Even better, when you hear other people not related to you talking to each other and saying nice things about you. Yeah. I can totally imagine that this would feel really really nice.
It's like if you commented on a random video and suddenly someone you don't know replies "Wow I wasn't expecting my favorite youtuber to be here!" what an exciting feeling lmao
Kids these days are so good at art because suddenly we’ve had all these incredible artists to model after. Before the internet, people didn’t have the chance to see the process of learning how to draw unless they got lucky. And now because of videos like yours, I and many others now understand how to practice the things we love. So thanks Sam! You’re pretty awesome
I would say that's probably true. I've been drawing for years, but I've only really improved over the past two years because I have artists giving tips and drawing challenges to improve.
you couldn't have watched the full video tho? It is 19 minutes long and when you sent this comment it was only uploaded 8 minutes ago. Great video still.
Am I the only one who eagerly waits for the ending part of his videos? They are so funny and like a cherry on top of the video. 🩷 love your content, Sam!🫶
Sam, I watch your videos when I’m feeling unmotivated, uninspired, or generally feeling bad about my art. I can’t thank you enough for making them for us, it helps so much more than you know :)
13:52 Funny story… This video that Scott made changed my art life. It pushed me to try and use colored pencils which I never would have used other wise. Now colored pencils are my main medium and I’m so much better and more confident when drawing with them. 😅
Super specific, but ProkoTV is great! Very professional video/editing work, good art tips, a helpful community (at least in his comments), and he's made quite a few videos platforming other great artists like Glen Vilppu & Marco Bucci too! I have no doubt this comment will be lost into the void, but to anyone who finds it, Proko is a must watch for any aspiring/working artist!
I love how Sam compliments other artist for their nice calming voice when he himself has one of the nicest and most calming voice I have ever heard. Watching Sams video's always trigger a wave of inspiration and eagerness to draw! Thank you for creating such lovely contents! I hope the bird will still come back after your balcony is fixed Sam.
Its so satisfying to hear another artist I respect compliment some of my favorite art youtubers (Lavendertowne, Jackie Droujiko, ProkoTV, and Scott Sava)
At 16:45 My best friend used to have some unsteady and unsightly art. But only a year later and she's freaking AWESOME at portraits. I have this feeling that she's just gonna get better and better 😁
Sam, you have helped me in my artistic endeavors ever since I've started watching you 1 year ago. I aspire to someday to be able to draw as good as you! Thank you for all the videos you post! Have a great rest of your day!
Aww I missed the skull of Sam's enemy!! Also, when Sam reviews the art tips of different art youtubers, it feels like there's this whole family of art teachers out there ensuring that I learn the best art tips :) Idk it feels kinda wholesome lol
Sam I appreciate you so much, you’re a great artist and a great teacher! I was able to draw a realistic portrait of someone using the tips you’ve given me, and it came out amazing!
I actually quit my full time art to study a professional course few months ago, because I was kinda stressed as I wasn't getting any better in art and I have no time to wait to have a good job....and guess what, i draw when i get time on weekends but they all turns out to be best and better from what I've done in months ago.. and i realised that now I'm using art as to relieve stress and I'm loving doing it.... I always wish to come back home find some time to finally draw something. Earlier it was something making me stressed , i was entirely focused on making it best and better than enjoying and loving it.😭
3:35 - speaking about shading and colour wheel I highlly recommend the video "A New Way to Think About Colors" from Light Ponderings. Btw his channel is awesome to learn how to better use colors in our artwork. Edit1: Me, as aracnofobic, can relate to Sam freaking out about the spider 🤣Hope the bird fella can have his little food soon
I will never understand how teenagers my age can do portraits that realistic 💀 I'm still drawing cartoony animals and I just recently started drawing humans lol But then again I prefer doing semi-realism and cartoon over photo/hyper realism.
My art would not be where it is without your videos and in parents evening(I’m 13 btw), my art teacher said I would’ve got high score on it AT A-LEVEL :DDDD Thank you Sam
I’ve recently got back into clay sculpting (after a long and annoying art block during the first week of summer break, which tends to be boring), and I am absolutely in love with it. I feel like it’s much easier than the classic pencil and paper, and I feel like I can really get the details of my characters and creations on better. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy drawing whales and dragons on paper, but I think clay has come to be my new main medium. To all the people out there struggling with their current medium, try something new! It could be paint, markers, watercolors, pencil, or even clay or digital art. All creations are art, and don’t feel limited to what the mainstream media shows you.
Sam: Oh my goodness, you look _fantastic_ Me, looking down at my raggy pajamas and crusty socks: Aw, really? Sam himself is such a positive vibe, no wonder that bird kept coming back
I've been depressed and haven't been taking care of myself the way I should. I showered today and hearing that I look amazing made me cry. Thank you Sam
16:20 for this I love all the facial features such as the eyes, lips, and nose and I’m not trying to be rude but, usually the jaw line or the bending part of the face ( I forgot what it’s called) is lined up a little below your mouth but for this it’s lined up close to her eyes. So that’s why it looks off, and her eyes are far apart and I think that’s just part of her style, but yea I think there kinda far apart
That saturated line along the shadows is most commonly subsurface scattering actually, which usually occurs whenever light passes through an object. It happens often on our skin because light passes through it. It's the same effect as when you put your fingers on top of a flashlight and they turn bright red, and why parts of our skin where it's thinnest, ie: your nose, your ears, your fingers, are where you'll see more of that red color the most. Depending on the lighting or your reference it still could be considered a stylistic choice, because I personally often think it looks nice to add, but I always like to talk about subsurface scattering as well. It's a detail that I feel doesn't get talked about much in tutorials. Also I know it's an old video so this might not even be relevant anymore but you know
I love seeing artists that I know, on other channels. LavenderTowne, LucasPeinador, JackieDroujko, ProkoTV, and of course, a continuation of the Sam x Scott friendship era. I've seen the cas3yarttv shadow/dino video before, too. The purple works for his style, but if you want something warmer, it isn't as useful. You could always draw it in purple, and then color/hue adjust as needed. Also, I've said it before, but I just can't get into Ethan's channel. Such negative energy, even if he has good tips. Others that I'd like to see, are ChrissaBug, Nadiaxel, Trent Kaniuga, Brookes Eggleston, or even Drawfee (usually on their DrawfeeExtra channel) or Jazza.
omg i just gotta say, the end sections of ur videos have been getting more and more interesting ?? anyways ty for another amazing video, sam !! youtube shorts art tips have proven to be pretty good so far

I agree, do both eyes at the same time. I think doing one, then the other increases the chance of dissimilarity between the eyes, for proportions to be off and can slow down the drawing process.
