Dude i have been doing this for two months every day, before i could barely throw a kick at the chest, now i can throw hard kicks at the face. Incredibly useful workout. Thank you.
@@KettvnenI know this is a late reply but I hate when people say this. It does hurt to try lol. It’s 20 minutes long and some of us don’t have much time or have other things to train
Soft voice: I want you to sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Good job. Breathe deep...feel your diaphragm expand. Now I want you to visualize a person in front of you. It can be anybody. Can you see them? You are doing great. Imagine the person is transparent and you can see their 7 chakras. Each with their distinct colors. Red...orange...yellow....up to the crown violet. Awesome work you are doing great. Now I want you to get up...open your eyes while still visualizing this transparent person. Lift up your right foot....AND KICK THE CHAKRAS OUT OF THEM!!! 7 lightning fast round house kicks comeon!!! Send him to nirvana. You...are...helping...them!
Great tutorial. I've been doing it for the last 2 weeks (2-4 times a week) and I've actually seen a big improvement in my kicks, both height and chamber! Thanks Shane!
Joe rogan holds world records for his TKD kicks, he also hold 2 black belts in BJJ. Once you practice a marital art seriously, you never lose the fundamentals. These are exercises that they teach young children starting out in TKD, this guy just retained all of that knowledge because he transitioned to a different kicking martial art.
My hamstrings were keeping me from kicking high. So, I cut my hamstrings and can now kick to the face. Unfortunately, I can't bring my leg back to the chambered position. Seriously, though, these exercises will make a person aware of muscles they never knew they had. I've only seen ballet dancers with such control over their leg muscles but Tae Kwon Do practitioners come in highly rated, too.
Lol Taekwondo practitioners have wayyy more leg control. We're putting power and accuracy behind our strikes. Ballet isn't powerful and you don't require the same level of control to execute the movements.
I lift weights at the gym, and I jog, and I do a decent amount of cardio, but learning how to do this, and strengthening kicks is so freaking hard compared to my other workouts. I love it....thanks!
As a Taekwondo 3rd Dan, I confirm that this sick workout is pretty much the fastest way to better kicks, whatever your level at kicking is... Thanks for the great and complete video ! Don’t forget to let your body rest at least a day after, so you avoid injuries : if you’re not used to doing these exercises your body’s going to take a real shock and will need to “repair” enough first...
if you’re not used to doing these exercises.....u`ll die :) ,....keep the leg high, for 10 secs after kicking...dude, that is reaaaaaally hard. But the video it`s suuuuuuper useful and thanks Shane for doing this !
I've been taking online kick boxing lessons on this site for awhile. I bought my first pair of kick boxing gloves last year. Happy I stumbled across your channel, especially in this 2020's decade.
Great vid. Thanks! You were breathing AFTER your kicks, which will get you much more winded much more quickly. Remember to breath out as you strike; not before or after. I've been teaching for three decades, and have found this to be most helpful. Again, great vid.
Shane - I barely was able to get to the10 reps / 10 seconds for all the exercises...yet I am sweating and my legs are feeling tense like I just did 10 heavy sets of max weight dead lifts and squats. Thank you!!!!
I was born with hyperextended knees so I usually struggle trying to do leg workouts properly, especially with throwing proper kicks, but your steps were really easy to follow! Although I did struggle a quite a lot on my first try, I can feel my leg muscles work and that makes me satisfied so I’m not giving up! Thank you for your workout video, I’m going to do this as many time as I can each week! 😄
Great video! I forgot about some of these. By the way! 0:47 that is beautiful form on that sidekick!! You can tell Shane has been loving the sidekick and throwing them a lot, and working on them a lot, he’s mentioned the sidekick a bunch in a lot of the videos in the past few months, as far back as the Stephen Thompson sparring video. 😆😄 maybe it’s was that session that sparked that!
i tried this earlier today, it was awesome- it even was therapeutic for my knees that were inflamed for two months. would love to see more technical videos like this for the various kicks and punces and combinations. I'm a new follower and because of this video i will definitely be following and hoping for more

I'm. Doing Taekwondo since 5 years, and my techniques are quite bad. So I want to improve my kicks, before taking my black belt testing in autumn. (yeah I know, in very short time, but I'm doing it for myself and others would definitely crush me in a fight) I want to document my journey here and push myself to levels I've never reached Day 1: I gasped in pain. When you push yourself and do it properly it is really hard. I can barely move my front kick up and down und keep my back straight. Day 2: weird muscle soreness, I haven't experienced often. Today I did two rounds of the kick isolation training. I needed instantly a towel. The last stretching exercise for me it is very uncomfortable, but after doing it it feels good. Day 3: I'm getting more familiar with the exercises. Footwork is easy for me. But the kick isolation dexterity and balance training "kills" me. Afterwards it feels so good. Day 4: did the exercises today with my students, they all sweated To be continued... Day 5: Restday Day 6: did the exercises twice Day 7: same as day 6 Week 2: Week 3:
Very nice form... Van Damme style 😁 I do this too, though not that high. I also do the round kick repetitions on a bag - good for testing the balance a bit more and practising leg chamber. A lot of people swing a nearly straight leg, which really sucks the power out of a lead leg round kick.
good idea at 13:11 this flexing is missing from the drills I've seen in Von Roon's channel. Now if you included the "egg-beater" drill from Von Roon, I think it'll be more complete.
Do more lower back extensions, glute exercises, and lower abs. Hip flexors tend to lock up and get stressed when the rest of the core isn't strong enough to drive muscle movement, so that's where I would start since I had the same issue.
Thanks. I'm plan to do this once a week (hopefully I will really do it). (I was under the impression that we are supposed to lean back when kicking and that that would make the kick higher. What you said makes sense...staying upright will give better balance so I will keep that in mind when practicing taekwondo. )
Good video znd very well presented but many people respond that all this is new. A well stretched muscle is stronger, faster, more responsive, faster. more resilient and less prone to damage / injury. So yes ... stretch every day. FYI ... most people will never reach this level but you will significantly improve. Resilience balance and speed will improve
You are real Taekwondo ka. I've seen so many Taekwondo black belts who can't do splits or hold their legs above hip level, and have third degree black belts. TKD conditioning is about leg dexterity
Shane can you please help me brother I don't have a jiu jitsu gym in my local area and I can't find any precise instructions anywhere just general pointers, when I'm doing the bjj eggbeater drill or leg circles w/e it's called, should my hips do really small circles or should my hips move a significant amount to where they reach a 45 degree ish angle outwards for each circle? ty
The side kicks are seriously painful for me. I've seen progress in roundhouse and front snap, but I have a lot of difficulty driving my leg out with force for the side kicks. Hoping to improve, I've been doing these for maybe 2 months now

I thought this one was intense, couldn't believe when you said Vince was gonna "pick the intensity back up". Tried that other one two days prior. Yup. It was i n t e n s e. This one's good to increase kicking ability. That one is straight up solo BJJ day. I can't really train upper body bc of my wrists atm so I really appreciate the existence of these lower body oriented workouts. I JUST WANT TO HEAL ALREADY AND HIT THE MAT ONCE THEY OPEN.
thank you I appreciate the video I will be sure to recommend to all my friends you bring so much values protection of your own life? I mean that is the most value you can get thanks again
