- This week, I was able to score 50 hand rolled penny rolls to coin roll hunt in search of rare and valuable coins for my collection albums. It's not often that I'm able to get an entire box worth of hand-rolled penny rolls like this, so this hunt is really special! The rolls looked promising right from the get-go with two old coins appearing right on the ends of rolls. There was a ton of great stuff in these rolls- watch on to see what we find!

My daughter recently gave me a sandwich-sized zip-lock baggie full of cent coins. I found between 140 and 150 wheat-backs in the bag! Included in those were a 1919-S, a 1920-S and a brilliant uncirculated 1955-S!
sorry got to say this not point out saying your doing this but some of the coin hunters are fakes they will buy cool coins online that rare not high price some will have value of $100 to lower and buy paper rolls is cheap use coin machine refill them open them up on live or make videos to get viewers and lot fans to get youtube income or tiktok income just want point it out needs to be point out so can get the real hunters the spot light they deserve

Love watching this stuff my dad passed away in 2018 and last year i finally started going through them found a 1909 and 1943 steel penny's and i believe i have some 1954 no mint mark one i have so many i love going through them i even have 1970s proof coins and a set of 1969s proof coins well they are all S proof sets

Just started watching. Pulled out all my old coins and am starting over from when I was a kid. Lots of wheat penny's to get through! Great channel
Picked up 2 boxes of pennies today bank wrapped rolls and i got my first collection dump it was mostly 40s and 50s dump i did get around 5 before 1940
Total count for that hunt was 146 wheat cents
Over mintmarks are very cool. I haven't found one in the wild yet bit I did cherry pick a 1882 O/S Morgan dollar from ebay last year. Good luck on your future hunts Quinn!

Absolutely they can, and that is one of the reasons I used to be hesitant to open them in videos as I would always get a small number of people that call it fake. Then, I realized that I was getting a few people calling the videos that featured machine wrapped rolls fake as well. So now, I just hunt what I can get and post it all because there is just no satisfying everyone :D

I found myself a plain 1909 Lincoln cent last night in very fine condition. I didn't know that was still possible!

@QuinsCoins What's funny is I've only been hunting for less than a year. Weird, huh?
Not to brag, but I've found two Indian head cents (1868 and 1896), a 1943 steel (yes, steel) cent (machine wrapped too), a 1921 Philadelphia cent, and the previously mentioned 1909 Lincoln cent. Perhaps I'm more likely to find stuff like this because I live in New England?
I think people on the East Coast are more into paper and gold money and don't waste time on pennies.
@claytonsimplot9554 It's possible, but I'm pretty sure that the hobby of coin roll hunting and numismatics in general is far less popular where I live. In fact, there isn't even a coin store anywhere near me! It's kind of a shame, really.
I get three boxes of pennies from my bank every week about 6 months ago I got there at the right time a customer had brought some pennies in, they were customer wrapped and 9 rolls were complete wheat pennies
I inheirited my great grandfathers collection way back in 08 he was a few weeks away from 100 he was Maines first banker ive got a couple dozen pre 40s wheat pennies plus some 1918 buffalo nickels including 41-45-64 and ive got some of the errors on my newer quarters... But many of my pennies have double dies, Cracks Double ears, close and wide AM bicentenials and small crown nickels including some no strap 1953 nickels

Are you just doing wheat cents, or are you doing the rest as well ? I like to keep it fresh. I started with my birth year then went earlier with all denominations, now I'm doing my birth year and newer. Great video as always.

Ive got 1901-1902-1909 indian heads with shield backings before the weat stocks but also have the 1910 fist year change over to wheat stocks
By the way I found a 1938 Denver Jefferson nickel is that worth anything?
@@nickiporter9788 nice! That is one of the most difficult nickels to find. Depending on condition, it is likely worth between $2-$5
I also search boxes - pulled a 1910 last week. After 930,000 pennies, 2900 wheats and 17 Indians. Only 2 steels though.

How are you lucky enough to get stuff like this? It's insane how lucky you can be sometimes. Anyways, I finished searching through the rolls of nickels I talked about last video and I found my very first buffalo nickel! I can't see the specific year but I can see a 2 so it's from the 20's.
I go through a fair amount of boxes and don't post every box I look through. Sometimes, you can just tell that a box is going to be good based off of the enders that are showing. Usually if a box doesn't have any, then I will just look through it with my wife or in a livestream instead. Sometimes good stuff comes out anyway, but not as often as with the boxes that have enders showing, and those are the ones that definitely get videos :D
With the 1970-S, you said the large date is the rare one. I believe the small date is the rare one. Small date, high 7. Large date, low 7 is common. Well, not extremely common, but not worth anything extra.

That 1928 is missing the VDB under Lincoln's shoulder. Was it minted like that, or is it worn away?
Nice observation and great question! The V.D.B. only appeared on some of the 1909 cents and does not appear on any minted after 1909.
@@QuinsCoinsactually no! On some 1909 Pennies vdb is on the back, and some Pennies from 1909 and all pennies 1910-1917 have no vdb, but all Pennies 1918 and later have a vdb under Lincoln’s shoulder! And to answer likebot’s question, yes it is just worn away like most older pennies
@@QuinsCoins Oh, it appears under his right shoulder where the engraving tapers off to the planchet near the edge, but the letters aren't raised, they're imprinted. Of the 1909s that had it, it was on the reverse below the San Francisco mint mark, but every US penny I have of any year has it on the obverse. It's extremely hard to see, especially now that I'm ancient, but when I was 10 playing around with a water-droplet magnifier I looked at what I thought was scratches on Lincoln Memorial penny and saw the VDB plain as day.

9:45 there was a 2009 you missed in one of the earlier rolls. I no longer keep any that I find, but I do keep exceptionally nice ones, and I look for the copper satin finish ones.
