There was something else called as "class" when you see the THAR on road. Now onwards it'll not be there. Anyone can buy even a base model and use it as a taxi. 😢
Look, everyone likes it when they drive something unique. But there is a reason something priced at normal level doesn’t sell or sells in huge numbers. You can either choose something based on being unique or less seen on road but there are consequences of it in the form of painful aftersales or very poor resale value or that product not being very good hence not selling or you can opt for something which ticks way more boxes correct. I know many people who just bought wrangler to stay away from the big crowd who own a Thar as it is common and they are not wrong as they are ready to pay for it but I can’t say it for Gurkha as you are taking so much pain just to look different at lower cost.

It’s not Spiti which demands 4x4, it’s the conditions you are doing in. Winter Spiti is strictly a 4x4 thing but other seasons are doable on any vehicle.
Instead of Thar ROXX RWD, it's make sense to buy 3 Door 4x4 petrol 😊 however it's your personal choice. One more reason to choose petrol is DEF and cold start issue. People who choose 4x4 is more sensible because this vehicle is meant for 4x4.

Should I buy the petrol or diesel Thar ROXX AT? I drive average 10k-12k kms per year. I own 2 other petrol cars. I mostly drive in Bangalore city. Occasional highway drives. Will there be DPF issues if I keep the diesel Thar ideal or use less? What do you suggest?
Mahindra also understands the Indian Market psychology extremely well. That is why they have 2 wheel drive Thars too. They know that quite a lot of people will want to buy the Thar for the brand, the status game and, people who may not want to go for offroad experiences or to areas where you need to engage 4X4. They need the feel of a 4x4 (while others stare at your car) without it being one. They understand this mindset well. Afterall which business will not want to make money more right. 😄 But good to see them progress as an Indian brand 👏
Wrangler is getting made/ assembled in India as far as I remember, one batch that was dispatched had the label of Made in India and getting sold in US (probably needs a cross check)

Hi Dinesh. My Thar 2020 has been having serious problems. Its ABS, ESP and HA has not been working randomly and intermittently. Multiple multiple to dealership service centre has not solved the issue. Sometimes the ABS stops working even though the error lights do not come on. When the ABS stops working the brakes jam extremely hard on the wheels even on extremely soft pressure on the brake pedal. This makes the vehicle skid on even at speed of below 5 kmph. This can cause life threatening accident on mountain slopes. I was planning to make my 3rd trip to Laddakh from Mumbai in my Thar on 17th Oct 2024. But today I have decided to call it off because I cannot risk my life in Mahindra's hands in the snowy slopes in Laddakh. Can you advise what can be wrong. The dealership service centre has tried their level best but failed to solve the problem
Good idea to drop the hills if such issues are there. Touchwood mine never had any issues other than DPF clogging in recent times but heard from some that their issues are not getting rectified after so many visits too. I think you should take this up seriously with the dealer or should connect with Mahindra directly if dealer isn’t helping.

FCA products globally known as one of the most unreliable products in the world, they are only popular in USA(home country) I had one Jeep in the past and learned it a hard way. There is no comparison between thar and wrangles as it is less than half the price with twice the reliability(one of reasons Jeep is threatened in global markets). Also, Jeep wrangler in India for 65-75 lakhs doesn't make any sense really. It worths 45lakh max as it does in other markets.
