I had a “Gumbi” bendem in the 70’s. I remember buying bendems on clearance for under a buck as stocking stuffers for my son.

I absolutely bought these. There was such a long time without anything Star Wars. It was like I came out of the desert and got a little sip of water. They were pretty awful though. Makes 1995 two year later that much better. Even if the figures all looked like Arnold in different star wars costumes. Lol.
These were the first Star Wars toys I got open myself. I was about 5 years old and I remember getting a gift set from my parents on my birthday. I remember being a little disappointed that they weren’t action figures and didn’t have weapons, but I was still amazed and happy to have my own Stormtrooper and Darth Vader. They were fun to chew on though. Once POTF2 figures came out these were put in the bottom of the toy box, and thankfully I still have them.
I remember my mom getting these for me in the 8 piece gift set, and the disappointment...
As soon as I got the new Kenner figures, they went straight to the garage sale!
I was like 8 ion 93 and was getting heavily into Star Wars. there hadn't been any merch and then these showed up. they sucked but I had a few. I remember r2 being okay and fitting in with the 90s potf line when they finally arrived.
"Don't shoot, officer: the lightsaber isn't mine, I swear. I just found it!"
I have nearly all of early 90s Bendems in my collection...and yes....I will admit it....I love these!! Junkman For President 2020!

I had one of the four packs with Yoda and Wicket. Neither of these are very bendable nor posable lol. To this day my folks “hide” Wicket in plain sight so when I come to visit I can look for him amongst the Knick knacks on their mantle. Thanks for this video JunkMan
I was just amazed when I saw these in stores, it was the first SW product I’d seen in years on a store shelf.
I only bought the storm trooper just because they were such shitty figures.
I think not too long after that these die cast figures called “Action Masters” came out, I bought almost all of those.

I had no idea they made so many characters in the bendy style. I have a Yoda from this terrible line. He lives in our barn keep watch over our animals
A few of the action figures look like they are posed as the poster for Platoon. The multi packs are set up so you have to buy more than one to get the ones you want as a set.
I think the first wave didn't include the trading cards and successive waves eventually included the trading cards. The artwork on the carded figures was very well done unlike the figures themselves. The other company that was making Star Wars merchandise was Applause. The quality of their products ranged from very good to really terrible!
Luke Gumby... I am your pokey! Noooooo! At least there was no stretch Vader lol😂🙈 But really these figures are really decent. And they are probably way more poseable and durable. I never seen them before. Nice job Junkman.
I had 2 c3po bend ems. One of them I cut apart to make c3po busted part like in TESB. I enjoyed collecting them when they came out.
Those Just Toys Gift Sets were a brilliant stroke of marketing... they forced you to pay for the character you really wanted while at the same time they were able to unload one or two unpopular characters.
Darth Vader bend-ems figure was my first Star Wars figure ever 😂 i am born in 1987 so that was the first star wars toy my dad was able to find !!! After that we found a vintage bespin luke at a thrift stores way better lol

I had some of these. Well, I still have them, but I haven't looked at them in years. I never opened them because I remember having Gumby's that would eventually break if you bent them too many times.

I think the rarest one was the Luke X-Wing pilot. I grabbed a few of those box sets at clearance back in the day. Interesting collection and I had to get Boba Fett ! I think there were 3 coins ( Falcon, X-wing, Tie pilot) I think? I wouldn't have minded if they did make more characters.

I think I bought an Artoo one, because he's my favorite Star Wars character. But otherwise, they looked too goofy for me, which I say but then again, I got all the Red card figures including He Man Luke and Monkey Face Leia.
These sold like crazy in my town! I was never able to get any of these. There is a part of me that really wants to get the Tuskan Raider on card. I would display it next to my Jesus on a spring toy.

When these came out they were the only SW on the pegs, so even though they sucked and weren’t proper figs, they took the crown at.the.time.
They were awful, but I bought them. Hey they were Star Wars. Later let the kids have them for bath toys. Still got a Chewbacca on an Obiwan card. I think it was fairly common to be on wrong cards

i had almost forgotten about these, i actually had a few of them (dont judge I was only 7 or 8)
I had that 10 set of bendems. My ex-gf bought it for me at a convention auction. I was excited when we split up and I could safely sell the set, but naturally it was a hard sell... I ebayed it and I don't remember how much I got for it, but I'm sure it was less than she paid... unless it didn't sell and the set is still boxed up in the attic along with the episode 1 fridge magnet set she gave me...

I was working for Toys R Us back in the day and I picked up a couple of these. Not proud of myself
I've got a couple of boxed multi packs and some single carded bendems that I got for £1 each. Probably worth bugger all 25 yrs later. They were shit but it was the first SW figures we'd seen for years.

I remember buying 2 C3PO bendems and a Chewbacca. One 3PO I sliced legs and made a makeshift carrying bag to tie around Chewbacca and make it the C3PO from Empire. Bendems were cool but some of them looked GAWD AWFUL!
