Our today’s interviewee:
Eugeniusz Sowa (born in 1929), the eldest of five children of Franciszka and Józef Sowa, farmers from Wierzchowisko near Częstochowa. He witnessed the death of his parents at the hands of the Germans on 1 September 1943 for hiding Jews. The siblings were arrested by the Gestapo and sent to the Third Reich for forced labor. They ended up in the village of Golau (now Gola Grodkowska, Opole Voivodeship, Poland), where Eugeniusz worked as a cart driver at an estate run by an inspector, who was a German war-disabled person. The siblings were separated. Eugeniusz had contact with his two younger brothers, but their two sisters were taken away by the Germans. The children survived the war. Eugeniusz Sowa witnessed the Red Army soldiers enter the Polish territories and rape Polish women. The Sowa siblings managed to return to Częstochowa by bribing the Red Army soldiers with spirit.
Eugeniusz Sowa's parents, Franciszka and Józef Sowa, were commemorated by the Pilecki Institute as part of the "Called by name" project on 16 June 2020. Eugeniusz Sowa was the guest of honor during the event.

My mother was in Budapest through the Nazi occupation and after the "liberation" by the Red Army. She said Stalin made two mistakes in WW II. He showed the Russians the world and the world the Russians.

It was a tactic utilized by communists to starve off the german army in harsh Siberian winters and turn their battalions into frozen mummies without utilizing much military resources. But this strategy harmed their own population more than the germans.. millions of russians perished through communist induced famine.
The fact remains that the Soviet Union was not a national Russian government, and the Soviet Army was not a national Russian defense organization. Soviets were the occupiers of russia .. so for them russians were expandable commodities while using this scorched earth policy.

Trafiłem na ten materiał przypadkiem. Jestem głęboko poruszony tą opowieścią, tym co Pan i inni musieli przeżyć. Straszne czasy były, niestety jeśli Rosja teraz wygra z Ukrainą może się to wszystko powtórzyć. Wiele osób nie rozumie tego zagrożenia ale oby nie musieli się zdziwić. My family survived the German occupation first and then came the Russians and communism. The women that hid in the outhouses, in the shit, and covered themselves with it and were sometimes able to escape the rapes. Generations of men and boys were forced to watch their sisters, mothers and grandmothers be raped. Lots of men and women were broken, and then communism worked to ruined children. I grew up with this family history. My friends here in America just didn't understand. I traveled across the iron curtain many summers to visit family on the farm and it was an education you don't get from books. Communism is about power and terror, don't believe the hype.
