Thanks! The biggest reason I missed this playlist was because the SPG songs don't feature Upgrade anymore, so the original recordings just have strange gaps where her parts were.

I think the moral of the story "The Mechanical Girl" was: read the instruction manual before operating your toys.
When I was a student in art school, we had permission to do our classes with music on, and when i played the playlist, no one came to switch it off, which is an accomplishment as everyone likes to change it after at least 3 songs. We had steampunk music on the whole class
God, finding this originally in 2014 sparked my love of Steampunk. While not as strong as it was at that time, it's still something I listen to on the rare occasion.

They all seem to have the doll thing, weather it's a resurection or a replacement, the dolls are definatly omnipresent.
I've always thought of the events happening in and around the City of New Albion! Or in relation to the city! :D

@@carriedthunder3883 The doll thing is a pretty common trope in Steampunk works.
The various songs by Paul Shapera in this list though do actually come from the same opera, "Dolls of New Albion". That and a number of other works exist in a universe where the dolls and the consequences of their existence play a major role.
The original upload of this compilation was actually my first meaningful exposure to steampunk, nowadays im so in love with the genre that I can't not include steampunk in everything I write

I recently watched 9 with my kids for the first time in years, and that one line just kept on running through my head the entire movie. By the end, I had decided that the inventor who created the dolls was actually Annabelle McAllister and her technology was stole by the guy we saw in the movie.
A crossover between 9 and The Dolls of New Albion would be amazing.
Pretty close to what happened actually. That song's just the first in an entire opera that goes over three generations of Annabelle's family. When she raises the dead, she eventually comes to realize what a mistake she made and packs it all away. Then her son Edgar finds it years after her death and turns it into a huge, successful business. Then it becomes a social movement and eventually a near-apocalypse. You should seek out the entire Dolls of New Albion opera if you can.
That’s an amazing theory. I had similar thoughts about 9 however I that it was a prequel to city of the lost children and the robots had only effected America, and Europe was fine. The clones in that movie reminded me so much of 3 & 4 so I thought that they were created through a similar method.
This is the ONE. The collection that got me into steampunk. yeah. its back.

Yep. Wiremux popped up on my browsing list for some reason, and I checked the other music they had. And bam. Suddenly I had an all new genre to look for. I was delighted to see someone had saved it and brought it back.
This playlist existed about 7 years ago while I was going through one of the worst depressive episodes of my life so far. Playing this, imaging other worlds, was one of the few things that made those months of pain worthwhile.
Now, I'm living with my girlfriend, working on my own music, art, as well as a book series. Without this playlist existing, idk of I'd still be here honestly

One of my obsessions that has followed me into adulthood is small creatures using human technology designed for someone way larger than it (humans) in interesting ways. It's so much fun to see how a toaster to something like a fairy can be used as like a catapult, or how a car has to be operated by like 6 creatures working in harmony. It's such an aesthetic

I wrote my degree thesis with this compilation as background and it made me discover Steam Powered Giraffe among many other artists. But I never realized I wasn't the only one to have such a deep connection with this particular video. Thank you for reuploading.

Same here! I absolutely love this great steampunk song collection! After it was initially taken down, I was able to reconstruct it by looking up the individual songs and adding them in the same order as the original Wiremux compilation.
My advice: use a TH-cam Video Downloader and save the video offline somewhere. This isn't the first time the video has gone down. It's best to protect your video!

When I was doing Lyft and Uber passenger services, many of my passengers who heard these and other steampunk songs said they liked my taste in music and some were familiar with some of the songs and artists. One actually was familiar with The Dolls of New Albion when Edgar Builds A Business was playing. I thought that was awesome.

Man, this playlist was, in some ways, a part of my childhood. Thanks for reuploading, but what the heck happened to Wiremux? They had all kinds of cool playlists, on two different channels too, I think, but now it's gone. What gives?

@@RayAvidLebon Wiremux was the poster of the original video. They did all kinds of song collection videos like this one, with new ones launching almost weekly. I guess the copyright strikes finally caught up with them. I mean, these collections are technically illegal...

@@uwootmviii8695 I'd be wary of saying that, it starts to veer heavily into "you're getting paid in exposure" mindset.
A large number of people have found songs they love because of compilations like these, but its pretty common for people to *not* want to stray away from this video in search of additional content, especially when compilations like these are hours long and varied enough to not lose interest. Its also pretty common for artists to have a single or small few major hits, this should be a pretty clear sign that people don't actually go to the artist in question for more.
Compilations don't give nearly as great a boost to popularity as you think they do, and more so they actually draw viewers away from the original content. This might not seem like much but most artists will usually link various social medias, song stores, merch stores or Patreon links in their own videos as they do actually need a means of generating revenue to continue supplying us with the music we love. Even without following those links, simply viewing the original video will make it more likely for their content to be shown on social media, search engines and TH-cam itself... the AI can't determine which of the songs in this compilation actually brought you here.
Don't get me wrong, I love compilations like these, but you seriously overestimate just how much it helps the artists.
@@cyqry i can only speak for myself, and i actually have 60%+ interprets i follow from compilations like these and rarely every come back to the compilation because i like my own playlists. exception might be if im in a different house and have no direct acess to my own playlists.

Last Halloween my kids got me a steampunk jacket to dress up in. I didn't think I'd like it but when I tried it on, I was amazed at how cool it looked. I think I'll wear it again this year.

I missed this playlist so so much, it introduced me to steampunk and I felt so welcomed while listening to it cause there wasn't anyone in my small town that was interested in steampunk too to talk about it.... This playlist spring so many childhood memories and got me into steampunk things… also help me pushed through tough times :).

Oh, nearly a decade. Easily. I think it was uploaded before the live cut of Brass Goggles.
I think it was shut down in 2011 or the end of 2010; i was with in very remarkable party with friends on that time and we can't find it;
I remember finding it at least 5 to 6 years ago, when I used to roleplay and I used the compilation to get into writing mode. Then I couldn't find anything, not even Wiremux's profile.

@@vitordiegorodrigues1187She deleted her channel because she was dealing with severe mental health issues and felt that the internet was unhealthy for her. She's doing ok now, but she has a lot going on in her life and doesn't plan to post on TH-cam anymore.
