@Jhulian R if you read this comment, listen to Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead) through their Sound Alive album. The song has multiple version through the series but I think this is the most solid official release.
@@Foodie-MS-08th which one is that seems like there's more than one from the album. Though i am still fond of the overture version even after hearing these versions.
May is singing to a previous character by the name of Johnny whom she's madly in love with and is the captain of the jellyfish pirates. the jelly fish pirates is essentially a group of orphans taken in by johnny.
Sin is Ky's and Dizzy's son and since gears age crazy fast (Dizzy is 8 as of Strive) he's 5. He's also technically Sol's grandson, he traveled with him in Xrd and the reason he uses a flagpole is cause when he asked Sol which weapon to use he got told "Go wave a flag or something" and took it extremely seriously. He's also incredibly strong canonically.
@@FrederikAugustRiberholdt Ky hooked up with Dizzy when she was 3. She was 6 or 7 by GG2. Sin was already around by then and a few years old. Considering he's 5 now, Dizzy being 8 checks out.
Sin: "I'm literally 5 and I love life let's grab a burger" May: "I'm in love with my father figure and you can't do nothing about it. Also POCKET DOLPHIN" Giovanna: "I'm a cop so don't fuck with me but also I'm horny AF (LEO MLMLMLML)" Jack-O': "I'm finally free to do normal people stuff with my hubby Sol" Sol: "I have no idea why you thought you were leaving with all your bones intact"
@@mydrillasanjay5397 I dont think Delilah will approve. Hay atleast she would no longer want Chaos dead when she finds out. Chaos is my fav character besides my main May.
A bit of context on Jack-O's theme. She was made to resurrect Aria, Sol Badguy's deceased lover. And yet despite that, she was still given her own personality. A rather scattered one at that. And yet, Jack-O pushing for her purpose of bringing Aria back was rather disturbing in hindsight, as bringing Aria back would also mean effectively killing off Jack-O. She wouldn't exist anymore. And yet in Strive, Sol never once refers to Jack-O as Aria, and in fact is the driving force that convinces her to drop her intended purpose. Something Aria's soul itself supported. However, now she's in a very awkward spot, because she doesn't really understand what a normal life is yet. And yet she wants to learn how to live it, with all its imperfections, walking hand in hand with Sol as they explore their new lives together. It's rather heartwarming, honestly.
@@FlutterSwag That would be great too. If he does I hope he gets to "Haven't You Got Eyes in Your Head" or "Get Down to Business". That comment was more to let Jhulian know since he seemed to think all the songs were out already in the intro
kinda poetic that you completed the current collection of character themes with the protagonist and his wife, which kinda completed their own character arcs in Strive
A little backstory to understand anniversary video: GG is a story of Sol Badguy (Frederick Bulsara). Storyline starts in 1999 after all electronic devices shut down. More than 10 years of total chaos have passed. Sol (Frederick) was a scientist alongside his friend (Asuka) and loved one (Aria). They worked to create some shady magic stuff that could benefit humanity bringing on the table magic instead of technology. Aria got sick and Asuka decided to cure her and by accident making her and Sol a weapon of mass destruction - first Gears. Around 100 years of wars between Gears and humanity starts, Sol kills Aria (called Justice, this huge dino-like monster), and she gets reincarnated in a lot of forms (that`s why you thought her first appearance was familiar, she herself is part of a lot female characters you saw before like Jack-O, which is essentially her final form and Ramlethal) causing a lot of trouble to the world. Video shows main battles through the series between Sol, Justice and her many-many iterations. It was like it would never end. Guilty Gear is essentially Frederick, who is basically the first gear who feels guilty for killing his loved one. Very basic, but VERY well-made story was even in the first game. Strive is the end of Sol`s story and it all ended on quite a positive note. Like every good story, it is a story about love. P.S. I made a very basic explanation for the people who are new to GG lore. I know some things may be explained better, but I did what I did lol.
Yes! If you actually plan on buying guilty gear you gotta know what type of game it is. GG is a fighting game, meaning it's quite challenging to learn and primarily focuses on online pvp. All that amazing story you keep hearing about is actually quite obscure and most GG players don't even know a lot about it.
My favorite detail of CloudDrop's video for Find Your One Way is they made sure to include not one, but two different clips of Sol being an absolute gorilla doing like 7 jD aerial combos. Truly the best representation possible of the character.
May's song is actually a love-song dedicated to her love interest, and leader of her crew "the Jellyfish Pirates", Johnny. Who's kind of like her father-figure but...
Sol's sacrifice is that hes killed his wife like 4 different times. Also check out the song Storyteller from the previous GG game, its gotta be my favorite in the series.
He should actually check the full pack of the bangers (storyteller, nsfw, heavy day, six black heaven guns, and ride the fire) if i forgor anyone i would want to know lol
@@reptilechurrasquero9048 ravens theme from xrd The Moons domination (Tsuki No Shihai), freesia, Dice, big blast sonic, coming home, shotgun and head, lily, Icarus, birthday train. You missed those ones and there’s also another one from strive called the Name of Heaven
@@fiercetatsu6782 im talking about only the vocal stuff, but yeah dice is another banger i know, also idk how i missed big blast sonic and shotgun & head
@@ck11032 Congrats Johnny for Strive. I've been brainwashed. I'm new to Guilty Gear retroactively went back to Xrd for Jam and Dizzy proceeded to ignore Johnny (i was not ready to start learning character specific combos) Yet when he was announced i somehow fanboyed just as hard with the rest of yall. (still want Jam, Dizzy, Slayer, Elphelt and A.B.A, I can pray)
There are definitely great songs from the earlier games- Birthday Train and Freesia from Xrd would make for great reactions. But hey, it's worth mentioning that Asuka drops for Strive in about 12 hours after I post this comment, and probably within 24-48 hours past that we'll be getting his theme, The Gravity. Might be a shorter video, but now you're on the same boat as the rest of us, finding out about these new tracks right as they come out, and it's a hell of a ride.
His patreon lets you suggest once a month and my next one is going to be guilty gear sad boy hours and I'll do the endings of arcade and story mode for both xrd Rev and strive
Sin's theme is really just talking about how he's not even old enough to be out of kindergarten, but he loves life and no matter how much shit is going on in it, he's just gonna live and let be. Also, as somebody already mentioned, the guitar solo in his theme is a combination of his father's (ky) and mother's (Dizzy) themes. May: Disaster of Passion is about how she's in love with her surrogate father figure: Johnny, a cowboy, samurai, pirate who goes around adopting orphan girls and making them a part of his Jellyfish Pirates. The first verse and pre-chorus of the song refers to how she's trying to get over her feelings for him because she knows it's wrong, and there are parts of the song where it's almost like she's asking others for advice on how to lose feelings. In the end though, she can't get rid of her romantic feelings for Johnny though. Giovanna: She kindly tells you to fuck off if you don't wanna get your skull kicked in. As a member of the secret service, she has a job to do, and god damn it she's gonna do it. She doesn't really wanna get involved with anything more than she has to, she just wants to get in, do her job, and clock out without drawing too much attention to herself. Jack-O: Her theme is literally just a list of all the things that make her happy. It's about her trying to explore a mundane wife with her gorilla of a husband by her side. Saul Goodman's evil cousin: Anarchy if it were a song. Sol would rather just be left to do his own thing, and if you piss him off, not only will you wake up with a massive headache, you'll also be in a hospital with every single bone in your body fractured. People tend to agree that Sol's theme is like being in a bar fight and you're winning (meanwhile Goldlewis' theme feels like walking into that same bar the day after and nobody fucks with you).
Thankyou for these videos, one thing i love about yours compared to others is the focus on the musical composition itself and then combining that with the lyrics to work out the story of the characters. In particular i loved how you talked about the use of particular time signatures for necessary discrepancy and the kiss of death.
If he does, I'd want it to be Woolie's Heaven or Hell series. It's the most well done video explaining it all, and even has the Arcsys stamp of approval.
33:37 This part is actually a throwback to her previous theme from Guilty gear xrd, which is a thing for many returning characters, just how Ky got his theme showing up in his, sin got his father's and mother's solo mixed in his, ramlethal's got a part of her "mother's" song in hers, etc.
I love sin OST , so simple, yet so good and so deep He just wants to live his life he doesnt care what happens, or what responsibilities he will just keep going forward
45:05 Fun Fact, due to certain reasons eventually explained in the series, Sol is, in some way, actually Ramlethal's father (Or at least she herself sees him as such [Long story])
One thing you have to realize is that a lot of these themes incorporate brief references to iconic leitmotifs from prior games. For instance, the dual harmonic guitar section in Sin's solo, or the opening notes of the solo after that extended "one way" in Sol's theme.
Also im sure someone explained it better but the scenes in the music video are basically as followed The phones going nuts are because around 1999-2000 humanity basically couldn’t use technology anymore due to a thing called the “Universal Will” and it basically gets replaced by magic tech It then goes to Sol (as Fredrick), That Man (Asuka), and Aria working on the Gear Project where Aria gets cryo frozen due to terminal illness, but gets turned into a gear named Justice, and she only agreed to do this if she could wake up to Sol, so Asuka/That Man forces Sol to become a Gear against his will. Justice basically goes haywire, blows up Japan, and starts a 100 year war called the crusades and this is where Sol and Ky meet as Ky at good ol age 15 was captain of Sol’s platoon when he joined, and later Ky became the commander of the army, Sol defeats justice, and Ky seals her away. Video jumps ahead a few like 15 years to Ramlethal declaring war on humanity (she turns good later due to a hamburger) and basically the Illuminati tried to revive Justice but are stopped by Sol, KY, Sin, and company The shadowed characters shown were some main villains/focuses from different games (as one isn’t bad at all) being Justice, Dizzy (Ky’s wife and a gear and justices daughter), I-no, and Valentine (basically a clone of Aria body wise) Crazy chick after is Ariels / Universal Will. Basically the Pope went crazy, tried to kill everyone, and revive justice. Sol, Ky, Sin, and Co. stop her. And yeah in that scene Ky just had long hair and a ponytail but that’s Ky lol. He had a lot of design changes. And yeah Sol has a “dragon install” form and that’s why he looks wild. He a gear. The video ends before Strive’s story where he basically wants to fight That Man
Since many people commented on the other songs and characters already, I'll just comment on what the hell is going on in the 1st anniversary music video. First thing, they just commisioned the animation to make this video, as this game is a passion project you can see things like that. The beginning shows Frederick Bulsara (Sol Badguy), Asuka R Kreutz (aka That man, you almost got it randomly @41:30, but said This man instead) and Aria Hale (Sol's SO) first during the late nineties where technology went out and didn't come back for like 100 years. But one person (The Original) developed magic to replace technology, before vanishing randomly. The trio began working developing "Gear" cells, on what became the gear project, and around 20 years into the work Aria developped an incurable disease and was cryofrozen until a cure was found. That's when Sol was injected with the gear cells and became a proto-gear. Then the gear project went to sh!t and it was closed down. This didn't mean that Gears were not created elsewhere. ~This part is not shown on the video but backstory for the next part~ After 50 years gears were being used as weapons of war so to stop them That Man unfroze Aria and transformed her into Justice to control all gears. But the Universal Will (later shown as Ariels, the blonde girl with Clown makeup shown later) took control of Justice and made her declare war on humanity. She also used Justice (aka Aria Hale) as a base to create its own lifeforms, the Valentines. That Man also used that same process to take half of Aria from Justice and created Jack-O Valentine. ~ ~ We see the crusades, after 100 years of war against Justice, Sol and Ky Kiske meet there as soldiers. They fought Justice once, beaten her. But some 10 years later, Testament (who was still under Justice control) manages to revive her, and the second crusade was a tournament where they kill her for good* while she was still incomplete. Then we see Ramlethal Valentine as she appears declaring war on humanity (she's a creation of the Universal Will programmed to do it), this is why she appears "evil" fighting Sol, as she was literally days old on this world and Sin Kiske convinces her (with a burger, much memes about it) that life is worth living. Justice is revived and fought as that massive white dragon like thingy. She's then fused back with Jack-O, giving Aria back her soul, but she only manifested itself in Jack-O's subconcious, as her coming back would mean that Jack-O would cease to exist. The scene after the Justice fight is like 2 seconds, but it importantly shows 4 characters in Sol's memories, Justice who was the final boss of Guilty Gear; Dizzy, Sol and Justice's daughter who was the final boss of Guilty Gear X; I-no, who served That Man and final boss of XX; finally Valentine, the precursor of Ramlethal and Elphelt, final boss of GG2. Then the fight with Ariels, the human manifestation of the Universal Will is shown. During this fight Sol removes his bandana, which is a gear cell inhibitor, so he goes full Gear mode. This is called Dragon Install in game (and fun fact, all supers that makes your character better for a time are refered as Installs because of this move). The final moments have Sol and That Man having some type of face off, since he has been built as the final boss of the series for the last 25 years until we had the heel-face turn in Strive. Mostly because they retconned that many of the bad things "That Man" has done was actually The Original, who after spending 200 years stuck in The Backyard became insane and could only manifest himself fully recently, as Happy Chaos. EDIT: Forgot to mention, but the reaction to Jack-O's pose at @29:08 was very fun.
There's an official video for the band that performs these songs doing it live (although edited a bunch) with Smell of the game and some other song i don't remember, but you can check out how the singer and other people performing this look like.
40:49 the story of gg is bonkers insane. I won't spoil anything but that is such a good detail to spot. the game comes with a 4 hour + 1ish animated story. It isn't quite anime, but it is done in game engine. Very crazy story. 41:32 that is That Man lmao, he is the new character the comes out today. He's theme seems like it slaps
Maybe after this you could react to older guilty gear songs such as: Big Blast Sonic, Storyteller, Six Black Heavens Guns, Heavy Day, Ride the Fire, Marionette, Break a Spell, Still in the Dark, and (Holy Orders ~Be Just Or Be Dead~ overture version) Hope you enjoy❤
That pattern in sins theme that you stopped at is a part of his dads Ky Kiske classic theme called Holy Orders and then the part right after is from his moms theme Dizzy classic theme called awe of she
you know there is a new song coming, right? when they release Asuka R# and, musically speaking, you dont want to miss it, it gonna be crazy bullshit blazing, lets just say they are making playable for the very first time the mysterious big baddy of the game after 20 years and the song gotta be up to the occasion
To explain the story in the animation: Guilty gear diverges from regular history in 1999, when a supernatural being tries to manifest in our world through technology. For hours, all communications devices constantly output the message "In a matter of days, humanity will crumble." The UN outlawed most forms of technology, and a man known as The Original (now Happy Chaos) showed up and taught the world magic to act as a substitute to the lost technology. This event is named The Dawn of Revival. From there we follow Frederick, Aria, and "That Man", three scientists and best friends. Frederick and Aria are also lovers. They are studying magic and advancing the world, however they discover that Aria has a terminal disease which will kill her soon. That Man wants to put her into cryostasis so that he can develop a cure, but Aria won't do it if it means that she'll be unfrozen in a world where Sol is already dead. So That Man turns Frederick into the first Gear against his will, making him an immortal and all-powerful force of destruction. From there That Man experiments on Aria, also turning her into a Gear to cure her of her illness. He also commands Aria to destroy the entirety of Japan for unknown reasons, the process of which drives her insane. Frederick swears revenge against That Man and vows to destroy all Gears, later becoming known as Sol Badguy. (This is why the series is called Guilty Gear by the way, because Sol Badguy is literally the guilty Gear) The outbreak of rampaging Gears afterwards leads to what's known as the Crusades. Led by Aria (now named Justice), the Gears decimate most of humanity. The United States is mostly destroyed. Only the strongest warriors can defeat them. This includes Sol Badguy, who is hiding his true nature as a Gear. There is also Ky Kiske, a one-in-a-million warrior who leads the Holy Order (a group of the strongest anti-Gear soldiers). Sol joins the Holy Order, and him and Ky become lifelong rivals. Eventually Sol leaves the Holy Order, and the Crusades are drawn to a close with the death of Justice. Then we cut forward like 3 games to Sol fighting Ramlethal Valentine. Ramlethal is a synthetic person created by The Universal Will, who is the being responsible for the Dawn of Revival. She is tasked with ending humanity, but is defeated and captured by Sol Badguy. While captured Ramlethal slowly discovers the joys of living a foolish life of love and emotion and joins the good guys. She is adopted by Ky. I don't actually remember when the big fight between Sol and the white Gear happens. I think it's just supposed to look cool. We then get a cut between all the final bosses of the games. Arc System Works (the game company that makes Guity Gear) is infamous for having really hard female final bosses. In order, the bosses are Justice, Dizzy (the daughter of Sol and Justice, who is actually really nice and marries Ky), I-No (an all powerful god-like time traveler who could never save the universe no matter how hard she tried, so now runs around being hot and evil all the time for fun), and Valentine (the first synthetic human made by The Universal Will, using Aria as a blueprint). We then cut to the big fight of Sol and Ky fighting Ariels, who is kind of like the queen pope? Except Ariels is currently the vessel for The Universal Will in our world, so she's essentially the big final boss of Guilty Gear. This was the big fight that happened at the end of the previous game in the series. Sol's monster transformation is his "Dragon Install". It is basically his full Gear form. Then there is the face off between That Man and Sol. The two struck an uneasy alliance to defeat The Universal Will, and Sol learns that That Man (also called Asuka R) had his own reasons for many of the things he did. Asuka was often put into hard situations with no correct decisions, and many of the things he did spiraled out of his control, but he did what he thought would give Sol and Aria the happy ending he feels they deserve. But they still have unresolved feelings and vow to finally settle things. Much of Guilty Gear Strive's story is about Sol learning to let go of revenge, and start living for the things he still has in his life.
42:10 - 42:14 That crazy dragon is "Justice". The girl that you saw with 'the scientists' was Aria. She was turned into a gear, and later was mind wiped an changed into "Justice" by the white haired scientist(That Man). The dark haired scientist got pissed, became a half gear, changed his name to Sol Badguy. Valentine, Ramlethal, and Elphet were created by the "Backyard" based on Justice's body to start up the gear war again. Later Jack-O was created based on those women by "That Man".
I love your reactions and knowledge on music and GG. Always a joy to see others enjoy the music we fans have been loving for so long and I hope this is only the beginning. The older games are also filled with fantastic music and while most don't have lyrics they are still above most. One theme I would love to hear you take on is Freesia, damn song always gets me in the feels. Regardless its been great hearing your reactions to these themes and I hope to see more.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for so long! There are some really cool guilty gear xrd themes now that you have done strive (also strive releases new characters with new themes every once in a while)
Now you have one more OST to watch, Asuka just launched, and he is part of Sol's story you just watched. As the comments said, he is Sol's scientist friend, also known as "That Man" and Strive is his first appearance as a playable character.
Jhulian watching your reaction videos reminds me of so many chill friends, I feel like I can just sit and chill and watch you get hype about music haha (also that "I can't stop vibing to this fucking riff" and the digimon comment make me laugh)
You're almost done with everything from Guilty Gear Strive. You have about 3 more tracks that I can think of Asuka R. Kreutz was announced a couple of weeks ago and will have a theme to go along with him, I would wait for CloudDrop(the creator of the vids you watch) to release their video. Then you have got a secondary theme for I-no called "The Name of Heaven" similar to how Nagoriyuki has a secondary theme with "Crawl" The last theme you could watch is a fun, unreleased track called "Rock and Roll, Rock Hard Maniac." I've been loving the reactions to Guilty Gear, you have very well thought out explainations to why these songs slap the way they do.
I definitely recommend going back into the GG franchise OST library. Some of my favorites recommendations would be "Six black heaven's guns", "Storyteller", and "Break a spell". Or if you want to see Daisuke's more Queen influenced songs check out "Freesia", "Lily", "Icarus", or "Lets talk about you". Just a handful of my favorite past tracks....and that's ignoring all the non vocal stuff, I could legitimately keep going with recommendations.
Quickest crash course on GG lore. Roughly same timeline as ours up until before 2000. Y2K happens planet wide as an alien force from another dimension attempts to seize control of all electronics. Humanity freaks out and goes Luddite, with only a few exceptions. Out of nowhere, 5 people show up and say "Hey guys, we figured out magic and want to teach it to all of you. Now you can cast a spell instead of using a phone." People start calling these 5 the Wisemen and after teaching magic they disappear out of public perception. Magic is the new arms race and the United States starts creating super advanced weapons using it. A group of scientists figure out how to fuse magic with cells at a cellular level and create what is known as the Gear race, artificially created magically infused creatures. Of these scientists 3 are the most important, lets call them Nerd, Jock, and Love Interest. Anyways, Love Interest comes down with incurable disease and Nerd + Jock figure that given time they could cure it but Love Interest would rather live her life with Jock than spend however many years on ice it would take to make a cure and then miss her chance to be with Jock. Jock mourns, but agrees. Nerd says "That's stupid. Also, we don't need ice. I'll just make both of them Gears. The magic in their cells will keep their bodies from dying and make them effectively immortal, so Jock and Love Interest can figure all this out later". So Nerd sneakily does a genetic surgery. This does not go over well. Jock is PISSED. Love Interest mutates into a giant monster. The United States government goes "Holy shit, that's Godzilla. We now have a Godzilla. Lets make this immortal killing machine into the basis for international defense." Nerd is PISSED. United States goes "Hey, we paid for all that illegal surgery you did without our knowledge. Now shut up and help us make Godzilla even harder to kill." Nerd relents. Jock ends up fleeing before also lab rat. Love Interest turned Godzilla is armored up and given power to control and relay orders to all other Gears made after it. More Gears are made. United States does what United States does best and sells Gears as military assets to allied nations. Before long, entire UN and many troubled countries have peacekeeping units of Gears. BOOM. Remember that alien force from another dimension? Lets call it AFFAD. Anyways, AFFAD is PISSED that all the tech is gone, but finds that if it tries hard enough it can reach across the dimensional divide and make contact with Love Interest's mind. Let's just say Love Interest is not happy with forcefully being turned into Godzilla, subjected to military research, and then bolted full of armor, weapons, and cybernetic implants. AFFAD empowers Love Interest to break free of it's shackles and give an Order 66 to all the Gears across the world, "Kill all the humans". So suddenly that UN peacekeeping force starts massacring the local populations. All the major powers are screwed. The UN is screwed. Everyone is screwed. Nukes are launched, armories emptied, and blood runs down the streets as monsters led by Godzilla start tracking down and killing everyone. Worst part is Godzilla is also effectively immortal, regenerating from any weapon available. The first attack by AFFAD after contacting Love Interest is against Japan, using Godzilla as a conduit to start mutating and killing the residents. Nerd tracks this and to stop AFFAD from doing whatever it was planning to do Nerd uses his "I'm your creator" override to instead have Godzilla simply blow up Japan and kill everyone. This is not good for Love Interest's psyche and leads to AFFAD basically gaining complete control and locking Nerd out. You may of also noticed that Nerd does not have any chill. Nerd is also blamed for all the Gears going mad, the deaths, and the complete destruction of civilization as Nerd is the only one who knew about AFFAD at that time. However, humanity as a whole are not totally lost. Some hold outs form up together and establish army groups and battle lines. Nations as we understood them are basically gone as things at this point with remnants of various armies, militias, and just survivors joining together to establish anti-Gear forces. These are called the Crusades when humanity as a whole sort of united together against species wide extermination and found new brotherhood in killing Gears. This culminates in a 100 year long struggle were in the end 3 individuals, Ky, Kliff, and some dude calling himself Sol fight Love Interest in succession long enough to weaken the creature. During the fight, Love Interest is shocked that Sol turns out to be Jock and in that moment he wounds her greatly enough to slow the regeneration to a point where when the rest of the army catches up they are able to seal her away in a dimensional prison. Ky, however, is given credit for the deed as what remains of the world's governments can't have some dirty drifter be the public face of humanity's salvation. Other stuff happens also, this is just the short version. Queue years later. The dimensional prison holding Godzilla is getting weaker and the new world order that rose out of the ashes of the Crusade is putting on a tournament to determine who is the most baddest enough to save the president er I mean who is the strongest warrior capable of defeating a weakened Godzilla. This is where the 1st game in the series starts.
31:44 I don’t remember how much power Jack-O has (not sure about it world ending), but actually in Strive she can help prevent the end of the world but at the cost of her own life, which Sol tries to prevent. So, I guess the world could technically spread everywhere if she wanted to (or in this case, if she did nothing). And at 33:46, I feel the two tones represent the 2 personalities she had (or has to an extent), but could also represent who she is (cheerful, light, and happy) and also the dark intentions of what her other Valentine Sisters were originally created to do (kind of sinister and unsettling).
Re: Digimon - I bet you were thinking of Gallantmon Crimson Mode (Japanese name: Dukemon). That was Digimon Tamers, the third series, started in 2001. It's often considered the best series in the franchise. (Digimon tends to set things in separate universes, like Final Fantasy, so it's not one decades long continuity like the main Pokemon anime was)
I beg of you to listen to "Ride The Fire!" from the Guilty Gear Xrd soundtrack. For a background, it is the theme of "Dragon Install", a super move Sol has where he becomes super powerful for a short time and this theme plays for the rest of the round. Another great one I love is "Heavy Day" (also from GGXrd), the arcade mode theme.
Well, it kind of does have an anime. The official channel (arcsystemworks) has the entire story mode of Guilty Gear Xrd Sign and Revelator (the games before strive) in playlists on youtube, so you should definetly give them a watch if you're interested. The story modes have no gameplay so it's basically like watching an anime. Both parts (Sign and Revelator) sum to like 10 hours total, so it's basically a season of anime. Strive also has a story mode, but it's falls a bit in comparison from Xrd's (only in story tho, the game definetly improves in every other aspect). Also you should check out the soundtracks of those games, they also have some bangers. (I suggest listening to Marionette (elphelt's theme), Big blast sonic, Heavy day, Freesia...) Of course it's up to you if you want to make reactions for the channel or not, either way i highly suggest you check them out. And also great video as always, keep it up, loving all the content :D
About Jack-O... The part that sounds "Sinister" and you thinking she may be a doomsday weapon... She kind of is, or was.... Also Sol is legit, full on, Daisuke's self insert.. and a huge ass nerd who loves Queen enough to have his nickname be a reference to Freddie Mercury, additionally, his name is Frederick
Sin is Ky's son and is half Gear because his mother is a Gear, so physically he's fully matured despite being only 6 years old,. yet he's still learning because he's still growing mentally as a person.
You GOT to review Guilty Gears story from the first game to strive, it will make so much more sense, since the songs complete the charactes personalities and backstories too.
Covers would be crazy! Tier lists would be awesome to see too! also, past gg games have awesome themes (guilty gear xrd's track is very popular), and even some of the earliest games have character themes (I really like A.B.A's "keep in gates"). think your content's awesome and would like to see more guilty gear videos.
Banger work as always Jhulian. Starting with one of the most riff heavy and uplifting songs was the right choice. Quick update: There's a new song out for the most recent character Asuka. It's got a lot to chew on!
Waiting for this part❤ as a GG fan since Guilty Gear X the missing Link on Dreamcast I am so happy that the saga I been enjoying through my life is finally reaching to so many people and thank you for doing these reaction videos your analisys is very obective and understandable for people who doesnt know about musical theory, you rock man!! 🤟🤟🤟
If you've enjoyed going through the Strive character themes, I heavily recommend checking out tracks from previous Guilty Gear games. Some that come to mind as first listens would be "Wanna be Crazy", Sky Should be High", "Six Black Heavens Guns", "The Midnight Carnival", and "Give me a Break".
Well seeing that you’ve done most of the strive soundtrack, maybe you could try checking out some of the older games, Freesia is a really good one Ride the Fire! and Heavy Day are also really good

Guilty gear is a fighting game yes. Is it worth buying HELL YES not just for the music but for a unique fighting game experience that is rivaled by non so far. LETS ROCK
"He was actually putting up a fight." Well yeah, there's no surprise there. Sol's canonically an S-tier character in the setting. He's among the top ten most powerful characters in Guilty Gear's setting (although that may change in future titles). The reason why he seems to struggle a lot is because he's very rarely actually trying to kill other characters (he may look and act like an antisocial badass who doesn't care about other people, but he really cares quite a lot about the welfare of others and felt a lot of guilt over his personal involvement in the scientific projects that resulted in the state of the world in Guilty Gear) so he's always holding himself back to avoid maiming or killing his opponent. He's gone out of his way to spare the lives of several major antagonist characters (who would later become neutral or even good-aligned), openly swore to save another antagonist, and was even willing to comfort Ramlethal after she'd been defeated and felt like she had no purpose anymore. Sol's really a good guy under his tough and abrasive exterior.
Hopefully you decide to watch the Guilty Gear Story Mode Jhulian, its like a movie within an OST that came with a game. Also there is an upcoming character to Guilty Gear Strive you might as well react to his theme when I comes out too
I’ve seen Sol’s song described as “you are in a bar fight and you are winning”

Second solo in The Hourglass is a combination of his parents' songs: Holy Orders (Ky's older theme) and Awe Of She (Dizzy's older theme).
@Jhulian R if you read this comment, listen to Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead) through their Sound Alive album. The song has multiple version through the series but I think this is the most solid official release.

Not only that but Jack-O also have two personalities. One is a kid and the other is a grown woman
“A bit of context”
IIRC, Jack-O's body was created from previous Valentines as a base. Which were based off of Aria, who turned into Justice.

A little backstory to understand anniversary video:
GG is a story of Sol Badguy (Frederick Bulsara).
Nah you did a good job explaining it in a concise way
iirc the electronic devices shut down in 1999, 2015 was when Sol turned into a gear.

Guilty Gear Strive OST has 3 more songs (The Name of Heaven , Talk About You and Rock and Roll, Rock Hard Maniac)

33:37 This part is actually a throwback to her previous theme from Guilty gear xrd, which is a thing for many returning characters, just how Ky got his theme showing up in his, sin got his father's and mother's solo mixed in his, ramlethal's got a part of her "mother's" song in hers, etc.
I hope you'll be able to notice that when listening to older songs))
Your channel is growing and I think it’s the variety of finished series, keep it up!
I love sin OST , so simple, yet so good and so deep
He just wants to live his life he doesnt care what happens, or what responsibilities he will just keep going forward
Also im sure someone explained it better but the scenes in the music video are basically as followed
The phones going nuts are because around 1999-2000 humanity basically couldn’t use technology anymore due to a thing called the “Universal Will” and it basically gets replaced by magic tech
It then goes to Sol (as Fredrick), That Man (Asuka), and Aria working on the Gear Project where Aria gets cryo frozen due to terminal illness, but gets turned into a gear named Justice, and she only agreed to do this if she could wake up to Sol, so Asuka/That Man forces Sol to become a Gear against his will.
Video jumps ahead a few like 15 years to Ramlethal declaring war on humanity (she turns good later due to a hamburger) and basically the Illuminati tried to revive Justice but are stopped by Sol, KY, Sin, and company
The shadowed characters shown were some main villains/focuses from different games (as one isn’t bad at all) being Justice, Dizzy (Ky’s wife and a gear and justices daughter), I-no, and Valentine (basically a clone of Aria body wise)
Crazy chick after is Ariels / Universal Will.
~This part is not shown on the video but backstory for the next part~
After 50 years gears were being used as weapons of war so to stop them That Man unfroze Aria and transformed her into Justice to control all gears.
~ ~
We see the crusades, after 100 years of war against Justice, Sol and Ky Kiske meet there as soldiers.

This so much, defiantly my favorite GG tracks. A lot of people kinda just ignore the non-character themes which is such a shame.

Jack O's lore is basically that she has the memories of Sol's dead wife and one Sol's enemies

you know there is a new song coming, right? when they release Asuka R# and, musically speaking, you dont want to miss it, it gonna be crazy bullshit blazing, lets just say they are making playable for the very first time the mysterious big baddy of the game after 20 years and the song gotta be up to the occasion
To explain the story in the animation:
Guilty gear diverges from regular history in 1999, when a supernatural being tries to manifest in our world through technology.
(This is why the series is called Guilty Gear by the way, because Sol Badguy is literally the guilty Gear)
The outbreak of rampaging Gears afterwards leads to what's known as the Crusades.

You're almost done with everything from Guilty Gear Strive. You have about 3 more tracks that I can think of
Asuka R. Kreutz was announced a couple of weeks ago and will have a theme to go along with him, I would wait for CloudDrop(the creator of the vids you watch) to release their video.
Then you have got a secondary theme for I-no called "The Name of Heaven" similar to how Nagoriyuki has a secondary theme with "Crawl"
The last theme you could watch is a fun, unreleased track called "Rock and Roll, Rock Hard Maniac."
I've been loving the reactions to Guilty Gear, you have very well thought out explainations to why these songs slap the way they do.
The Name of Heaven isnt an I-no's theme its just a story mode ballad like Freesia, All I Can Do and others
@theenrgy4817 Huh, I've always seen it as an I-no theme. It fits her well
Yea may's portrait makes her look um, different, but its because its supposed to be an oversized hoodie and they tried making it look like airy
Jack-o' is actually the female scientist, resurrected in a new body
I guess now the last one, you should listen to Asuka's theme "The Gravity" which is the absolute banger
You should check out a few of the older guilty gear themes such as Dice, Divide my heart, Shotgun & Head, and Heavy day.
Sin kiski is 5 years old the reason he looks like a grown adult is he's the son of the gear which age rapidly after they turn like 2 months old
Re: Digimon - I bet you were thinking of Gallantmon Crimson Mode (Japanese name: Dukemon). That was Digimon Tamers, the third series, started in 2001. It's often considered the best series in the franchise. (Digimon tends to set things in separate universes, like Final Fantasy, so it's not one decades long continuity like the main Pokemon anime was)
saved the main character's theme for last lol
I beg of you to listen to "Ride The Fire!" from the Guilty Gear Xrd soundtrack. For a background, it is the theme of "Dragon Install", a super move Sol has where he becomes super powerful for a short time and this theme plays for the rest of the round. Another great one I love is "Heavy Day" (also from GGXrd), the arcade mode theme.
"Where can I watch the anime"
The games story may as well be an anime its just 1 big movie
29:10 pretty much the internet’s reaction in a nutshell
29:08 neuron activation
So now its time to check out Guilty gear's older vocal tracks!
I really like Trigger because it reminds me of Sabotage by the Beastie Boys lmao
Dunno if anyone said this yet but Sol Badguy’s original name of “Fredrick” is a nod to Freddy Mercury
Because Queen is amazing
(I suggest listening to Marionette (elphelt's theme), Big blast sonic, Heavy day, Freesia...)
Of course it's up to you if you want to make reactions for the channel or not, either way i highly suggest you check them out.
Now i should suggest you listen to some Xrd songs, like Storyteller, Break a Spell, Freesia, BIG BLAST SONIC, Heavy Day
Sin is Ky's son and is half Gear because his mother is a Gear, so physically he's fully matured despite being only 6 years old,. yet he's still learning because he's still growing mentally as a person.
Make a tierlist of all these songs
You GOT to review Guilty Gears story from the first game to strive, it will make so much more sense, since the songs complete the charactes personalities and backstories too.
My next recommendation would be metal gear rising ost
Covers would be crazy! Tier lists would be awesome to see too! also, past gg games have awesome themes (guilty gear xrd's track is very popular), and even some of the earliest games have character themes (I really like A.B.A's "keep in gates"). think your content's awesome and would like to see more guilty gear videos.
Sol is technically Ky's father in law. but they are overall frenemies.
Banger work as always Jhulian. Starting with one of the most riff heavy and uplifting songs was the right choice.
Quick update: There's a new song out for the most recent character Asuka. It's got a lot to chew on!
as you posted this video there has been a new song leaked for Guilty Gear its called "The Gravity" and its Asuka R# theme
The themes are so bright and optimistic they blinded my fking eyes :))
Ram didn’t need the talk no jutsu, Sin hit her with the hamburger no jutsu
nice, The final character themes (until the new character drops in a few hours)
A lot of the older songs are bangers, but they don't have singing. "Enough is Enough" and "Drumhead Pulsation" are some of my favs.
Just now the last character from Season 2's theme came out. It's called The Gravity. Even if not for a video, you should definitely check it out.
Also in sol's solo at the end make a reference to the intro of his old theme titled keep yourself alive.
Find your one way gives me Rob Zombie vibes, solid song!
Well seeing that you’ve done most of the strive soundtrack, maybe you could try checking out some of the older games,
Freesia is a really good one
Ride the Fire! and Heavy Day are also really good
Aside the character theme who just released today, Asuka (who has a LOT to do with sol and guilty gear as a whole), theres not much left in strive
However theres plenty vocals to be found in xrd, though very few are character themes
- Id love to see you play Guilty Gear Strive. Id suggest having someone to collab with to sort of teach you the ropes.
- Gotta check out the OST of the previous game.
- New character just dropped, with his theme called "The Gravity"
it's cool that you're being body positive and all but that's not May's belly it's just her hoodie blowing in the wind
Guilty gear is a fighting game yes. Is it worth buying HELL YES not just for the music but for a unique fighting game experience that is rivaled by non so far. LETS ROCK
IT WILL WORK OUT (WORK OUT)
JUST GO WITH WHAT I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL YEAAAAAAAAH
Yes definetly react to the older guilty gear tracks!
"The last batch"
Asuka and season pass 3: hold my beer.
"He was actually putting up a fight."
Well yeah, there's no surprise there.
NEW GGST THEME DROPPED TODAY
Hopefully you decide to watch the Guilty Gear Story Mode Jhulian, its like a movie within an OST that came with a game. Also there is an upcoming character to Guilty Gear Strive you might as well react to his theme when I comes out too
I'm waiting for this video, I see Cheneel everyday waiting for this, I don't know much what to say, but when will more be released, just wait 0-0
