I am looking for a 2D plot of the effective potential as a function of the distance from the sun, wherein the x axis (distance) is the axis along the sun, the earth, and L2, and wherein the x axis (distance from the sun) covers the distance between the sun and at least L2. I can’t find it in Google, can anyone help me and share a link to such a plot? I would thank you a lot in advance !
@ 8:35 "Not possible"??? Of course, it is possible. But it will not result in orbital motion. The object with the smaller mass will drop on the object with the bigger mass.
For a given, non zero angular momentum, it is not possible. What you are suggesting is a radial orbit, which has zero angular momentum. For a zero angular momentum, u effective is not bounded from below, and hence you can have any energy you want.
Incredible work. Thank you for being so enthusiastic and genuinely caring that people understand the concepts deeply.
When people smile that much, they have something to hide.
this is so helpful , i have a test soon and you explained everything perfectly
Amazingly clear, precise and profound. Very well done !!

Very well explained, thank you
where are other videos in this series where you derived 8.3, 8.5 and 8.6 ? i couldn't find in your playlist
Let me just say that I genuinely love you 😂
Thx you very much sir love from india

Hi! When E=E_o, how could there be a circular orbit, since in this case the velocity is zero in equation 8.6? Thx!
the velocity isnt equal to zero. THE RADIAL VELOCITY IS ZERO, THEN THE PARTICLE STAYS IN THE SAME DISTANCE IN THE ENTIRIE moviment. Hope it helps :D
@@AvelinoTiago thank you! that helps
