I am truly astonished to see no mention of The Animals of Farthing Wood here. It was one of the only kids shows in the early 90s taht not only had an ongoing story and season spanning character arcs as opposed to weekly complete stories, but was incredibly mature in its themes of the dangers of nature and man, and was the first cartoon that i can recall tackling realistic depections of death. I watched it all the way through this year after finding a good quality download (never got a full proper DVD release) and aside from some obviosu animation shortcuts, it really hods up, having great conflict, memorable characters and sad and tragic character deaths that would put Game of Thrones to shame.
Farthing Wood. A great cartoon that seems to be remembered by few. If your after a dvd there has been a region 2 release in Germany, it has an English audio option, though the sound on season 1 is a bit off.
Farthing Wood truly was Game of Thrones with animals. Saying that though, no Thrones showdown was more dramatic than Fox vs Scarface, and no death on Thrones was sadder than the death of Bold. Fuck me, what a fantastic show it was!

Good list! Captured much of the range of British animation. Good to see nods to classic houses like FilmFair, SmallFilms and Cosgrove Hall, as well as Aardman, which I do love. Others I'd add are numerous - Roobarb, Trumptonshire Trilogy, Bagpuss and Ivor the Engine among others from SmallFilms, the strange 2d puppetry of Captain Pugwash and Sir Prancelot, the Herbs (another one of FilmFair authored by Michael Bond, and the show which started off Aardman, Morph. However, if you'd include Thomas, then Supermarionated shows like Thunderbirds should count. For all's info, Thomas' action is a Marklin Gauge 1 train set. While the original Watership Down was a feature film and thus won't count, I also loved its Britishness.
As an American, that's me, I have grown up with Thomas and friends and I like hearing George carlin or Alec Baldwin narrations and it was wonderful. I'm sorta neutral on the main British version but still. If you are British it's just my opinion if you like your main British Thomas. But those were the good old days, and I'm 22 and still loving my old childhood classics.

I must admit that the brits really know how to make cartoons that are really entertaining and really beautiful at the same time.
I can only remember 1 episode of that. Some boy had his brained swapped with a sloths and was 1 hour late for everything in the end he was an hour late for evacuation off earth cuz it was going to explode he died

Fireman Sam should have been on this list (and I mean series 1-5 from the 80s to 2005!)! It manages to educate its audience about health and safety risks by showing their causes, what happens during them and even the consequences of the situations in a child-friendly but serious manner, while keeping the audience entertained.
I loved Thomas. Although I'm American and was born in 2000, I owned a DVD of many of the classic episodes, as well as some of the episodes from the newer model series. Most of the time, I'd watch it on TV. I had toys, a Thomas-themed bed set, a couple of Thomas-themed cakes on my birthdays, and hell, I especially named one of my stuffed animals "Thomas" after the character. I especially went to those "Day Out With Thomas" events, and those were fun, too. It was also the only show from my childhood that brought me the most joy when I was (TW: mental health-related stuff) battling childhood depression. Just something about the show was so enjoyable, and I was completely obsessed with it.

Logan Kracl (Minelog23) they used train models until the 2000’s, then they thought it needs to be more appealing and modern, so they computer animated
The models made the show feel real, almost as if you could visit Sodor, but know, it’s just too unrealistic.
It’s actually a form of animation and they used stop-motion for many of the sequences.

I remember watching the world of peter rabbit and friends all the time when I was really little. I loved it to death and I think it was the first british television program that I ever watched! I must admit that the brits really know how to make cartoons that are really entertaining and really beautiful at the same time.

Fireman Sam should have been on this list (and I mean series 1-5 from the 80s to 2005!)! It manages to educate its audience about health and safety risks by showing their causes, what happens during them and even the consequences of the situations in a child-friendly but serious manner, while keeping the audience entertained.
I loved Thomas. Although I'm American and was born in 2000, I owned a DVD of many of the classic episodes, as well as some of the episodes from the newer model series. Most of the time, I'd watch it on TV. I had toys, a Thomas-themed bed set, a couple of Thomas-themed cakes on my birthdays, and hell, I especially named one of my stuffed animals "Thomas" after the character. I especially went to those "Day Out With Thomas" events, and those were fun, too. It was also the only show from my childhood that brought me the most joy when I was (TW: mental health-related stuff) battling childhood depression. Just something about the show was so enjoyable, and I was completely obsessed with it.

I miss watching Postman Pat! I use to watch it when it was on HBO Family. My favourite Wallace & Gromit story is, The Curse of the Wererabbit. And I love Thomas the Tank Engine, especially when you have Alec Baldwin as the narrator from 1998 to 2003.
