No wonder people get all jacked up when it comes to analog synths from the past...I have been blessed to host in my house a friend's jupiter 8 for 8 months and the deepness and quality of the sound is amazing...A great tune on the cs-80 and makes you travel without moving....
Thank you for this amazing performance! You and Vangelis seem to be able to bring the true beauty out of this crazy synth. Mind blown!! However we must also remember to be thankful for those who designed this synth. Looking forward for more videos!
Greatest synth ever made and this video demos that very well. I have a CS50 which also has very nice sounds - for those of you who can't afford a CS80. I run it through Eventide effects and into a high end converter. The other models can be bought for a whole lot less and they do have that characteristic of sound that go through all the CS range. You just can't get as big a sound as the CS80.
Love the CS80 and so pleased you have one doing what it's meant to do. Make noise/music. Fabulous. I'm off to twiddle with the softsynth version and see if I can get that Dr WHo bassline sound nailed. Funky1 and 2. But just can't get it modified right. Too many things to twiddle with:-)
The comment from classwar09 is unreal. This guy, CountlovE, has the best collection of videos and sounds on this website. He has talent and just because you are a self pitty fool then it shouldn't mean you slate him for his hard work, you don't even know him. Yes, many spooilt bratts get what they want, but he's not one of them. CountlovE is awesome for his sounds and you might be too if you got of you butt and worked hard to get similar equipment instead of wasting your time being negative.
@Synthink I suggest that those settings and instrument(s) in question be brought to my workshop (this is a CS-80 audit). There is no other way. Did I ever mention that I like the CS-80????
@omissis75 flute setting has level amount for aftertouch. The brilliance aftertouch is coming from the brass patch. I start off with flute only, then mix over to brass.
Glad to see that you have a Legendary Synth still up and running. I hope you make more Videos of this demos, I personally like what CS80 is capable of...
Absolutely outstanding great sounding unit. I can imagine myself jamming in exactly the same way (chords with subtle changes in harmonics) with this excellent patch (exactly what I actually did a lot with my JD-990 when it was new;)
wow theres no software that can ever replicate the sound of the real thing! Just thinking about all the vintage components the oscilators being processed through aswell as being generated from is amazing!
@CountlovE Absolutely and it should work. Problem is I "broke" my CS80 "tinkering" with it. So things (my CS80 realm) pretty much suck right now. Back to square one.
this is ridiculous, honestly mindblowing. may I ask what you used to record it? the pure, glassy quality of the instrument comes across like a kick in the eye, the sound quality alone is amazing.
it's amazing that you found one of these great beasts. but i heard it can heat up a room and wonder as in you should know, can it? thanks if you answer.
You need to pick up a Kurzweil Midiboard for the poly aftertouch. That is the only way, and the poly aftertouch is 80 percent of the sound with the filter control. Also the flute patch (Feet 1) needs to be at Step 16 and brass (Feet 2) at 5 1/2.
Great sound texture ! I believe the Solaris could reach this dimension and width (with even more flexibility) of course I haven't compared them (who knows one day maybe ! )
That is one massive sound. I really want one, but they are so expensive that I would have to give up two months of full-time salary for it, and I only work part-time, so it will never happen.
wish i'd known electronic music in that period.. now it's hard, and i'm working mostly to rent house and buy analog. and programmable polyphonic is still a huge expense. but worth it.
@omissis75 If I worked full time, yea, but I only work part time so it would take me 4 months of my salary to buy one of these, hehe, but yeah, I live in Norway, salaries here are probably higher than any other country...
Holy crap. I think I'm gonna go ahead and say it: the CS-80 is the greatest synth ever made.
I originally found this vid to hear a demo of the cs80, but this is such a beautiful song that I keep watching the video again and again.
The hair on my neck rose up. Truly a Breath-taking Synth. No wonder why Vangelis loves it so much.

No matter what, every now and then I must hear a bit of CS60 brass lead to understand how amazing music can be.
Beautiful delicate, fragile and complex all at the same time.
I was coming back to this several times. Superb!
Another excellent CS80 demo... full of emotion and warmth. Such a beautiful instrument, you play it well. Thanks again.

That CS80 aftertouch is something to behold when used like this.
Very nice subtle sounds from a wonderful instrument..
Awe inspiring.... the beauty and sonic quality of the CS80 knows no bounds.
Best sounding, most expressive, and most amazing synthesizer in the world, ever, PERIOD.
WHAT WONDERFUL NOTES!!! SHE'S A SIGHT TO BEHOLD!!!
For some strange reason this reminds me more of Philip Glass than of Vangelis. One of the best synths videos around, man!

Bei diesem Sound läuft es mir eiskalt den Rücken herunter.

Completely, utterly, totally, and awesomely sweet!
F'ing beautiful. The beauty of the brass sounds..
Beautiful sound and wonderful cinematography too
The sound you created is unbelievable!
Please post more CS-80 sounds!
@RFreigeldorff Thanks. It was recorded from a firewire interface from Prism Sound called Orpheus.
What a lovely piece. Great work.
best demo i ever heard on a cs 80 !

Dreamy.. Just amazing. That just inspired me to get back into my studio for the rest of the day.
Perfect piece of music. More than a piece of music, really. Thanks for sharing.

@CountlovE
Absolutely amazing the electronics and intelligence in the design.
@Synthink

Man that thing sound really good.
This is my favourite ever video you are a legend

I could have closed my eyes and thought that was a Brian Eno track. Love the sound of the CS80.
Brings a smile to my face!!!

I am weeping tears of joy
If Jehovah called his angels, would it sound like this? Such a magical sound...
Absolutely brilliant. Please post more!
Man I love the sound of this beast! Thanks for this video...
wow theres no software that can ever replicate the sound of the real thing! Just thinking about all the vintage components the oscilators being processed through aswell as being generated from is amazing!
Exellent video, and of course what an amazing piece of history you have there :)
only thing bad about this video is that its too short...
@CountlovE
Absolutely and it should work. Problem is I "broke" my CS80 "tinkering" with it. So things (my CS80 realm) pretty much suck right now.
Back to square one.
the CS80 is like the analog grounding rod in an endless digital storm....
It is the Earth.....it breathes......
@CountlovE
thanks - tasty chain, gave me some inspiration as to what do acquire next ;)
this is ridiculous, honestly mindblowing. may I ask what you used to record it? the pure, glassy quality of the instrument comes across like a kick in the eye, the sound quality alone is amazing.
no... easier than you may think... this is not a disposable keyboard.... this is a keeper...
Lovely, Awesome synth!
@dylandray8
Beautiful etheric sound and total memory recall.
@CountlovE
Not giving up anytime soon! But it is a super complicated musical instrument. This isn't your average guitar to tune...
Quick peek and realized I never posted a comment here ;)
.... did I mention I absolutely love this synthesizer?
My jaw just hit the ground. This is amazing
HOLY SHIT THE SOUND OF HEAVENS
it's amazing that you found one of these great beasts. but i heard it can heat up a room and wonder as in you should know, can it? thanks if you answer.

CS-80 my dream synth next to the fairlight...
Thank you! I really enjoy your amazing collection of videos. You have been a huge inspiration to post my own vids online.
heard about the Prism... very important example here.. through youtube, but still.. the importance of having a great A/D..
What an epic sound! ;_; Make more vids with this synth, please!
The eventide reverb is incredible. I think only the Bricasti can match it for pure fidelity
Thanks, so has manual a typo when giving a small brilliance aftertouch to FLUTE preset? Thanks, the CS-80 is a legend.
wow this is beautiful. my dream synth right there! lol
Great sound texture ! I believe the Solaris could reach this dimension and width (with even more flexibility) of course I haven't compared them (who knows one day maybe ! )
wow ...insane ...what a sound prob best synth ever
Well I do hope you consider having it work with an installed Kenton midi kit. :)
Heaven on Earth... Soul to Spirit ... my Ultimate synth
Lai lietus asaras neaizskalo.......
My Lord.....IT'S ALIVE!
I do not understand...does FLUTE have any amount of aftertouch on brilliance or level? Manual says yes...
@CountlovE
thanks, great device! how helpful is the siemens?
Spot on dude, luv it..!
That is one massive sound. I really want one, but they are so expensive that I would have to give up two months of full-time salary for it, and I only work part-time, so it will never happen.
Have you ever compared it to the Arturia version? I'm thinking about getting it since I can't afford a real one.
I hear more ENO in it than Vangelis... beautiful organic sounding synth! Is it really a nightmare to maintaine it?
Gorgeous. I bet god plays a cs80
wish i'd known electronic music in that period.. now it's hard, and i'm working mostly to rent house and buy analog. and programmable polyphonic is still a huge expense. but worth it.
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2?
I feel......................... LOVE!!!
@gavincurtis Can't wait for that digital tuner. :) Yay Gavin!!
So alive!
@omissis75 thats a cs80 max...

The CS-80, JP-8 & OB-X are the very best of analog synths.

@CoolColJ24 Nikon D90 with a 50mm 1.4 Nikkor lens.
I'm in awe
I'd love to have that keyboard, where do you live?

@666laughingtarget Best love life ever after you get your CS-80. Never cold again.
Can you fix mine?
@astroboomboy They pay you 5k bucks per month for a part time job??? Could I apply too?
;-)
@omissis75 If I worked full time, yea, but I only work part time so it would take me 4 months of my salary to buy one of these, hehe, but yeah, I live in Norway, salaries here are probably higher than any other country...
I mean, at the moment the brass sound breaks. The beginning is very Eno.
It almost sounds like a trumpet!
