      @@chiabluedoo6035 I just try to make actual constructive comments. I have a channel and people hardly ever comment or say why they like or dislike something. I'm hoping people will see my comments and get something out of them, more than juts a dot on an algorithm. I've also supported other people on patreon who took total advantage of that, and showed off their new Tesla or something - if you're making bank on youtube, why do the patreon thing? This is one of the few channels that I have found that seem to actually deserve the assistance, so yes, I'm going to be vocal about it :)

    Nice video. Not too much info out there on Savannah’s and most of it is conflicting. Which is why I appreciate your channel so much. You bring out the fun in Savannah’s and I hope it starts reversing their bad stigma. - I rescued my savvy at about 8 months when he was only being fed rodents by first owner. To get him weaned off rodents and on to bugs I used lean meats like turkey and slowly transitioned him over from that to only insects. I thought he was a girl until I caught him going potty in the back yard and saw a full hemipene come out of one side, it was huge and unmistakable, about the size of my whole finger 😭 since I’ve had him ive noticed his body drastically change. He looked very uncomfortable before, most of his body weight felt like watery jelly mass. He is now muscular all over and I notice those ridges at his tail base, his head is much more defined, even his leg structure is much more muscular. He used to drag his belly on the ground and now its lifted. In the summer he would go for walks on a harness and leash just like my dogs, he even learned to walk down the sidewalk and would keep up speed with me. He loves to climb, dig, jump, he loves tunnels and plants. I have to get him some toys now that I see how much simba loves them!! I’ve kept many different species and he is by far the most fun to interact with and in my opinion the easiest to tame. They’re incredibly smart animals and I can tell they get so much enrichment out of human interaction. I’m so grateful I rescued him at a young age and hopefully I was able to get his diet right before he had any irreversible health problems. Looking forward to seeing more of Simba! Would love toy recommendations!

    I LOVE Simba so much, he's just so handsome and sweet
    If I were to get a savannah monitor, should I try to get a captive breed one? I don't want to contribute to these beautiful animals getting caught from their natural habitat :(

      Captive breed because it decreases they chance of parasites that they can get in the wild and there easier to tame as well

      Captive bred is better, but there is not a big captive bred market since they are so cheap its not worth the time/money to do it. Most are treated for parasites if wild caught

    Wow that lizard is big. I thought it was small until you pet it then I could see a comparison. Yikes.

    I think it's a big problem when animals are cheap to buy. It encourages people to go into pet ownership without thinking it through. I wish there was legislation to make it illegal to sell an animal for less than say, a $100 at least. It's no guarantee but it does help. BTW: Simba is way tamer than my rescue cat! I adopted him at 10 months and he was quite vicious. A lot of biting and actually launching himself at me and others. I've done a lot of work with him and he doesn't do that anymore, but he still has a narrower window of tolerance than I would like. He's settled down but can still be quite jumpy. The work continues!

    Any pet is always a reflection of its owner. Bad pet means bad parents/owner. You must be a saint you animals are so well behaved on camera. I love watching your videos.

    I think they have a bad reputation as a pet because of the husbandry requirements and expenses plus all the bad info floating around out there. The low cost of the lizard is a real problem when the rest of the set-up is relatively expensive

    • @Animal1Guy
      @Animal1Guy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is only expensive if you have to buy the tank. If you can build it, its also cheap. Cost is also relative so for some none of its is expensive.
