i posted that comment before i saw the comment below the first one
@mjordan1998 Oh! Okay, sorry I get rather defensive when it comes to Chris Cornell :P And yeah, they have punk influences for sure! Especially their earlier stuff.
@tylerrepotter please, for the love of all things good, don't think that all teenagers are that way. I'm fifteen and i can't stress enough how different they are from me or the people i hang out with. there are still some of us left, just not many.
@lemmy9head well dude you have to look at the time period that this all started there were no other bands that sounded like this they had to start it themselves the other musicians of the time were advancing into long guitar solos and songs that carried on for 5 6 minutes or so its not about trying to be rebellious against your parents its in a more similar vein as the hippy movement of the 60's and the rockabilly movement of the 50's its stripped down and raw
GG was way to conceited, he thought that he was the fucking embodiment of punk and that even his own shit was punk. I love to see some self destruction at punk shows, but thinking that it's ok to throw shit at fans is fucked
@mjordan1998 ARE YOU SAYING SOUNDGARDEN HAS A BAD SINGER? Chris Cornell is a fucking amazing vocalist...he is a fucking god! And SG is grunge, not punk anyway.
idk. this sound kinda sounds like trying to get over heroin to me. doesnt it? "Throw it away! i dont if i even thought" sounds like the first time doing heroin to me. or other drugs.
@Calmlikeabomb1891 yeah it so lame wtf does it matter how punk is defined and who is punk, punk cannot be defined with exact accuracy so theres no real argument for arguing >_
umm i would steal from any of the band i love the germs alot one of my all time favorite bands for sure but id still rob em thatd be sick they used to beat the shit outta people for no reason and shit like that so robbing them would be cool its just your not a punk haha so you dont know the scene
True punk genius. The Germs are the kings of the American Punk.
