should be noted that john colter had allegdly been spotted travelling with the crow (enemies of the blackfoot) and when the crow were attacked, even helped fight with them (solidifying himself as an ally of an enemy of the blackfoot). he also knew more crow language than blackfoot, and used it to speak with the blackfoot, which would be like a swiss (neutral) soldier speaking german to an american unit during ww2. thus also giving a reason for the extreme hostility shown to him and his partner

When you were the one that murdered your friend this is what you tell to the police when you get back
what
Distorres Yeah because there’s no way the poor innocent Native Americans would ever do something so cruel and ruthless.
MyNamesJeff2013
Why do you think it’s so easily believable? Yes. Natives did horrible things all the time to Europeans, but these hunters and trappers were not saints either. Take The Revenant for example, these men killed each other all the time and blamed it on natives or bad circumstances and no one questioned it because who else was there to see it?
albert trevino The truth is often more bizarre than fiction. Also no one has ever provided any evidence that he was lying, so who are we to decide that he was lying?
MyNamesJeff2013 I can imagine that you’re one of those people who base your views on Native tribes off the stories of Christopher Columbus. I feel like that story of their shivalry must have been A LITTLE biased because a lot of tribes are ruthless savages so I’m not surprised by this story
I like how the Blackfoot are mad that he killed the one chasing him even though the Blackfoot were literally trying to hunt him
Even though he was literally encroaching on their land to begin with.
RealRunningDog _ well the reason they were hunting him is because that was their territory. It’s like if someone was trespassing and using the resources found on your property for no compensation and without your consent.
And it was the 1800’s, so one’s approach to dealing with a trespasser today isn’t the same as it was 200 years ago. There weren’t exactly any police to call when someone was breaking the law.
@@perryoparsonneseatingjuicy8738 It's funny that you think that's a valid reason for actually hunting this guy. If they had killed him in the beginning, I'd agree with you - but they turned his fear and life into a game. That's not how things were generally handled 200 years ago.
@@cuffysworld469 if they had killed him in the beginning, he would have died... the Blackfoot had to have known that there was a chance of him getting away. I think that because he cooperated and the Blackfoot were bored, they decided that they could have some fun, and that he could get the chance of surviving. Which essentially was a win win

Every Blackfeet are gangsta till a large line of musketeers appear and pillage
The pillaging was mainly done to women and children. Showed them for thinking they tough
@@ok88warrior Okay, so where were the men? Surely they'd want to protect the women and children with all their might if they are so brave and effective in combat? Still the women and children were alone, you say? I wonder why... Maybe it has something to do with how obviously ineffective spears and arrows were against muskets and cannons?
I mean...they weren’t gangsta to begin with since the Europeans brought over cholera and smallpox.
@@twanvanderdonk2504 lol no man. Thee John Smith said that "arrows flew farther than the musket shot" this was the matchlock musket and its hard to use cannons on villages seeings how u have to find them first and when they did most of the time the men operating the cannons were sniped. We fought eachother for 350 years 1540-1890. All men in a tribe would be a warrior since he was like 15. Mountain men were needed to track then when they died out they had to use indian scouts. Trained soldiers were needed to fight us. The towns would form militias but most of the time they got slaughtered. You shoot one or two volleys on command which gives the warriors time to hide behind a tree or rock then they fire and move in. Josiah Harmer campaigns and St Claire's defeat are perfect examples most of the time the men ran away like most of Custers men did
@@twanvanderdonk2504 the whites would most likely attack when the warriors were on a hunt or out on a raid
