When I learnt this song from this video, I made this notes...may be useful for someone else:
Maggie's dhum,dhum,dhaa pattern, I think is 2 beats in 4/4 scale (4/4 has 4 beats in each bar)
Consider: | D | as playing |1&2_3&4_| in D chord... (that is 2 dhum,dhum,dhaa patterns)
And consider: | D | as playing |1&2_| in D chord ... (that is just 1 dhum,dhum,dhaa)

Qq: when you play the 3 down strokes, for the first 2 are you avoiding the bottom most E string? If you are playing all the playable strings in all the 3 downstrokes, how do they sound different?
