Awesome pro tip thanks for sharing that. I've had that happen to me a few times in final cut. I'm still learning how to use it effectively..
I use markers all the time for cutting to the beat. It helps a ton. My advice, use Terminal to make the markers 'movable' (google the code). And, put markers right before the beat. Great advice!
