The Christmas market in Erfurt 2023 below the cathedral and the St Severus' Church, Germany

The Erfurt Christmas market is located on the Cathedral Square west of the old town with the illuminated ensemble of Erfurt Cathedral and the St Severus' Church in the background. The christmas market is one of the largest, most famous and beautiful in Germany and attracts with stalls with fried cakes, fried sausages, mulled wine and the children's carousel should not be missing. Erfurt is the capital of the German state Thuringia, so Thuringian specialties are particularly popular, such as the Thuringian grilled sausage and the “Erfurt Schittchen”, a Christmas stollen first mentioned in 1329. The large Christmas tree is in the middle of the Christmas market, the Christmas pyramid is at the entrance coming from Market Street, while the Ferris wheel is near the cathedral stairs. Offshoots Christmas markets can also be found in the rest of Erfurt city center and extend over the Fish Market, the Castles bridge, the Anger and all the way to Willy-Brandt-Square. However, these are not shown in the film. For my visit I decided to take the train and even railway fans get their money's worth when admire the steam trains.
