No where in the constitution does it refer to Lifetime appointments, only for good behavior, whatever that means. As a retired DOD employee, I can testify that we had high ethical standards. The standard is to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. I wouldn't accept even a cup of coffee or donut, because it could look bad. It seems that one standard applies to those on the lowest levels, but not on the highest levels.
The highest court should be held to the highest standards for the privilege of their lifetime appointment. They should have the integrity to uphold the honor bestowed upon them.
The naive reason this is happening is that we really thought only the best of the best could attain these positions and there would be no need to worry about the standards, values, and ethics of those in these positions. Not naive anymore.
Judges are appointed based mainly on the religious beliefs (e.g., pro and against abortion), not on the basis of who is best. Two other countries that do the same are Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.
Law sometimes comes with order, but at other times they do not go together. The trite jingoistic phrase 'Law and Order' is used by gaslighting politicians in order to get votes. 'Law and Order' is not necessarily a good thing. Think Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Xi. Oppressive regimes always impose strict order to enforce laws intended to subjugate people. Most judges collect 3 different state pensions for presiding court in multiple towns even though each town usually has a judge. State tax funded pensions. Tax funded pensions should be limited to ONE.
The only crisis of the Supreme Court at this time is actually a crisis of Congress. There aren't ethics rules, in writing, because they serve at the full discretion of Congress. If they fail to perform in any of their duties it is Constitutionally required that Congress remove the justice. It is up to Roberts to oversee their actions but not to sanction any "bad behaviour", only Congress can do that. And Congress has never been more inactive than they are today.
And it should actually be made a LEGAL problem. In our modern American PLUTOCRATIC KLEPTOCRACY, ethics are a JOKE to the rich and powerful, and even our LAWS are insufficient to INDICT, PROSECUTE AND IMPRISON the likes of Trump, Murdoch, Thomas etc. Our LEGAL SYSTEM , including our Department of Justice, has totally failed the American people.

I had no idea of his decision to prevent any ethical impropriety by changing his occupation during his wife's prestigious role as Vice President of the United States. And I'm sure he's not the first or only straight shooter to stand tall and clean under the scrutiny of the press or ill natured political forces who will not stop trying to annihilate that which is good. I think every time we get a chance to speak out, to post comments on TH-cam, to make TH-cam videos, to support those Congress members who are trying to do the right thing, just a public outcry can do a lot of good. Whenever I see a brave Congress member, usually Democrat, speak out, like Senator White House, I try to send them an email to support them.

As a retired DOD employee, I can testify that we had high ethical standards. The standard is to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. I wouldn't accept even a cup of coffee or donut, because it could look bad. It seems that one standard applies to those on the lowest levels, but not on the highest levels.

Typical in a two tier "justice" system. That's what we have. When will we all realize it and demand change?
So how is your 401(k) set up? Do you have property? Do you have other investments like the overwhelming majority of Americans in this country?
The highest court should be held to the highest standards for the privilege of their lifetime appointment. They should have the integrity to uphold the honor bestowed upon them.
The naive reason this is happening is that we really thought only the best of the best could attain these positions and there would be no need to worry about the standards, values, and ethics of those in these positions.

Judges are appointed based mainly on the religious beliefs (e.g., pro and against abortion), not on the basis of who is best. Two other countries that do the same are Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

Subpoena chief Justice Roberts before the committee and force his hand to choose between attending or having a supreme court justice squash the subpoena or if the first justice honors the subpoena having the full court quash the subpoena in the broad light of day.
Let it be done in broad sunlight that the supreme court defied Congress by quashing the subpoena of its own member. It's own chief justice.

Most judges collect 3 different state pensions for presiding court in multiple towns even though each town usually has a judge. State tax funded pensions. Tax funded pensions should be limited to ONE.

The only crisis of the Supreme Court at this time is actually a crisis of Congress. There aren't ethics rules, in writing, because they serve at the full discretion of Congress. If they fail to perform in any of their duties it is Constitutionally required that Congress remove the justice. It is up to Roberts to oversee their actions but not to sanction any "bad behaviour", only Congress can do that. And Congress has never been more inactive than they are today.

Sovereignty comes from the people, and the exercise of it is given to the State. No King rules against the will of the people; they can only rule with the consent of the people.
