I first saw Ian Moore at Fitzgerald's in Houston. He was 17 and played with a band called Moments Notice! Saw him many times after that in Austin! Stay cool!~ Peace!~
Think about this: There are a TON of current Ian Moore fans that have never experienced the first two albums. They don't know "that Ian". Guess what? They love his stuff anyway. You think they are disenchanted or feel betrayed once they learn that Ian used to play exclusively Texas Blues Rock??? Of course not! They have an appreciation for the artist and his art.
I can mention Ian Moore to any guy that knows how to play guitar quite well & hear nothing but respect out their mouths for Ian's skills....I mention Ian to non-guitarists & they're all, "who's that? never heard of him." Ian has a lot of respect in the guitar world. Even songs that aren't bluesy like this classic song are still complicated & amazing.
Ian and the original band will be doing 6 shows next month in Texas and Oklahoma, focusing on the 1st 2 records. For those of you that miss this phase, this is the time. dates posted @ ianmoore.com
oh and I will be one for sure that will try to catch a concert. I hope he is coming close to the ozarks! btw... how many of you critics can even carry a tune? Easy to have an opinion but back it up with talent, skill, action ... yea, I doubt it
Ian still rocks when was the last time you caught his live show... I am a fan off the first two records and green grass he is very talanted he should not be boxed up into one form off music there are lots of differant lagueges for him to speak...I would welcome a blues rock record again no doubt that is my favorit style Ian plays but there is room for it all...
I have a love/hate relationship with Ian, I love his 1st 2 albums, I also love that he stood up to the record companies that wanted him to churn out the same music over and over. But I hate the fact that he has disowned his 1st 2 albums and seems hellbent on making music that is the antithesis to that. Bruce Springsteen was in a similar situation and managed to please both factions with ease. Ian could have been a superstar and maintained his artistic integrity if he had followed the Boss
2/3: They (the new fans) may not rush out to purchase the first 2 CD's because that style is not what attracted them to Ian, but they at least have an appreciation for Ian's craft as displayed on them. I'll never understand why "fans" feel like they have ownership of an artist if they were "there from the beginning".
3/3: Just because you know the first two albums word for word doesn't mean that Ian Moore owes you anything except an appreciation for your support early in his career. He has moved on. Why can't you?
I love many styles of music. I love Ian's 1st two CD's and "All The Colors". Can't get into the rest. I saw him in Houston a couple yrs ago. His crowd (and his music) is all yuppie college kid crap (IMO). Even when he does Muddy Jesus now, he talks the lyrics ala Beck (not Jeff). I'm all for not being pigeon-holed, but his middle finger to the record companies affected his fans more than anyone. Now, record companies barely exist anymore, but Ian's still catering to the indie underdogs.

Slightly "Come Together"-ish.
