Air Compressor Head Gasket Fix

  • While using my air compressor recently, I noticed the change in sound it made suddenly, and then it struggled to air up to the point of triggering the shut off.
I thought it was going to be a broken reed valve in the head, but it turned out to be the head gasket had blown through.
Replacements can be bought, but with a little research online, I found people were having success making their own, so I decided to give that a try.
So far, the hand made gasket is holding up. I've used the compressor a bit since recording this video, and there are no signs yet of it failing.

The gasket is available on Amazon in a kit

Hi, thanks for the video. From the looks of it I’m looking for the exact same gasket. Mind telling me where you found replacement online?

Half a year on how has the paper gasket held up? Cheers

I wouldn't say it gets heavy use, but the gasket is still holding, compressor still pumps air fine, so I call this a win!

@@StiffmanOz cool, cheers for the video. Made a similar gasket this morning after seeing your video. So far so good. It's building pressure quickly again. The intake reed had maybe 5mm broken off the end. I reused it and just centered it so there's basically 2mm missing off each end. Not ideal but it's working for now.
