worth the waiting! Taking things as they come and doing the best you can! Enjoy the rest of your backpacking adventure and thank you for taking us along! Love from Greece ☺
What a love letter to Gili Air ❤ We very much enjoy all your films but this was a special one to watch as we visited Gili Air just a few short weeks after you did! And we did our open water course there as well, but SSI instead of PADI, at Manta Dive. It was spectacular and you put into words exactly how we were feeling - diving underwater opened up an entirely new world for us. And it made us realize even more how important it is to protect the world's oceans and the incredible wildlife that call them home 🐢 So cool you were able to go on a science dive Tania! And Adam, we feel for you. I (Sara) got a double ear infection right after completing my open water course so slightly better timing but it still sucked. We hope you're fully recovered now! Cheers from Uluwatu ☀

Thank you! It means a lot to know our films can be a form of positive escapism. That said, I’m sorry to hear you are not where you want to be right now (sorry if I misunderstood this if this is not what your meant). If it is, I’m hoping your situation changes so that you pursue the things/people that make you truly happy and fulfilled 💛 Big hugs, Tania xx

Great film! Would love to explore this magical place one day. And thank you so much for doing the beach cleanup. It’s so important to do these in ocean destinations!
Don't ever worry about infrequent posting. I sometimes find the weeklies that I also follow a bit TOO frequent! Looking forward to seeing Nepal, again for me.
Absolutely LOVED this film! I'm biased anyway towards all things scuba, but this is just awesome. 🎉 Cracking job, and wow, how picturesque can you get?! Here's to the next update! 😊 xx
Thanks Kit!! Glad you liked it! 😊Diving is our new love, that’s for sure! 🤿 I didn’t really think it was going to be something I would enjoy as much as I do! Very glad to have tried it! Hope you’re well! (And sorry for the slow reply! 😳) ☀️🐠 Adam
That was absolutely stunning, the filming of your time on Gili was brilliant. You certainly made the most of your extended stay and missing out on Japan meant enjoying the magical underwater world that surrounded the island. Well done both for mastering the diving and Tania for taking such a keen interest in the scientific and conservation side of sea life. Just a shame poor Adam couldn’t join in with the last dive. Commendable too to help with the rubbish collection. Although you only post videos every so often, I’d rather that, have great quality and no click bait headlines, so many use to get views, plus, as you mentioned, you don’t want the stress of having to get lots of videos out. I’ll be watching this one again!
Aww Vicky, you always leave us such thoughtful messages in response to our films (and our podcast and everything else!!). We feel genuinely lucky to have you rooting for us in this way. 🥹💕 Thank you so so much! Xx Tania
Wonderful video as always, and gawd what a beautiful place. Seems a blessing in disguise that you couldn't go to Japan, though an expensive one. It will always be there for another time.
Hey Mr Hotsnakes 🐍💕 Thanks so much for your lovely message and apologies for the tardy response! Glad you enjoyed watching and yes, absolutely! The whole experience was a reminder that there is always a silver lining somewhere 💛 Thank you got being here xx Tania
Hey guys great video! I was on Gili air last weekend and I agree with every single word: it's a true paradise! And amazing dives, too. Funnily enough, I went with the same dive shop. I am a scuba diver, and I am so glad you enjoyed your experience. Now with your certification, you can now explore the oceans in every corner of the world! 🌎🌊🤿 Enjoy your travel, guys!
Hi Federica! That’s so cool, glad to hear you enjoyed the island too! 😌☀️ What a coincidence you went with Blue Marlin too, they’re great! 😌 We’re so excited to explore diving in other parts of the world too! Thanks for taking the time to comment, it really helps the videos! 😊 Adam

So sorry about your ear Adam, hope it cleared quickly. Can’t wait for the next episode. Continue doing what you do, what you love ❤

Or did you just get an infection like Adam did? 🥺 Our instructor reassured us that if you can equalise once, you can equalise a hundred times. I am also claustrophobic and I always feared scuba diving because of that. One day I just tried and loved it 😊 have my AOW now. just give it a try, you don't go deep on your first dives and always can go up quickly in case you panic.😊

This was a another beautiful vlog. Well done on getting your PADI. I started mine in the Dominican Republic, but had to stop because my then husband got really sick and landed in hospital for 4 days.. I have never managed to do it since. Maybe one day. Luckily it didn't stop me diving in Australia with a Buddy who delt with the dive equipment for me.
Hey Rebecca!! Sorry to hear about your husband getting ill in DR, I hope he had a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 Scuba diving has opened up an entirely new world… I’m glad you’ve been able to enjoy it too!! 😍 xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset Thanks for your kindness 🤗. That was 20yrs ago! We have been separated/divorced 5yrs now.. now its just me and my 2 kids when we travel🤗. Maybe, once I have less time/financial constraints from my kids, I will do my padi sometime, but need to sort out sinus issues first.
Your films always leave me smiling and dreaming of one day traveling and filming my experiences as well. What a beautiful place to be stuck at 😍 Sorry about Japan but I’m so grateful you got to experience more time on the island and explore the underworld🪼
Hi Sam, thanks for your beautiful message! I hope that one day you manage to travel and film 😊🎥☀️. It was a shame about Japan, but I think it worked out for the best! We actually had two of our best experiences in Indonesia after staying on for longer, the diving and then the most beautiful hike we’ve ever done!! 🐠 🌋 ☀️ Adam
Great video, as always! 😍This one was special to me as I have done the PADI all along but couldn't go through with the exam as it would have taken place in my hometown docks where you can't see 1m ahead, too scary! I was doing it for this reason, see turtles so thank you for this video! Hope the ear is better and that you can visit Japan at some point. Can't wait to see Bhutan and Nepal videos.
Oh Adam, you kinda know some of my lengthy medical profile, so you know that I can 100% relate to the FOMO you were feeling when you got an ear infection and had to pause your PADI certification. It's a good thing you were on the express lane and got at least one dive in...on DAY ONE!!! I would be a mixed bag of nerves and excitement too! And Tanya, OMG, I'm so proud of you! Remember our convo about turtles a while ago? What awesome kismet that your first dive mission was to observe two different species of our beloved turtles. 🥰 I am chuffed.
Hey Gen!! Yes, FOMO is a horrible feeling isn’t it 😬 but like you say! At least I managed to get my first couple in! AND, we didn’t film it, but I managed to stop in super quickly before leaving Indonesia and completed my course! So very lucky indeed 😌. It’s definitely a new hobby we want to try and do whenever we get the chance! 🐢 🤿 I hope you’re well! 😊 Adam
Hi ya Tania and Adam , waiting for the video is worthwhile, we have 🐢turtles nearby and even a protected turtle hatchery. So very good thank you. Take care and stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤩🚐🚐🐢❤️
Hi Barry! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😌 oh wow, that’s amazing! 🐢glad to hear the hatchery is protected! 😊 very lucky to live nearby! 😊 🏝️ Adam
Catching up on TH-cam binging Jits is nice 👍 Shame you guys didn’t get to Japan we loved Japan and every keen to go back (please take us with you when you eventually go ❤) But the diving experience oh my goodness that’s just another world! Very jelly and now looking into doing something like that ourselves! Beautiful films as always you two hope your well 😊
Great Video (like all you've posted) and It's very interesting the different activities and foundations that are set in the island in order to prevent climate change and to take care of the sea and its flora&fauna. Thanks for create this EXCELLENT videos
Thanks Carles, really appreciate your kind comment! 😊 very happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, it really helps out the videos ☀️🏝️ 🐠 Adam
You might refer to the loss on the Japan trip as the price you had to pay to have such a wonderful experience on the Gili Islands, on getting your PADI, and on finding a new passion. A fair price to pay perhaps? Karma can be annoyingly expensive at times, but rewarding too. Wonderful photography and editing, which has become the norm with your videos. I've come to expect a thoughtful and intelligent story with your videos, without the usual vacuous clickbait predictability of "we weren't expecting THIS...." that you find on other channels. They do they, but thankfully, you do you. Hope the ear has fully recovered Adam. Looking forwards to the next video, be it two, three or more weeks. Best wishes x
Great video guys, and I am so glad you ended up staying in Gili Air and showing us more about diving because I'm going to be there for 2 months next year doing exactly the same thing! Hope I won't have an ear infection!! Haha
Another great film! ☺️ sorry to hear visiting Japan didn’t work out, but glad to see you kept your chin up and got to spend more time in paradise! The Gillis were my first diving spot too and I loved it! 🥰 A fun fact I’ve recently learned about turtles is that they imprint on the beach where they were born so when they are adults, they return to the same beach to lay their eggs ☺️🐢
Hey guys! Thank you! 😌 it’s a shame about Japan but it meant that we managed to learn to dive, so we really can’t complain! It all worked out for the best! So cool that you started diving there too! 🏝️ the dream spot! Amazing fact, such mad intelligence! 😱 Adam

Beautiful video ! I'd love to go diving someday, but I'm a bit scared of it, so this was inspiring :) And although not going to Japan must have been sad, it was really nice to see how you chose to look at it through a lens of gratitude for what you did have. Really excited to see the videos about that big hike !!
Thank you, Clem!! I hope you get to have this experience one day too 💛 We we’re definitely feeling the nerves, before you start you think ‘how the hell am I going to remember able to use the equipment and what if I fail at the exercises?’ but the instructors are there to take you from zero experience to confident and safe diver, so don’t worry! 🤿🐠✨ Thank you for your support, excited to share the next film with you 🥰 xx Tania

Great video. Just a fun fact from a Balinese-Australian to anyone that cares, it's pronounced "ay - eer" or almost like "eye - ear". Air means water. Gili means island.
Wow! Stunning underwater 🐢🐠🐡🐟 How amazing for you to help make a difference. In Charleston SC aquarium they have a sea turtle hospital. Always love to see the work they do.
Hi there, amazing and informative video ! Congratulations on your open water certification ! The reefs there look amazing. May I ask what time of year you visited Bali/Gili Air ?
Hey Michelle!! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed watching 🥰 We visited Bali from the end of a February for 1 month & then we were in Gili for the month of April 💛 xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset thank you for the reply! We are going end of January/early February didn’t know it was rainy season then. Whoops. We are booked to do our open water in Bali.

Gorgeous film guys! 😊 Sorry you didn't quite make it to Japan.. Shit happens right 😅 But at least you got something good out of it 😉 As you said, can't really complain about being in paradise!
Amazing guys and youre so brave…..i would have constantly been looking out for sharks! Too many dodgy films in my youth 😂 I’m a firm believer that things happen for a reason and if you’d gone to Japan you wouldn’t have seen those fabulous turtles. Beautifully filmed, goes without saying
Aww thank you so much, Sue!! There is always a silver lining somewhere and we were incredibly lucky that for us it was turtle shaped 😂 🐢😱💕🤪 Thank for being here!! Xx Tania
It looks an amazing place! I was lucky enough to do my Divemaster course in Puerto Gallera, Phillipines in 2001. I had nearly two months living on a beach and "working " at the dive shop. Great memories that will stay with me forever. 🙂
Hi Andy, that sounds great! What a great memory!! We’re currently making plans to go back to the island for Tania to take her masters! Very excited for a couple of months on the island! 🏝️ ☀️
Wow! This film felt so different from your usual polished films! This felt really nice and informal! Don't get me wrong though, I love both types! Thank you for sharing this film with us!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. We didn’t plan to make it more informal, it’s just how the film seemed to come together! 🤷🏼♂️ but glad you liked it anyway 😊 thanks for taking the time to comment. It means a lot! (And sorry for the slow reply 😳). ☀️ Adam
Lovely film!! We are headed back to Bali in July and considering going to one of the Gili islands. How did you find the food prices and Wi-Fi strength?
Hello! The wifi was pretty good! Lots of restaurants and hotels have decent wifi, and there is a new Co working space called Working on Air which has great wifi! The only issue we had was some power cuts. But I think that’s something they are trying to sort. ⚡️ ☀️ Adam
Hey! That’s a good question - you can easily rent them on the island. However strangely it was actually quite expensive so we only stayed out for one hour. Hope this helps and thanks for watching xx Tania
Hey!! Yes if you only have the day, you can certainly see a lot of the island especially by renting a bike when you dock at the pier. However since you are bound by ferry times it would be ideal if you booked to stay on the island for one night, that way you get to enjoy sunset and sunrise here and be less rushed. After all, the best thing about island life is taking it at a good pace. 💛 Hope this helps! xx Tania
@Jits into the Sunset You don't need to move to Indonesia to do your Dive Master, I've dived all over the world including Sulawesi which is in Indonesia a little west of Basli but my favourite dives have mostly been in the British Isles,
FYI : GILI AIR Be spoken ( pronounce ) GiLi Ayer Air in Indonesian its mean Water, not Air in space GILI ( Lombok ethnick language ) its mean Island Ok happy holiday enjoy your trip , stay safe & healthy
Don't BC's have shoulder dumps anymore? What's with the overhead silliness? Nice viz. I'm on my way! Ps. PADI sure got cheap. It used to cost almost a grand to get certified in the late 80's
Hi Diluni, one day we would love to travel to Sri Lanka! 😊 we’re not sure when we will, but it’s somewhere that we find very interesting and it looks beautiful! So hopefully soon!☀️ Adam
You asked for a comment about diving. Whether your snorkeling or diving. Stay away from the triggerfish when their nesting! They are very aggressive and will bite the shit out of you. It happened to me, but I was lucky and able to stop it with my fins. I immediately got out of the water.
Hi Dennis! I actually saw one when I finally came back to do my 3rd day of diving once my ear was better. They threatened to attack my instructor!! Thankfully they just swam up to her and didn’t do anything, but they are very scary indeed! Well done for fighting your one off! That must have given you a fright! 🐠 Adam

😊 Adam
@@JitsIntoTheSunset Oh no way!!! 😃 I'm so happy for you, Adam! Well done, my friend!! 🙌🏽
You explore Indonesia better rhan me...as Indonesian I may say thank you for loving Indonesia
Lovely
Loved this 🤗🙏 awaiting the next adventure 😁
It’s Dora here from Insta, I just checked out your TH-cam page from your post and I saw a jump 👏🏼👏🏼
really nice videos! been to Gillis too, was amazing swimming with the turtles!
😊 🏝️ Adam
Catching up on TH-cam binging Jits is nice 👍
Shame you guys didn’t get to Japan we loved Japan and every keen to go back (please take us with you when you eventually go ❤)
But the diving experience oh my goodness that’s just another world!
Haha
Anda sudah bisa menyelam di raja ampat untuk menikmati pemandangan bawah air di kepulauan raja ampat.
Semoga anda selalu berbahagia.
😱 Adam

As always what a great film. Congratulations on learning to dive. The footage was amazing 😊 Been a little behind on TH-cam... just catching up 🤣
Beautiful video !

I'm curious, do you know if Blue Marlin allows you to use snorkeling gear at 300m for the padi swim test, or only 200m with no gear?
Hey Ryan!! Thanks for watching ☺️ Definitely best to email Blue Marlin to sense check this detail because I don’t know their specific rules 💛 xx Tania
Great video. Just a fun fact from a Balinese-Australian to anyone that cares, it's pronounced "ay - eer" or almost like "eye - ear". Air means water. Gili means island.
Wow! Stunning underwater 🐢🐠🐡🐟
How amazing for you to help make a difference. In Charleston SC aquarium they have a sea turtle hospital. Always love to see the work they do.
Aw the turtle hospital sounds beautiful! 🐢. It really was amazing to experience what it’s like under the sea! We can’t wait to dive again! 😌 🐠 Adam

Excellent video, now another thing to add to my list of future travels 🎉
Hi Leslee!! Thank you! 😌 And yes!! Definitely add it to the list! Diving is one of the best things we’ve done!! ☀️ 🐠 Adam
I did not miss seeing you in Japan. The sea footage was beautiful.
love this
Thank you!! 💛💛💛
Your films are always worth the wait! ❤
Thank you so much!! 😊 really appreciate hearing! And thanks for taking the time to comment, it means a lot and helps us out 😊 (Sorry for the slow reply 🫣) Adam
Omg your underwater footage is amazing!
Thank you!! This is largely thanks to Musa, our instructor. He was great with the GoPro. We were mostly to busy focusing on diving properly! 🐠 🤿 Adam
Absolutely beautiful 🤩, travel safe
Thanks Melissa! 😌☀️🤿 Adam
Good afternoon from gili air
Gorgeous film guys! 😊 Sorry you didn't quite make it to Japan.. Shit happens right 😅
But at least you got something good out of it 😉 As you said, can't really complain about being in paradise!
Aww thanks so much, Chris! Glad you enjoyed watching! 🥰 A reminder that there is always a silver lining somewhere 💛 xx Tania
Can I ask how you were filming underwater? Did someone help you film?
Hey!! Yes our instructor very kindly helped us film us underwater with the GoPro ☺️ Thank you for watching and hope you enjoyed it! 💛 xx Tania
YAY!!!!!
Janelle, you’re here!! ❤ Thank you for always supporting us! ☺️ xx T
welcome to paradise
It really is paradise! ☀️
Xx Tania
Avatar! that's exactly how I pictured my first dive!!!
It really is like Avatar!! It’s amazing! 🐠 🤿 ☀️ Adam
Carvajal😮
All very inspiring
Thanks Joanne! 😊 glad you enjoyed the video! 🤿 Adam
☀️ Adam
@@JitsIntoTheSunset no problem at all! Keep going, y'all! All the best!
Absolutely beautiful! I love how you turned the lemons (missed opportunity to go to Japan) into lemonade! Your adventure mindset at its finest!
Haha, that’s a great way to put it! Lemonade!!! 🍋 thanks Simone! 😊 glad you enjoyed the video! ☀️🤿🐠 Adam
⚡️ ☀️ Adam
@@JitsIntoTheSunset awesome! Thanks for the info! We appreciate you💛
Hi just wondering did you bring your own paddle board or can you rent one on the island?
Hey! That’s a good question - you can easily rent them on the island. However strangely it was actually quite expensive so we only stayed out for one hour. Hope this helps and thanks for watching xx Tania
Hi from USA. Can gilli island be explored in 1 day excursion trip from Bali?
💛 Hope this helps! xx Tania
@@JitsIntoTheSunset thank you for response👍 helps very much!!
Hi Jits into the sunset what camera do you use for your underwater shots ? Thank so much
Hello! It was just a GoPro. Mostly a GoPro 7/9 😌 🐠 Adam
@Jits into the Sunset You don't need to move to Indonesia to do your Dive Master, I've dived all over the world including Sulawesi which is in Indonesia a little west of Basli but my favourite dives have mostly been in the British Isles,
Hi Pete, wow, thanks for this! I’ve never thought about diving around the British Isles!! We will have to look into this, thanks for the tip! 😌
@@JitsIntoTheSunset I think the best diving place in the world is Raja Ampat. A lot of foreign divers said if Raja Ampat is a underwater paradise.
FYI : GILI AIR
Be spoken ( pronounce )
GiLi Ayer
Air in Indonesian its mean Water, not Air in space
GILI ( Lombok ethnick language ) its mean Island
Ok happy holiday enjoy your trip , stay safe & healthy
Thank you very much!! I am going to practice 🥰 xx Tania
Would you spend another one month in crystal clear Perhentian island
Indonesia memang pantas di sebut surga nyh dunia
It absolutely does! We love it! 😊 so much more to explore?
🎉 from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Yay!! We love the Netherlands 🇳🇱🎉 Thank you for being here! ❤ xx T
Don't BC's have shoulder dumps anymore? What's with the overhead silliness? Nice viz. I'm on my way! Ps. PADI sure got cheap. It used to cost almost a grand to get certified in the late 80's
Ooo, I don’t know! These are the only BC’s I’ve seen. Yeah, I’ve heard the PADI is still much more expensive on other parts of the world 🏝️ ☀️ Adam
@@JitsIntoTheSunset You might (should) be able to pull down on your auxiliary mouthpiece and be able to dump your BC at the shoulder.
the edits killed me 😆
LABUAN BAJO..
I knew this would happen so just a quick pronunciation correction. It's pronounce Gili Ay-eer. Air means water.
Thank you! Unfortunately my Irish accent gets the better of me and I find it hard to get the pronunciation right ☹️
Water is air
Bahasa indonesia air : inglish water
Will you hope travel to sri lanka also
Hi Diluni, one day we would love to travel to Sri Lanka! 😊 we’re not sure when we will, but it’s somewhere that we find very interesting and it looks beautiful! So hopefully soon!☀️ Adam
@@JitsIntoTheSunset 🥰♥️
Is reggae reggae bar still there ?
You asked for a comment about diving. Whether your snorkeling or diving. Stay away from the triggerfish when their nesting! They are very aggressive and will bite the shit out of you. It happened to me, but I was lucky and able to stop it with my fins. I immediately got out of the water.
Hi Dennis! I actually saw one when I finally came back to do my 3rd day of diving once my ear was better. They threatened to attack my instructor!! Thankfully they just swam up to her and didn’t do anything, but they are very scary indeed! Well done for fighting your one off! That must have given you a fright! 🐠 Adam
Planned to spend 1 week eh? 😂 i remember my friend said she was planning to stay in Bali for 2 weeks and she ended up there for 6 months 😂
Hi, Is this Gili T ?
Hey! No this is Gili Air ☺️ Gili T is far busier and known for their party vibes! Hope this helps and thanks for watching ☀️ Tania
I like clown fish from find Nemo
Fun fact! There’s a pearl fish that lives in the rectum of a sea cucumber! Lol
Hahaha! Wow, what an existence! 🥒 Adam
